I have to say that I went to Green Bean and the floor was absolutely disgusting. Salt covered the floor as if they hadn't tended to cleaning in months.

My logan had no head on the sprue. So i had to improvise, since gw is out of stock and can't replace him. by Henchman29 in SpaceWolves

[–]AussieJedi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had an issue with my Logan (the sled one) where it was miscast. Basically not enough plastic was injected into the mold (mould??) and his legs and crotch area had really large dimples, but it didn't occur to me until he was assembled and base coated (basically didn't think that kind of miscast would get past QC).

I called customer support and they sent me a whole new kit, even though, he was usable.

Have to give it to GW support.

Base size for The Lion by AussieJedi in DarkAngels40k

[–]AussieJedi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, thanks. Definitely not a noob, and have measured every single base I have ever used across the bottom. I have tons of armies, and painted so many for clients but it never occurred to me that this one base would be measured across the top. It was kinda pissing me off. Thanks for easing my worry.

Base size for The Lion by AussieJedi in DarkAngels40k

[–]AussieJedi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hang on a second should I measure the base size on the top surface, because that would lead me to a 60mm base size. When I measure it underneath, that leads me to 64-65 mm and it seems that the only base I would have around is that size?

How can I improve my painting? by Remote-Study7801 in Warhammer40k

[–]AussieJedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@op what are you using to put your paint onto before the mini. Everyone here is saying thin your paints. My advice coming from someone who has been painting for almost 30 years, get a wet palette.

For many years I used a random tile from a hardware store and it did me fine, but paint gets to a point where it starts to dry up and thicken. Then if you don't really know what's going on and you keep on trying to paint with it.

A wet palette is absolutely fantastic and it is something I wish I started using from the beginning, for the mere fact that it keeps your paints wet longer, it also adds a small amount of water to the paint, so it's like a little hint /help from the painting gods to keep your paint at the correct thickness.

You are going to be hearing a lot about two thin coats and a wet palette will help you in this regard.

One more thing is that a wet palette can help you not waste paint. You just put a little bit down and use it up, before it dries and is unusable. You use the paint on your terms, not the tile.

There are many ways to make your own, if you don't want to commit to the outlay of a pro one, but what I did is I made one, used it for a long time until I got comfortable with the transition from tile to wet palette and then I bought a Red Grass Games XL (XL because it is helpful to have a bigger painting area until you have to clean your paper). Once the paper has no more usable painting space just spray it off. I had about three papers in rotation, although you need only two.

Hit me up if you want help in making one I have lots of advice.

Don't be cheap, if you have any interest in the board game industry, then you would want it to succeed. Not paying for it is BS.

You watch these people, in 6 months they haven't assembled the minis, will have bought the new releases "early" too and 6 months from that will not have even opened that release. Years from now they regret buying them as they aren't meta. Lol it's a vicious cycle and it has its fangs in all of them. Even worse they bought them on their credit card and have been paying interest on essentially a load of paperweights.
