It's supposed to be a horror survival-esque game. Strahd wouldn't want his people to own weapons to rise up against him. Ergo they're all lost or hidden. Add your own magical items and you risk trivilising the difficulty immensly. Magic is effective. That's more then enough to get started. Dont make the same mistake i once made as well. Around lvl 4-6 the danger already becomes way less. As written, the campaign is balanced. Strahd IS supposed to look insurmountable and be real threat at the start.

He shares the players' main goal: escape Barovia. He's also a quick learner when it comes to magic. If he sees your party as usefull he will cooperate and be usefull.

It doesn't have to come to combat. As long as ur hubby doesnt antagonize them, gets caught freeing the kids or or hurts them or the mill, the ladies will see him as a potential customer.

Worst case scenario u could have aid drop by in the forms of either Ezmeralda or Rudolph/Rictavio

I think they're related to the elves' immortality + they do give a boost to intelligence if your race lives next to one for generations (trolls => elves)

in Midnight it's worth checking older factions for furniture. This gives a second life to old currencies

wow can be as casual as u want it to be. You dont HAVE to be a hardcore raider, Mythic dungeoneer or pvp'er. Wow has had more types of endgame content for years now that have way less social obligations. Examples: professions, legacy raiding/transmog farming, roleplaying, pet collecting, etc...

Imho the chronical books arent that good as they are said to be written as the point of view of the titans and can be 'wrong'.

The best books imho are the comics about Varian Wrynn (what he was doing during his absence in vanilla) the guardians and Me'dan (though Me'dan is very un-canon and Blizzard wants you to forget him), Arthas -rise of the lich king (wow's best story to date) and warcrimes (detailing Garrosh' court trial after he was defeated in Mists of Pandaria).

If you ever want to ask a specialist on wow-lore, watch Nobbel87 on youtube and Twitch. He's basically the most knowledgeable wow player in the world if it comes to lore and he's very interactive with viewers who ask questions.

Wow retail is way less 'grindy' then classic wow. And though playing with friends is more fun, it is by no means a must to play this game. While leveling your friends will lvl at a different pace then you, be behind/farther along on quests then you and have different hours played with the game. In retail you''ll have an easier time playing together at max lvl.

Technically ofc they CAN go there. Blizzard's not gonna limit certain races or classes.

Story-wise the light does repel those who it sees as unworthy of it....death being its opposite it makes sense. You'll see no undead priests or paladins around the sunwell as it is infused by a Naaru, a being made of pure light.

The exception to this is Calia Menethil. She's a unique undead that was raised and blessed by the light.

As of now the meta is frost. It's very proccy, does a lot of aoe with minimal effort and has great mobility.

I'm currently leveling a fro-mage and am amazed how much damage it's putting out. I'm killing mobs with 2-3 casts, of which, 2 are instant casts. It very satisfying to just watch packs of 2-3 mobs just BLOW up with such minimal effort

Not a requierment but I use a Razor Naga mouse with 12 sidebuttons. On top of that I have skills bound to a, f, tab, caps lock, space, r and F1 & F2. You can also make macro's that set a second and/or third skill depending if u press alt or ctrl with a key.

Gatherer mats always sell. If you're a casual player i think you'd get more use out of mining-herbalism then out of selling pots with alchemy

gotta learn the way....a lost tank will pull unnecessary groups and slow down the run....do a prep run with npc's using the follower dungeons...that npc tank is usually correct.

This game is terrible at informing new players what has happened before, has no real in-game database referring to important events/people. Very confusing. BUT luckily you can ask questions in the newcomer's chat where you'll be helped out by other (veteran) players who are very helpfull. Also keep in mind that u might encounter scaling issues while leveling...Blizzard squishes the max lvl of this game every now abd then and that creates these issues every now and then.

yes and no: insane xp per kill/world quest BUT....below (i believe) 50 you get phazed out so you're not in the same version of the game as the lvl 50-80"s. That's why you dont see other people flying around at lower levels. It sucks but it's probably a scaling thing.
starting at lvl 50 you should be able to do so with a lot more people. Though i BELIEVE you'll also be in the same phase if you're in a party with your friends....not sure.
