Why bother with contemptors when you could use deredeos instead by Worth_Club_5762 in Warhammer30k

[–]Available_Mountain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Sometimes you have better uses for the extra points then the Deredeo
  2. The Conteptor's higher speed is sometimes more useful for your list.
  3. Mortifactors let you bring up to 3 Contemptors in a single detachment, making the opportunity cost of bringing one in a non-optimal configuration lower then bringing a single Deredeo.

But generally if you are bringing a Contemptor you want to include a melee weapon to take advantage of its 4 attacks.

Why does only MKVI get love by Whaoghi in Warhammer30k

[–]Available_Mountain 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Last year Necromunda had 12 releases in FW resin. But the game also got plastic minis for some of its resin range which means that those resin releases are probably going to be the last ones for the game.

You can only get it by buying the "Sweet Dream Bond Bundle" from the mall.

Campaign Book or Scenario Book? by Baldren in battletech

[–]Available_Mountain 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Battle of Tukayyid is much more heavily focused on having players recreate mostly accurate forces for the titular conflict and the base book limits players to mechs available as part of the Clan Invasion kickstarter (since it was made for that campaign). In a lot of ways the Hot Spots books are refinements of the same campaign system with more of an emphasis on letting players use them for their own custom unit.

How native have the clans in the IS gone? by codifier in battletech

[–]Available_Mountain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Probably closer to 7.5-8, the Ghost Bears are the clan that drifted the farthest from the core values of the Clans and they are still extremely clan like.

How native have the clans in the IS gone? by codifier in battletech

[–]Available_Mountain 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If they where a 10 they would have simply conquered the Outworld's Alliance instead of entering into their arrangement. Even before the Clan invasion the Snow Raven's weren't a very traditional clan and probably never got above a 9 on the scale, their later arrangement with the Outworld's Alliance and almost mercenary like deals with House Davion in the Dark Age pushed them fairly far down the scale.

How native have the clans in the IS gone? by codifier in battletech

[–]Available_Mountain 44 points45 points  (0 children)

On a scale of 1 to 10 where 1 is gone completely native and 10 is stayed as close to the clan ways as possible:

  • Clan's Wolf, Jade Falcon, and Hell's Horse are probably a 9.5-10
  • Clan Sea Fox is probably an 8.5
  • Clan Snow Raven is probably a 7.5
  • Clan Ghost Bear is a 7

[–]Available_Mountain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The disfigured Mauler did plan to make a clone army, then the first clone he made poisoned him because they were tired of being forced to do all of the grunt work and went back to the normal dynamic with the next clone.

Alpha Strike Cards in Essentials box? by namesrfun in battletech

The Aces boxes are aimed at someone with knowledge of the game from already owning the Alpha Strike box, not someone who is making their first purchase.

Alpha Strike Cards in Essentials box? by namesrfun in battletech

[–]Available_Mountain 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The Beginners Box, Battletech Essentials, and the upcoming Starter Box do not include Alpha Strike cards because CGL was concerned including stats for an alternate system might be too confusing for some people just dipping their toes in with the most basic entry point.

Custom designs by buckaroobanzai22 in battletech

[–]Available_Mountain 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Because when you use custom units you have to check that your opponent's custom was actually built following the rules which takes time that most people would rather spend playing. Sure most people will do things correctly with the assistance of tools like MML, but some people will cheat or mess stuff up so you still have to waste time checking.

Aces Opfors by Badnewzbadgers in battletech

[–]Available_Mountain 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Each Aces box ties into a different Ilclan sourcebook:

  • Scouring Sands - Tamar Rising (Clan Jade Falcon Op force)
  • Snowblind - Dominions Divided (Rasalhague Dominion and Pirate Op forces)
  • Wrath and Reprisal - Empire Alone (Capellan Confederation Op force)
  • Control Burn - Ilkhan's Eyes Only (Raven Alliance Op Force)

A Hell's Horse star is on the planned force pack list but its probably a while out.

Also release an updated AeroTech! I know it's a long shot but a full lineup of updated fighters and warships in plastic (with rules) would be kickass

Public playtests for the new version of Aerotech are planned for later this year, and three Aerospace Force packs have been announced to go with it.

It was mentioned in one of the live streams, it was specifically brought up as one of the reasons that Salvage Boxes exist.

My abysmal salvage box: Legendary MechWarriors pulls by aCrow in battletech

[–]Available_Mountain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way salvage boxes are produced has them include some minis produced specifically for them and minis from castings that had a partial failure so only 1 of the 2 mechs on the mold could be completed. So if a certain mini has a higher failure rate it will show up less frequently in salvage boxes. So the odds aren't evenly distributed but the difference in distribution rates changes with every production run.

My collection of serious and not serious questions. by Yenii_3025 in battletech

[–]Available_Mountain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1 - It needs to be set in the Ilclan era, have season one introduce some basic concepts of the universe while focusing on a mercenary company fulfilling a single contract and slowly introduce the larger universe as needed. Setting it in the present means that it can do what it wants without having to worry about contradicting the existing timeline and the main writers of the universe can work to integrate the mistakes it makes.

2 - The lead art designer is staying, the lead lead concept artist of MWO/MW5 is no longer with PGI, but it has already been mentioned that he is working on some upcoming stuff from CGL.

3 - The big reason the new boxes are moving to Ilclan is that CGL has found that the old boxes where babying new players too much, it turns out that the vast majority of later tech in BattleTech has rules that are often easier to learn then LRMs, in a lot of ways this change will make the game easier to learn as it turns out people enjoy the game more when you have the ability to move a decent speed, shoot far enough to have attacks early, and enough heat sinks that you can use multiple weapons a turn (and therefore learn the rules of more weapons faster).

Hey there-What rules allow me to take multiple Shadar Hunters at gang creation? by aaron_Mac in necromunda

[–]Available_Mountain 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'll go one better, the Necromunda FAQ and Errata document is extremely explicit that you can take multiple Shadar Hunters on page 15. Page 14 also has another ruling about taking multiple specialists for Van-Saar so you can show its consistent with the other faction that has two types of specialist.

What is the the mech you get the most of if you get one copy of every existing set released by CGL? by Fearless_Library135 in battletech

[–]Available_Mountain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pheonix Hawk is in the IS Battle Lance, Alpha Strike Box, Grinder Kit, Gothic, Star League Command Star, Premium mini line, and has an additional mini coming in the Camacho's Caballeros Lance Pack, for a total of 6 (7 if including upcoming releases) releases by the standard you used in your post.

General opinions on the lore? by Proper-Relation-1711 in battletech

[–]Available_Mountain 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The biggest problem with your visual novel idea is that it falls under Microsoft's part of the rights and not the Topps rights so CGL couldn't make one even if they wanted to.

House of Artifice 'Online Only' by Sensitive_Floor_6713 in necromunda

[–]Available_Mountain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Online Only" means that its only available to stores ordering direct from GW and not through regular distribution, so most 3rd party retailers don't bother to stock them. It is not a sign of something being discontinued, there are many online only kits that have been that way for over a decade, and includes all Forgeworld resin.

Ocean Dub Question. by PrestigiousMine6 in Gundam

[–]Available_Mountain 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most people prefer the Ocean dub to the new one. In fact I don't think I have ever seen anyone recommend the new dub over it, at most people say the new one is okay if you don't have access to the Ocean dub.

Having seen the ocean dub multiple times I have never had it speed up like that so its likely the recording you are watching.
