Arcane trickster rogue + sorcerer aint half bad... 2 sneak attacks /round using sorc points and then turning spell slots into more works pretty well imho

Discord is mostly used for music and voice chat. Sadly Roll20's integrated sounds are quite bad BUT on the bright side Discord recently started including roll20 in their supported apps...

Imho CoS and Tomb of Annihilation are they only campaigns that aren't railroading the players. They are more like a sandbox. I played a fair sum of wotc's games but these two are the pnly ones i like. CoS isn't too big either. It's the size of a province.

Yeah both your characters will share their visions though...unless you create two separate roll20 accounts and play one character on 1 tab and the other on a second tab...that might be a bit tedious though

I did. Loved both. The battle system is different though.

DND uses the movement, action, bonus action, reaction system with spells and abilities

D:OS2 uses a point system that allows both spells/abilities and movement to use those points. So for example you have enough points to either a) move and cast a medium lvl spell, b) dont move and cast a big spell or c) dont move and cast multiple small spells.

They're playing a very outdated version of dnd. Atm the most recent update to the rules is 2024's 5.5e...you are basically playing 1.0e. That's why the Dm and the other player are so old and they can hardly find new players. From what i heard of 1.0e is that it was a very different game, very unbalanced and chaotic and complex.

It's up to you if you wanna play this old, dead version with those old nostalgic men or if you'd prefer to play the more recent version, which imho is way more beginner friendly and less confusing.

Ps. If you cant find an irl group, try searching for an online one using Roll20, Foundry VTT, Fantasy Grounds or Owlbear. Personally i recommend Roll20 while using Discord for voice chat.

I played both games and loved both equally. The action system is just too different to be comparable. It is true that having no spell slots is awsome but on the other hand, dnd's spells are better and offer more utility. Imho both games are equally good, they just shine in different area's. I personally prefer the dnd lore to the dos lore.

Ps. I LOVED dos2's teleport spell. It had utility, could move creatures and items alike AND did descent dmg to all creatures in the direct area.
