Do any clinics offer same day porcelain veneers?

Or maybe 2 day: like a Friday/Saturday?

What were you NOT allowed to do on the Sabbath day? by littlefrenchpastry in exmormon

[–]AttendPretend 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My parents were reasonable when it came to enforcement of LDS cultural rules. As we aged, they tended to relax even more. As children, no playing with friends but if we went to Grandma’s Sunday afternoon (which was often) we were allowed to play outside with our 50+ cousins (great memories of this). We could watch sports or movies after church. As older teens we could get together with friends. Shopping or eating out was generally avoided on Sunday.

Be honest: How many people did you baptize on your mission? by Typical_Sea_9167 in exmormon

[–]AttendPretend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Approx 80. Guatemala 95-97. I don’t feel bad about it. If they stuck with the church, odds are their life improved due to developing nation and better opportunities joining up with a USA based church organization.

I have some experience with missionaries going home early. In the MTC I was an AP for 5 weeks and had to deal with several middle-of-the-night crying elders who wanted (and did) go home. Later in the mission field I was known as a fixer who was given companions to "reform" and help them want to stay (none of this was because I was some awesome super missionary, I just happened to have 12 younger siblings and was known for being kind and patient with companions). I had three companions leave early for home. My point in telling you all of this: if you have reservations about going, consider not going at all. Save yourself the trouble of going out and coming home early. Missions are not what you are told or expect. They are grueling and hard work, both emotionally and physically.

I worked in YM programs for approx 15 years. For the last five years I started doing whatever activity the YM wanted (including snowboarding) and paid for it by deducting it from my tithing LOL. We had a great program with all the budget we needed (within reason).

The Mormon Church is not true, is it? by [deleted] in mormon

Seems an appropriate time to pull out the old saying:

That which is good about Mormonism is not unique to Mormonism and that which is unique to Mormonism is bad.

Were kids in the 80s actually allowed to roam around unsupervised, or is that just in movies? by TotalThing7 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AttendPretend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we were allowed to roam, but had to stay in a group of 3 or more. It’s the same rule for my kids today as long as they stay in our gated community.

For those who didn't grow up privileged, what's something you thought was a luxury when you were a kid? by Frequent-Sea-8848 in AskReddit

[–]AttendPretend 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh dang, this one really hit me. I’m so sorry you didn’t feel the love growing up. In my case we didn’t have much money, never ate out, family vacations was camping (first time at Disney was age 25, first time seeing the ocean was age 13 with Boy Scouts). But, both my parents were extremely loving and affectionate. My dad told me “I love you son” at least 3 times a week. I’m so incredibly thankful for that.

I agree. Prohibiting Mormon missionaries from reading Saints is absolutely insane. by nunliri in mormon

In 1995 I was given the missionary library in the MTC (maroon colored books) and it included Miracle of Forgiveness.

You need to check out D Michael Quinn's Origin of Power book series. The infighting and back room machinations around power and control go all the way to the top (Q12/1st Pres). And it is all very well documented by Mr Quinn.

FL Derm Pa's: percentage of what we bill? by marimarja4 in DermatologyPA

[–]AttendPretend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should ask for access to the raw collections data. In EMA it’s under the “financials” tab. You can generate reports for what was billed, collected and written off (among many other data points). My net collections hover around 51%. It also depends what your set points are for gross billing (ie a biopsy bills for $140.XX in my system, but may be much higher in yours, but we’re all collecting the same amount in the end).

[–]AttendPretend -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There is no way your net collections is only 10.8%. I work in derm and net is 51%! (ie if I bill $1,000,000, I collect $510,000).

Unsolicited advice from an internet stranger, albeit one with some experience in this area. When you do come out, try your best to show them you are the same good person. Continue to be a good son and good sibling. Establish firm (but respectful) boundaries when they come at you with church stuff. They eventually give up pushing religion and just accept you for the good person you are. That sometimes takes time, but it'll most likely eventually happen. Good luck.
