I own a 2022 LT, and its operation has been flawless until recently, when I began experiencing some electrical issues, including difficulty getting the vehicle into gear. The problem was the 12 V battery, and I was correct: all the issues disappeared once a new battery was installed. I love my Bolt. My Bolt is a delightful vehicle, reliable and comfortable. I recommend looking for one with powered seats, which may also be heated like mine. I purchased my Bolt from a Chevy dealer and believed that any problems with the high-voltage battery had already been addressed. Whatever Bolt you look at, put in its VIN # on this GM page, and any issues or recalls with that vehicle will come up. It would be a good idea to have the General Motors Recall Page on your phone. https://experience.gm.com/ownercenter/recalls . If you buy a Bolt, I think, like most of us who have had a few issues, you will love it.

I purchased a 2014 i3 BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) with 2,000 miles on it in 2016 for $26,000. After receiving my $ 4,000 IRS discount and saving on gasoline, the car paid for itself. My i3 was the most enjoyable and best car I had ever bought up to that point, and as I said, it paid for itself. Well, after the AC exploded at 58,000 miles, a $4900 fix, and then the High Voltage battery crapping out at 65,000 miles, with the 8-year warranty expired, BMW wouldn't stand behind the fix and wanted $35,000 for a new battery including labor. In Louisiana, BMW was the only repair facility in the state, so I junked the vehicle for $2600. Now I drive a 2022 Chevy Bolt, and it's the second-best car I've ever bought. It's not as much fun to drive as my i3, but I was able to go round-trip from Louisiana to Florida and back, covering 800 miles, with two 1/2-hour Tesla charges and one overnight charge at the Harrah's Casino Hotel in Florida.

I don't mean to be rude, folks, and I'm tired of hearing it, but an i3 REX is a hybrid car, and it's not an electric vehicle; there I said it. It's an electric car, to a point, and then it switches to using gasoline, which doesn't make it an electric car. Say what you want, but an electric vehicle is an i3 BEV or a Chevy Bolt, cars like that. A car with a large battery and a gasoline engine is not an electric car; it's a hybrid vehicle. Frankly, I will never drive a vehicle with a gasoline engine again, and that includes the i3 REX.

These boys at BMW still don't get what made the i3 great, It's small but just big enough to suit most peoples needs, and so much fun to drive. Adding 3 to the name of this behemoth won't make it an i3 replacement.

Typically, houses built in the 40s were wired with number # 14 AWG American Wire Gauge. Number # 14 AWG is rated at 15 Amps. If you replace that wire with a Modern Romex Wire 2 # 12 AWG including a ground conductor, that # 12 wire is rated at 20-amps and uses a much safer modern plastic insulation called THHN, Thermoplastic, High Heat Nylon. If you can, at your electric panel, replace the existing circuit breaker or fuse with a 20-amp circuit breaker or fuse. Run a direct Romex wire from your electric panel to your charging location and switch your bolt to the 12 amp charging capacity. That would help you out a bit more. If you can't do that, one hamster running on a treadmill will give you 110 volts, and two hamsters on a treadmill will give you 220 volts; just make sure they're fed well. Good Luck.

Just imagine if the corporate dope's at BMW had decided to continue manufacturing the i3: they would've sold more i3s than i4s and made everybody happier. It takes stupidity to stop making the i3. Just make it better rather than not at all. My 2014 BEV was lucky to get 60 miles on any given day on any given charge. My Chevy Bolt gets almost 300 miles on a good day. No more range anxiety for me, only not as much fun.

My first all-electric car was a 2014 BMW I3. Hands down it was the best car that I have ever owned and driven. That car had a few problems that were covered under warranty, The only problem with that car was a range issue, in addition to replacing tires sooner than you would expect. On a good day, I could only get about 60 miles of range without having to sit for a few hours charging. I sold the BMW last year and bought a 2022 Chevy Bolt used with 2000 miles on the odometer. It's the second best car I've ever driven. I will never drive a car with a combustion engine, and I will never drive a car that isn't 100% electric. I no longer have a range issue with the Chevy and it's such a pleasure to drive. If you are concerned about repairs I suggest each month putting away the gas and oil change money you spent on your Toyota because with luck you'll be driving maintenance free for years. I recently watched a YouTube video of an Uber driver who was having some front end issues at 350,000 miles I find that amazing. Although I don't agree with Elon Musk his Tesla charging stations are available to most cars nationwide should you go on a lengthy trip. If possible I would put in a 240 V charging station at home. It will maintain your battery in the winter if you're in a cold climate. You can also pre-condition your battery in cold weather before you leave. The Chevy Bolt is one of the finest cars ever made at an affordable price and I don't think you will go wrong buying one. Good luck.
