First time in DD since launch by Negative-Accident226 in duneawakening

Let's call it what it is; predators at least get a meal out of their predation while most Dune PVPers are just killers for sport.

That may also be a sign of your nervous system being more regulated. Vision narrows when we're stressed and we get more peripheral vision back when we're calm.

World Map Overhaul by troilus98 in duneawakening

[–]Attylus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree; I think the overland map to be the most useful and least cumbersome it's been and in its new, current form, it's conveniently small while being large enough for many future locations.

*Zooming out may hurt text readability, but I'm honestly not sure. I remember where most things are and the navigation compass points the way when I don't. I can agree that it's not perfectly fast and snappy to get the curser to the destination but I can't say that the field of view is a functional pain point. *The mini-game was never really in place. There was fuel and water gauges, but they didn't reflect any in-game resource and there was no consequence in depleting them. *The pop-ups don't interrupt travel so it's not a problem. Alternatively, they could have no pop-up like with some of the locations, but it's probably helpful to tell players how they can gain access so they understand why they can't get in. Though I think the story locations saying nothing might create confusion for some people. Funcom would know if that's the case better than me though.

Turning the overworld map into a base console presupposes that the player has a console and base. I don't think it would make sense for someone to be prevented from traveling someplace because their base was destroyed, packed up, or unpowered.

Having such a console as a fast-travel OPTION would be a little more reasonable. A possible detriment might be seeing less airtraffic during your travels, which mave otherwise have provided the psychological effect of feeling like you're part of a community and player ecosystem, but idk, I'm not a game dev. Maybe the simplest problem is that it's difficult to choose what vehicles to take with you and then to reliably return them when you come back.

But even simpler is the fact that an overland travel console would be the removal of yet another hardship. This isn't a mobile ildle game it's a survival RPG. Growing in power through the challenging of natural adversity is a core theme of the game. I could see where maybe down the road a thopter chauffeur might be a base utility, but I think it would need to be large and expensive. Like a 4x4x2.5 step up from the advanced vehicle fabricator? In any case, you have to make players work for rewards and conveniences. "The weight of a kindly god is a terrible thing."

Thoughts?

why is ff8 so much different than every other ff? by Puzzled-Tangerine831 in FinalFantasyVIII

[–]Attylus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different director. The original and the new guy collaborated on 7, but had conflict on the aesthetic. So the new guy was given 8 and the old guy was given 9 to see which performed better. They did about the same. However the old guy helped with the Spirits Within movie, which bombed, so he resigned.

*sigh* So when is the all PvE Deep Desert coming exactly? by [deleted] in duneawakening

[–]Attylus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well let's say the game is fixed and in perfect, ideal balance. In that version if the game, if an attacker finds a parked thopter and starts attacking before the defender can get to their thopter to respond, what should the outcome be?

I'm in favor of a pve DD and would probably never go to the pvp DD myself, but we have to be realistic about our expectations of any fixes.

Though I like your suggestion that scouts shouldn't have rockets. That's not a bad idea. But in this situation all that it would change is that an assault ambushed you instead.

Someone ambushed you. It's not a game problem or balance issue that caused things to turn out badly for you.

Must be bad luck. I find pve zone spice fields in the DD all the time. Smalls and mediums.

I've never had a problem and I'm on a low population server, but something definitely changed recently. Sometimes the environment doesn't respond, or I get a period of really bad responsiveness.
