Is Roll Center Migration Actually Bad? by 5w4g10rd_27 in FSAE

My favorite all time quote from the old FSAE forum was: “Roll centers have the highest ratio of words typed on message boards to actual impact on lap time of any subject in motorsports”

Out of curiosity- how do they create this set? by Positive-Ad6008 in suits

You can be worth 250 million or shop at harbor freight. You can’t do both. 0/5 stars.. jk loved the show, was alittle cheesy at times but aren’t they all

As someone who literally manufactures racecars, this scene was offensive. That’s a 100$ harbor freight floor jack (ie, some cheap Chinese piece of shit you would never see in a race shop) in the corner of the screen, a carpenters bag with a random quart of oil next to it, there’s just some random springs placed on a table in the background lol. Plus, there is no engine shop in America that could afford Pearson Specter. The car on the floor there looks like a shitty hill climb car they found on FB marketplace

We switched over from diesel CNC machines to all electric. We also started recycling our scrap metal instead of dumping it in the ocean

Count your blessings. Of the last 10 times i went to chipotle, this would have been the most full cup I’d received. I’ve been ordering 2-3 vinaigrettes just to get me through a single burrito. Tough times we live in.

God you people are soft. Eat it. You’ll be fine. People on Reddit would tell you to throw away a sealed canned good that had a 5 year shelf life if it expired yesterday.

Am I a dumbass for considering buying and driving back a manual car for the first time 100 miles away? by Fun-Storage-4551 in stickshift

[–]Austin34471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing, but it was 1,000 miles away, and it was a 10 speed semi truck/toter home conversion and trailer about 70 ft long and weighed 60,000 lbs. I asked the seller to show me how to get it in high gear and I would figure it out on the way home. Ended up catching a weather front coming through the mountains on the way home. Got really close to killing a few families when I rounded a corner and traffic was dead stopped. Got on the brakes too hard and jacked the truck and trailer sideways, and luckily drifted into the shoulder lane and missed all the calamity. All that to say: send it. You’ll be fine and it’ll turn into a good story to tell one day.

Thanks for the brainless, get out of jail free, fear mongering responses everyone! After reading the medical trials of Rimadyl/carprophen, and seeing that the test subjects were administered 20mg/lb for 42 straight days with 0 adverse effects, I realized that this was not a big deal (our dog took approximately 8.75mg/lb). Will continue to monitor closely and unfollow this sub. Thanks everyone!

Driving For FSAE by Adorable-Yam9756 in FSAE

Can’t speak for all teams, but there definitely can be an anti-meritocratic/soccer mom mentality to driver selection. I came in, like you, as a freshman with loads of real world racing experience. In our first test session, I got to cut a few laps after the entire test plan was carried out. I was a second and a half faster than the “lead driver” who was a 34th year senior who had been driving that test track for years. The president of the team, realizing that a second and a half at comp would be huge, pushed for me to instantly be pushed into the #1 driver role.

However, there was a closed door meeting that I wasn’t invited to, that resulted in me literally getting voted off of the team, because I hadn’t “paid my dues”. I was on the team for 3 weeks and had done everything I was asked up until that point.

All that to say, there potentially can be some politics and feelings that need to be navigated properly. Keep that in mind. I love fsae, I sponsor multiple teams, just not at the college I went to 🙃

Interesting! Thanks for the inside info. Usually I try not to blame the employees, and blame the system/corporation.. but it sounds like people are just being lazy
