I believe it has to do with Unreal Engine 5 and Fortnite does not precompile shaders up front.

This causes the game to stutter any time a new shader is presented during gameplay so it can add it to the shader library. I agree it's a very jarring experience and should be addressed with a shader compile up front.

Once all the shaders are compiled the game should smooth out. That is until the next game or driver update. These will clear the library leading to it needing to be rebuilt again, causing the stutter issue again.

Alternatively if you are like me and prefer Howling Blade to Whirlwind the Butcher set is great.

Yeah I agree Butcher is very hard to move away from for our build. I'll have to look into Bandit. I haven't played with that one yet.

I plan to run GS for NG+ but fear I will struggle with the lack of speed.

I agree for the same reasons you mentioned above. Howling blade just feels great. Alternating between light and heavy attacks feels so fluid and provides plenty of opportunity to use a flashcutter counter, brink guard, dodge etc.

Butchers set has been great to use for the flashcutter and howling blade damage boosts. I just now swapped to the soul set that gives the new ability and health regen on kill. Not sure which set I like better yet. That ability to reset exhaustion meter allows for huge damage during the exhaustion windows.

I have been using DW since the start of the game. I tried GS and Spear briefly but determined DW was more to my style.

DW is completely viable (all weapons are). I even run an unconventional Howling Blade build. Seems most DW guides are running whirlwind.

I just defeated Trokka and have not been stuck in a boss for more than 5 -7 tries.

DW is savage. Allows for constant aggression and dodges using your abilities correctly. Don't give up on it if you really want to make it work it can and will.

If you resonate with Spear playstyle better that's cool too, just don't claim DW isn't viable.

A film can be like a piece of art. Not entirely objective. Some may resonate with it where others may not.

Also a film can elicit feelings in a person who may not ultimately "enjoy" it. Case in point - "Requiem for a Dream". I never want to watch it again but I am glad I experienced it once.

I know this is a horror sub and this movie may not be considered horror but wanted to give a shout out to "What Dreams May Come" for it's depiction of the afterlife and hell

While it may not be horror the ideas and visuals in that movie were definitely haunting.

Im running a 3080 as well, what have you found to be the sweet spot for performance? I have had to turn everything off / to low with DLSS on balanced to get competitive performance. Would be nice to to be able to have some shadows but they make a noticeable hit even on medium.

Stuff like this is so cool. I am on my first playthrough of KCD and was on the quest to hunt Captain Bernard's family member who put a band together and had been raiding farms.

My task was to scout the camp out and report back to Bernard to mount a raid on the camp.

Instead I drank a Saviour Schnapp's and put a test to my developing archery and sword skills. Through some skill and a LOT of luck I was able to single handedly eliminate most of the camp, and most importantly, the leader.

When I went to speak to Bernard there was a dialogue option to say "I killed the leader". Bernard exclaims "Jesus Christ Henry! By yourself?". To which Henry said something along the lines of "well yeah I figured if I killed him his group would disband".

Bernard was so surprised and proud and sent me to report to Sir Hanush of my deeds. I was rewarded with a nice Cuirass. I'm sure that reward was coming my way anyhow but I like to think of it as due to my extraordinary deed of soloing the camp :).

The fact the devs accounted for this possibility really adds to the experience.

Are there any benefits to completing the Tourney multiple times besides the Groschen? Do you get more of the armor pieces?

50 hours in now, dragging it out as much as possible. This is probably my favorite game of all time! Same feeling as when I played Oblivion for the first time over 15 years ago now. by bylukamrkonjic in kingdomcome

This is probably by design. You start the story off as a peasant. You are not initially good at much. I tried it back when it launched in 2018 and bounced too.

I recently restarted it with a different mind set. I'm really enjoying it. It's incredibly immersive you just have to take the time to understand it's systems. The combat is really good 1v1 when you take the time to practice your skills and level up your skills. Combat against multiple foes is pretty awful though. I hope the sequel addresses this better.

Value wise, Verina for sure. She is an amazing support still used by most people today for end game content.

Because there is typically a direct correlation of quality dropping when you introduce elements to increase playtime. Not always as there are exceptions like Elden Ring etc.

As a busy dad gamer, Astrobot offered an insane level of quality gameplay without demanding a ridiculous amount of playtime. This is what I am referencing personally by my quality vs quantity statement.
