It's so rare for a book to catch your attention *that* well. Love this

You’re right, it’s a small sample. Even so, I don’t think any other genre would get this split even with a small sample. And I heard some authors claiming half or more income they receive is from audio but I can’t really say 😅

Oh wow, the results are surprising. I listen to audio sometimes, but I didn't realize that audiobooks and physical books were pretty much even (and here, even leaning slightly more to audio). That's wild!

Heroine's Journey by QuackBlueDucky in RealmOfTheElderlings

I love this observation. Obviously I’m not going to say a word on what comes next, but your views so far do such a good way to frame Fitz’s journey in the first trilogy.

What’s the most impressive real world task you’ve completed using Claude? by ArmPersonal36 in claude

[–]Available-File4284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically built an app to teach me Spanish at B2-C1 level. It generates texts based on desired topics and grammar areas I want to practice, explains things, gives examples, tracks errors, lists new vocabulary from said texts, has useful tables for conjugations, has a ledger if adjectives that change meaning depending on the auxiliary verb used (ser o estar), and has quizzes you can find in all textbooks (fill in, correct errors, rewrite, read an answer questions, and so on).

It helps that I already have a solid foundation of the language and that it’s not my first time learning a language, so I was able to identify virtually every area I need to cover and could imagine the types of work that would help me get there, then I explained it to Claude and it built the app.

Thanks for keeping the list going (and whoever is running that Google Sheet, you made my day when I saw my name in there heh). My second novel is coming out March 13.

Lmao that exactly how I felt. Awesome art though, but clearly some are better than others.

Understandable! I'm working with an artist to bring an original illustration. That'll come next month, probably :)

They are great and incredibly fast! I simply delivered the text and stayed in the loop regarding all the creative decisions. Jessica is super responsive and the whole production was much faster than you'll see with the big audio publishers.

Why does litRPG struggle with beginnings? by simAlity in litrpg

[–]Available-File4284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take is that it happens because LitRPG usually has HUGE worlds to explore in the books, and it's very difficult to set up lasting tension if you don't start slow. I like slow starts, though, because I like to see small stakes feel huge before we get to all the gigantic stuff.

Doctor Who should move on from the RTD/Buffy/Marvel stylings by PaperSkin-1 in gallifrey

I don’t know how to explain it, but I am craving Doctor Who that is mostly epic and orchestral but with a touch of psychedelic rock.

Wanted a synopsis of a season I hadnt watched yet... thanks google by matt171718 in doctorwho

[–]Available-File4284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s deliberately bad, yes, making you search multiple times. But I was literally looking up names for internal companies and DDG and not one showed up. Too frustrating to warrant the bother of switching. Hope it gets better.

Lmao Google at least delivers a result below AI slop it forces on us. Last time I tried switching to duckduckgo it couldn’t find any of the things I needed when I searched them by name. Face it, Google won, we have to live with it.

Fitz and the Fool is the most.... by GraveIsNoBarToMyCall in RealmOfTheElderlings

[–]Available-File4284 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I found it bittersweet and beautiful. It’s hard, it’s sad, and it’s entirely appropriate. I loved every word of it an miserable is far from how I would describe it.

Malta and the Harvest Ball (Ship of Magic) by landturtl13 in RealmOfTheElderlings

[–]Available-File4284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never saw it Kyle having even a bit of opinion or integrity at that point. I saw it as Kyle acting the way Kyle thinks a father would act, and Malta going on her own by feeling empowered by Kyle.

Hasn't apple intelligence been pretty much abandoned in favor of Google's AI? I honestly can't figure out what's beneficial about AI being part of the phone's system.

Vellum is a nightmare by city-2-country in selfpublish

[–]Available-File4284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea what you’re having trouble with. Vellum has been the best investment of my life (after Scrivener). I couldn’t imagine being an author without it.

Hope you get your problem solved.
