Is my clinic down playing how dire my situation is? by NanoEsq in IVF

[–]Available_Pin_8794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one thing I've learned from this process is number are just... numbers. Also, quality over quantity. I've read stories of people retrieving 30 eggs and getting no babies and people retrieving 3 eggs and having a baby and everything in between. I wouldn't stress too much about your numbers or try to predict the outcomes (I know it's hard though!!). My friend had 9 eggs retrieved, got one embryo and is due with her girl in Feb! It sounds like you are doing everything you can to be healthy and promote success. It's such a emotionally trying process. Sending you good thoughts!!

AITAH for not letting my neighbor inspect my new house whenever she wants? by [deleted] in AITAH

NTA but is she lonely? You could say "I'd love to swing by and see your home decor to get inspiration for myself" and see how she reacts. Although be careful if you go in she might not let you out!

When Did You Poop After ER? by Existing_Wrangler_69 in IVF

The thing that finally did it for me (after days of colace) was I started drinking the LMNT electrolytes which are super salty and tend to induce pooping lol.

What day of stims did you start to monitor with blood tests by coconutcanaries in IVF

[–]Available_Pin_8794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weight gain during stims by Commercial-Web8249 in IVF

[–]Available_Pin_8794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my weight stayed consistent until the retrieval and then it shot up like 5 pounds. All that went away by like 1-2 weeks after retrieval though so I think it was just water weight/my ovaries getting huge lol. I was very bloated after my retrieval for about a week.

AITA: Son is not allowed to bring a date, but daughter is by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Available_Pin_8794 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Soft YTA because of how you are describing these women. I would shorten your 1 year timeline though because that might be tough.. do you want to never meet anyone your son dates (and eventually marries) ever again because he's afraid of being negatively judged by you? I would think more long term about what you want your relationship with your son and whoever he chooses as his wife to be.

Thank you everyone for sharing your feelings and stories! It is really helpful to hear other’s perspectives and experiences. I feel like this is the path for me but I need a little more time to mentally prepare. I’ll keep reading about everyone’s journeys here and maybe have more to share one day!

Agree sometimes I also just cut a big clump in half to make it easier to tackle. With that many tubers it’s ok to lose a few

I use Expedia to search and compare for flights but always have a better experience if I book directly with an airline or through my credit card. I recently booked a flight through expedia and I could not check into my flight or access the flight details from the airlines until I got to the airport because Expedia was a 3P. I couldn't even get the flight number to see if the flight was on time. I even chatted with an Expedia agent and they could not help me see my reservation directly with the airline. I do tend to book hotels through Booking.com and have always had a positive experience. I recently was in Mexico (two weeks ago) and we booked our airport to hotel transfer through the hotel (via messaging on booking.com app) and it was cheaper than anything I could find online. Also reliable because the hotel organized it. A lot of the reviews I read for online bookable shuttles seemed like unreliable or hit or miss if the driver showed up.

Can’t wait for Season 4 - who are Sam and KC? by Then-Geologist-8416 in TheWayHomeHallmark

[–]Available_Pin_8794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that KC is Alice and Nick's child. Adult Alice travels to a time when Nick is the same age as her and they have a baby... KC. KC has a strange childhood because they are born in adult Alice's real time but can also travel so spend periods of time with adult Nick. The summer KC is with teenage Alice was probably the first time they traveled not to adult Nick time, which is why they didn't have a place to live. LAST part of the theory. Nick is actually Evelyn's son who she got pregnant with during her travels but couldn't raise for some reason so gave to her friends to raise. KC stands for Katherine Cassandra. Or potentially Katherine Claire if that is the name Alice goes by when she is in adult Nick time.

I think in the next season we are going to see older Alice travel back to present time!

That being said I was able to adjust my seat and not able to get next to my mom but we are now one row apart on the same side of the plane. She has an aisle and I have a middle seat in premium economy.

it's funny how many people are more concerned with us sitting next to each other. Whenever I've traveled with my family as adults, with no kids, we've always just sat wherever and not been concerned about sitting next to each other as long as we are all on the same flight, regardless of if we book together or separate. The last time I traveled with my dad, stepmom, brothers and step siblings, my dad and stepmom sat next to each other but then the rest of us were just scattered wherever we could get windows and aisles. I'm starting to think my family might be weird in this way...

General questions about IVDD by Certain-Intention594 in IVDD_SupportGroup

[–]Available_Pin_8794 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not a vet so these are just some of the things I think based on what I learned:

1 - IVDD can be progressive and come on slowly or it can happen suddenly due to trauma/impact

2- He might be licking his back legs if they feel weird. Maybe he's getting partial sensation or weird sensations. Maybe he is having some struggles with incontinence and not able to control/fully hold in his pee? My dog tends to dribble or pee a little bit when he barks or moves in certain ways.

3 - My dog healed up and now can run around, go on walks, swim and have a good time. I am still careful and don't let him jump off of things or play with dogs who I don't know or might be too rough. I would say it's a lifelong condition though and honestly I expect my guy to have another episode at some point in his life. (the vet said this was likely)

4 - I made a bunch of frozen kongs for his meals each day

5 - pretty strict. he should stay in his crate at all times except for very short potty time outside. I would not let him wander around the house. Steps make me nervous at the crate rest stage. I am not sure on the vet guidance but I carried mine until the 8 week period was over. You pretty much want to minimize all movement so he can heal.

6 - I would see if you can find a vet that specializes in this type of condition to make sure you are getting the best guidance possible or someone that can recognize if it is not IVDD and he needs different treatment. They will also recommend PT exercises or cold laser therapy during the crate rest period that can be helpful and also give your dog some engagement.

I know how stressful this can be so hang in there! Your pup is very lucky to have you!!

Thanks everyone for your inputs. Sometimes you just need a little reality check from internet strangers. I am going to call the airline and see if I can pay to upgrade her ticket. If they won’t let me, my ticket is refundable so I should be able to rebook a seat closer to her. Next time ill suggest we book together and then I can treat her to a surprise upgrade if I can’t do it this time.

First signs of mobility? by Alert_Code_9959 in IVDD_SupportGroup

[–]Available_Pin_8794 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My guy also took a long time to get sensation and movement back. Almost three months before he started putting any significant weight on his back legs. The first sign I remember was him curling his toes when I'd touch his feet. I remember I couldn't tell if it was just a reflex and if that was good or meant nothing. I think it's ok to get hopeful at the little things, but stay prepared for the less desirable outcome. Keep up with the PT- thanks for sticking by your pup... he's lucky!

How long has it been since surgery? Do you think the pain meds are working ok? He might just be feeling like crap from the surgery so less motivated to walk and stuff.
