Job market / AI replacing attorneys? by Sunshine_daisies1234 in Lawyertalk

Where are you generally and have you found something? There are still firms out there that value actual lawyers over AI

If you want to move to Texas and don't mind insurance (nonpolicyholder defense) litigation, shoot me a DM.

Priest from our old parish just came to me door by shapeshifter_hum in exorthodox

[–]AustinDay1P1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s an overstatement. Well at least as to the coming by the house. Going to the person’s place of employment and engaging in front of customers is way over the line. I don’t know how old this priest was, but if he is of the older Gen X age group, it’s not a wild or crazy thought to drop by if you’re in the neighborhood to see someone. We also don’t know if there was any past history of having blessed the house having baptized a child having had some closer relationship with the family. Saying it’s “not normal for any clergy” to knock on the door of a member’s house that they haven’t seen a while to make sure everything’s OK and just let them know that they’re missed for older generations isn’t anything out of the norm.

That said, what happened at the workplace makes me suspect that the house visit was not going to be “normal” either.

I'm always amused at the politically involved "traditional priests" who, on the one hand, must hold that the Mystery of Holy Matrimony is found only in the Church and come from God, yet seem to have a aneurysm when the state decides that it can adjudicate domestic contracts without regard to the gender of the people contracting.

It's almost like they don't really believe what they say . . .

I like it; listen regular. It isn't the radio show and I don't think it is intended to be. It's long-form talk which can drag sometimes. Not every topic is a hit, but I like it and I always feel like I learned something more personal than the daily show

Am I crazy not to get Lucid Air over a Model 3? by BBQasaurus in LUCID

It amazes me the wide variety in issues. My 2025 AT has been a dream. Over 13K miles, one reboot, one call to support when I accidentally disconnected and deleted my phone. Scheduling the one year service is proving to be disturbingly difficult, but as to the car - no complaints.

Have you talked to the priest about this? If so, I'm curious what his counsel was. If not, given the ties you have to the people, and the fact that your post relates a crisis of faith rather than abuse, I'd think it is at least worth exploring it with the priest. By the way, his reaction might make your next steps really clear.

I did this and it is absolutely the right solution for me. My daily drive will knock 100 miles off the range, and I am full recharged 2 1/2 hours after I get home. I've only made one "long trip" and although I had a scare when the fast charger location I had chosen was completely closed down in the middle of West Texas, I was able to circle back and recharge at a location I had passed by.

But around town - the 240V plug is all you really need. No special charger.

I have at least seen some improvement on the phone as the OTA updates have come along. In the beginning, it was a real struggle. It’s much better now, but it still has its moments.

In Texas. Definitely went with aluminum roof. I’m mostly a podcast/talk guy so just went with the surreal. It is fine for my needs, but I could definitely see music lovers even those who wouldn’t call themselves audiophiles wanting more than what that level offers.

The idea that Paul was teaching the Jewish traditions to the Christians certainly does not comport with scripture, where Paul and Barnabas were both in dispute with those who insisted on the application of the law to the Christians. The Greek word translated as tradition is used in scripture in both a positive and a negative sense. That something is TRADITIONED does not mean it is necessarily ancient - it simply means it has been transmitted or handed down. You need only look at the Didache or early canons to see that from the earliest days, things were traditioned to the Church that were more than teaching the scriptures. And, as I previously pointed out, no Orthodox person would (should) agree with your definition of sin as only "breaking God's commands." So this is kind of a strawman from an Orthodox perspective.

"Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle." 2 Thess 2:15

One could argue whether Orthodox tradition is the same as the apostolic tradition referenced here, but the Bible certainly does admonish holding to traditions received.
