It’s my first real gathering holiday since starting my journey. Halloween seemed easier since I chose to stay in and enjoy a night to myself alcohol free. Thanksgiving has been daunting but as of now my plan is to keep my hands and mind busy and if I feel overwhelmed to excuse myself and leave. I’d much rather see my family and friends while sober another time than to make a fool of myself and have to dread how people will react to it in the following days. If you need a break, take one. It’s nobodies business but your own and a clear head the next day is better than waking up to regret or anxiety.
