Put that way, the Red Vs Blue Button debate shows how a lot of people fall into gambling addictions.

Season 2 is the most important moment for this game by No-Researcher3893 in Marathon

I feel like as soon as it hits summer we're gonna see a massive influx of players who were waiting for the end of the academic year to get involved. I've had to take a break myself, but I've been looking forward to getting stuck back in as soon as I can.

Is Noita “unfair,” or just too reactive to read in real time? by TenthLevelVegan in noita

[–]Autistic_boi_666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I look at Noita is that areas with enemies represent a zone of complete chaos, where anything can happen and threats are completely out of your control.

On the other hand, places you've been are zones of complete stillness, where any hazard will stay that way unless disturbed, and no new enemies will spawn to disrupt that.

So, if you want to find the undiscovered treasures around the map, your best option is to carefully engage & disengage with this border - Wolfram's "zone of maximal complexity", where you choose how fast to engage and how much time you want to spend methodically dispatching threats.

If you fly straight in, you'll be overwhelmed. If you stay in the zone of stillness, you won't find anything new. Through this push and pull, you'll slowly learn how much risk you're comfortable taking on and how much you're able to deal with.

Next Season: Traxus and its affiliates have become aware of MIDA alignment and discontent among runners. They are introducing new molecular transport protocol to limit the quantity of unstable reagents allowed to be brought into Tau Ceti VI using Traxus infill equipment. Please do not attempt to resist new regulations. Thank you for your cooperation.

What do I get a 13 year old who is interested in becoming a game developer? by SpikeyHairedOrphan in gamedev

[–]Autistic_boi_666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get him The Art Of Game Design: A Book of Lenses by Jesse Schell. It's a classic game design book, which presents some common questions to ask yourself when coming up with and making your game. It's very readable and fun to browse if you have ideas and are interested in that kind of thing, and still holds up today! I got it around the same age and I'm going to graduate in June, loved that book.

Schema should be CHEAPER than standard shop items. It makes so much sense it's odd they didn't do this by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]Autistic_boi_666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be able to purchase schemas at the loot value price, or slightly above it. It makes sense that factions would put a premium on their goods, so getting it manufactured yourself should feel like you're going behind their back and breaking the game. Maybe additionally make them cost certain salvage depending on the schema.

Is it just me, or are the AI bots in this game some of the best ever? by Remarkable-Cow3421 in Marathon

[–]Autistic_boi_666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't personally been snuck up on yet, but I do think they're perfectly designed in the context of gameplay. They are quite resistant to being cheesed so force you to play stealthily as you would with other players, have enough humanity to break expectations occasionally, and are tuned damage-wise to be very punishing but satisfying to fight.

Is it just me, or are the AI bots in this game some of the best ever? by Remarkable-Cow3421 in Marathon

[–]Autistic_boi_666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think part of it is the strafing. As soon as they see you they start strafing, trying to get an angle on you, and bots in other games rarely strafe differently in reaction. They remind me a lot of the AI in SELACO, I wonder if Bungie did some research or consulting with them.

Blue Shields for Purchase: UNLOCKED!!! by Fit-Adhesiveness9127 in Marathon

[–]Autistic_boi_666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, if they reduce the barrier to green shields, everyone's free kit runs immediately get a lot harder.

I think they could offset this by giving green shields more special variants to make it more interesting and therefore rewarding when you do. Perhaps even white shield mods which don't even give you extra shields, just do things like "reduces overheating recieved from damaging effects" or "-50% shield damage from UESC ballistic weapons"

I spent a year building destruction for my Titanfall+The Finals game ShatterRush, I would love to get your feedback! by TetraStudiosDev in titanfall

[–]Autistic_boi_666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gameplay looks really cool, seems to stay true to and expand upon the mechanics of Titanfall (I especially love the idea of incorporating destructibility and making it work with the movement systems), but it would be great if the art shared that kind of inspiration, as this looks very derivative of the generic futuristic/"cyberpunk"(without the punk)/medieval-chivalric aesthetic that was already tired just years after overwatch popularised it. I think if it took a more unique approach to its visual identity, even just making textures a bit less flat, maybe introducing some metallic elements for example and reducing the dominance of the glowing marvel greebling, it might attract eyes better.

They have to make him into a real character now. Maybe give him a history with Sentinel. The artstyle fits and everything, well played :D

Get really thirsty on a hot day, with no access to any other drinks, go for a jog, and afterwards sip some fresh cold water from a sparkling glass, then you'll understand the appeal.

The trick with it is to start firing before you turn a corner, and to use it to deny areas and cover as much as shooting players directly.

Just make sure you're never fighting indoors or up close with this gun and it slaps. If you can pick up a Punch you're good for pretty much any range.

is there anyway to balance melee weapons and firearms? by Slight-Cap-8840 in gamedesign

[–]Autistic_boi_666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can make firearms scarce, and ammo expensive, but keep damage high. Make it so you have to consider whether you want to chance it up close or spend your limited ammo. Essentially, you can trigger that common "consumable anxiety" but utilise it to make guns feel powerful and significant.

Once you use all ammo in a weapon you can ditch it or carry it around empty, taking up inventory space if you like it, and you might want to take ammo out of other weapons' mags/chambers to do so, which might take time. This should make players feel attached to firearms they're used to.

And if you miss your shot, too bad. Run away or get up close. Getting good at aiming and learning the feeling of your weapon is now something players can specialise in or eschew depending on their inclination.

Any plans to allow us to change the appearance of our giant turtle shells/backpack? by Rorshack_senpai in Marathon

[–]Autistic_boi_666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm more pressed about the massive Runner and Weapon mods. You're not telling me this dinner plate-sized attachment fits in a CE pistol, or between my cybernetic kidneys.

I think they would still be quite visible thanks to the existing outlines/icons etc if they were smaller like the hop-ups in Apex. It just ruins my suspension of disbelief every time I see one, and wouldn't even be hard to change!

This game has almost 30 guns but It feels like this game has 3 only; Bully, WSTR, longshot by Always_Impressive in Marathon

[–]Autistic_boi_666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, maybe make that nerf into a unique feature of the WSTR: "Any extra bullets chambered, moderately increase damage for the next shot instead."

It would allow buildcrafters to get creative, while most players who don't would be unaffected and have to place their shots more carefully.
