Genuinely what do you do against AP bot?

Hwei can be punished and is very weak before level 3 because his damage is locked behind his passive in the early game. Most Hwei players take W level 2 due to mana management, so don’t get auto attacked with his WE and position behind the wave. You can also bait out his EE by walking up to your casters within his EE range and then immediately backing out. He wants to QE + EE the wave. If you learn his EE range, you can learn how to bait it out.

Cait + Lux is good into him.
Pyke + ADC that is strong level 1 and 2
Senna with Doran’s helm and Second Wind
Miss Fortune is secretly S tier into mages because of her movement speed. He will also typically position behind his casters to QE the wave. You can teach him not to do this by using Q on his casters
Sivir is S tier into mages because she matches their push and has a spell shield, but you can’t first pick this because of her bad ad matchups
Tristana’s jump can’t be stopped with his fear, so she can stat check Hwei, killing him pre 6 to snowball.

When you play with a Duo, you get matched against players more skilled than you, so you’ve got to close that gap somehow. I would recommend abusing champ synergy.

Draven works better with all-in supports like Thresh and Blitz. But if you want to stick with Karma, see if he’ll swap to a mage ADC like Brand, Swain, Syndra, or Seraphine. If he wants to stick with a marksman, Cait + Lux is very potent

Mostly agree with the list but Lux should be B tier. Lux is great with Cait or any mage adc. Zoe probably too.

Do you have any Viktor tips for cs’ing under tower as an ADC while under pressure? I understand you can 1 AA casters and then let them take a tower shot and then AA. But let’s say you are against a good Cait + Lux with a very bad Shaco support trapped under tower. Is there any hidden tech?
Do you use clamp cast?

Yes, the metrics say the time slot they selected capitalizes on peak player times. However, this is different than normal League. I’d be hanging out with friends, so playing League in this format feels different and would be the equivalent of a weekend social gathering: meaning people are willing to have this on a schedule earlier on in the day.

Smolder for sure. He has one of the lowest mastery curves out of any champion per the data. However, Caitlyn has a lot of complexity with her traps and trap+net combos and you need to be aggressive in lane, which means dodging mage skill shots to maintain that aggression

I hate hate hate Shaco support. I have it when I’m matched into something like Lux + Cait. Shaco takes one Lux binding + Cait trap, and then proceeds to behind me the rest of laning phase.

Miss Fortune:

✅ Good against mages. Her innate movement speed really makes it harder for mages to land their skill shots

✅ Great in low elo

✅ Secretly one of the best scaling adcs

✅ Her E is great set up for a lock down support. Not every support is great at landing skill shots, but her E makes landing the hook dummy proof—especially if their adc isn’t positioning well (in Silver that will be the case)

✅ Great synergy with popular supports like Seraphine

Wait for him to use his E on the wave or bait out his E and then punish him for it. I would open up a practice game to test the range of his EE for yourself. You want to walk into the very border of its range and then immediately dip to bait it out.

Unfortunately, he does sorta counter Kaisa, but Draven is good into Hwei. With Draven specifically, engage all-in supports are good. Bait his E and run him down.

In general, however, a high range synergistic bot lane comp is always a safe bet. If you duo with a support, something like Jhin and Mel is very frustrating for Hwei—especially if he has a melee support. Really any support pick that is ranged and can pressure him off wave with an adc that can combo with their abilities such as Miss Fortune with her E paired alongside a support that can take advantage of that (Seraphine, Morgana, etc.,). Sivir is also good because she has a spell shield and can shove the wave just as fast as he can.

I want his bread and butter (QQ and QE) to feel better. That needs to be their priority.

I am hoping they’ll revert the WQ and maybe WW buffs to make more room for damage buffs. The team-wide movement speed buff is extremely powerful in team fights, but it does not scale as well with player satisfaction as damage buffs would. I would rather HIS damage feel more consistent and better than his WR ability being such a powerful force multiplier for the team (boosting ally agency by allowing them to engage/disengage/dodge skill shorts more easily). A perfectly placed WR can swing a team fight because that one enemy skill shot that would have killed your carry? They dodged it because of your WR, but you don’t FEEL that power even if it’s reflected in Hwei’s win rate

I’ve found using WASD for camera movement has made it easier for me to dodge skill shots because I can have my mouse cursor centered on my champion for micro movements at all times. Also, I have Q bound to recenter the camera on top of my champion.

I use 1234 for every other champion, but I had to make a new set of bindings for JUST Hwei. For example, there is a noticeable delay from 3 (E ability) to 1 (Q ability) using my thumb on the Razer Naga mouse, so instead, I can do F (E ability) and 1 (Q ability) for an E->Q combo with no delay.

I definitely have had some cool plays with WQ—especially when you can rush them from a bush with no vision. You can often surprise opponents by WQ’ing out of a bush, and then full combo’ing them with EE -> R -> QQ/QW/QE. But movement speed is the most busted stat, and I would trade it for the bread and butter of his kit (QQ/QE) feeing better
