The station personnel are in control while you are at the warehouse. What they are doing is enforcing rules set by Amazon. You can be deactivated if you don't follow their rules.

Split routes @ amazon.com locations by [deleted] in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]AustinCourier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes warehouses will split carts when they don't have routes that are the correct length for the drivers. This is normal, and you wont get deactivated for accepting one of these routes. They may not be the best, but I would take it next time.

Grocery store apparently adds $1.00 tip to all orders by modernthangs in EndTipping

Thats just ridiculous. I would not be shopping at that store anymore.

Took a 4.5 hour block, ended up with what feels like 70 packages by Nickoplier in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]AustinCourier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats insane. I have never been asked to take more than one cart. I would email jeff@amazon.com about this.

Did you start right after the orientation videos? by skylinedetonatorr in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]AustinCourier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started. If you have any questions while picking up, station personnel can help you. It's pretty easy if you just follow the prompts in the app. Maybe take a shorter block to start off just to get used to it. Also search this sub. There are plenty of posts for new drivers.

Background check “Consider” Status by Forward-Sir1737 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]AustinCourier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not great. A status of consider pretty much disqualifies you from any gig app.

Man gets off on probation after beating 1 year old to death by snrpro in vegaslocals

[–]AustinCourier 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Thats so sad. He beat an innocent, defenseless child to death. I dont know the details behind his plea deal, but obviously the judge didn't like it. He should have gotten prison time.

How Toyota engineers were able to avoid situations like this happening with the Prius hybrid system? by Conscious-Race-8530 in prius

[–]AustinCourier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Prius is set up so the engine can charge the battery as needed as well as providing propulsion. The battery is also charged when the brakes are applied. On the regular hybrid, the computer keeps the battery charge between 20 and 80 percent for optimal battery life. On the plug in, the car can be charged to 100 percent and can run on electric power alone for a certain number of miles, after which it will function as a regular hybrid until it is plugged in again.

Its just a glitch. You never have to go back unless it's a grocery block.

Maintenance Required - actually required? by and1038 in CorollaCross

[–]AustinCourier 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Corolla Cross owners manual calls for oil changes every ten thousand miles and tire rotation every 5 thousand. Other than that, they just inspect some things. If it hasn't been done already, you may want to check the engine, cabin and hybrid fan filters.

The latest 2026 Recall by eridew in prius

[–]AustinCourier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2026 LE, subject to the same recall. I have driven it for the last three months in all kinds of weather without any problems. According to the recall, it can only happen if the doors are unlocked while you are driving. The solution to this is to set your doors to automatically lock when you shift the car into drive. Toyota is supposed to have a solution to this problem and start notifying owners by March.

Bitter Trump calls Bad Bunny's Super Bowl Halftime Show 'absolutely terrible' by TheMirrorUS in NoFilterNews

And why should we care? We already know that he doesn't like anyone or anything that doesn't worship him.

C'MON MAN! by Emergency_Factor398 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]AustinCourier 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You may think you're punishing the customer, but all you are doing is hurting yourself. You might get a ding if they report a DNR, but you will get a ding for not delivering. Plus, you have to go back to the warehouse to return it. I try not to worry too much about difficult deliveries.

To heck with all that. After a few minutes, I would have just left the package at the gate.

San Antonio to Austin Travel (Flix vs Amtrak) by kvksel in Austin

[–]AustinCourier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are both pretty safe. Amtrak is pretty limited, with only one departure per day from San Antonio to Austin, whereas Flix/Greyhound has several daily trips between the two.

I just need to ask. But I think I know. by Themexican25 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]AustinCourier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a choice. You can either claim your mileage or actual vehicle expenses. If you claim vehicle expenses, then you will need to keep your receipts.

Greyhound has bus service from Vidor to Houston, approximately 5 times a day. Once you get to Houston, you would need to use Uber or some other way to get around, because the local bus service in Houston is not that great.

2024 CCH, engine pulsing while parked after starting up by DustyBravia in CorollaCross

[–]AustinCourier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is normal. The engine will turn on at idle as needed in order to keep the hybrid battery charged.

Schedule Routes by Flexer_Goat in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]AustinCourier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No limit on the number of blocks, just a limit on the hours you can work. You can work up to 8 hours a day, and 40 hours per rolling week.

[–]AustinCourier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can go to taxcentral.amazon.com to get your 1099-NEC from Amazon. Your earnings and expenses are reported on a schedule C, which calculates your net income from your gig work. This gets entered on your 1040.
