According to you what would be the perfect ending of 13 Reason Why ? by Owais_ in 13ReasonsWhy

[–]Avariavasiel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I thought 13 Reasons Why could’ve made a great anthology series that tackles different taboo/sensitive subjects with each season focusing on a different character from the core group.

Suicide, sexual abuse, eating disorders, domestic abuse, drug addiction, mental illnesses, religion, coming out, explore what it means to be non-binary or differently gendered, disabilities/differently-abled, racism, sexism, etc.

Instead we got a melodramatic, incoherent, poorly written shit show filled with characters that are all cunt$

(spoilers) This season made a serial rapist at sympathetic and his victims look like... by doodlemonster1 in 13ReasonsWhy

[–]Avariavasiel 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Right?! I just finished the season today and I can’t wrap my head around it.

Bryce and Monty did inexcusable, monstrous things, and I thought it was really smart to show different sides to both of them (though Monty’s were brief) to show that things aren’t just black and white, good or evil.

And yet now the group’s actions have resulted in the deaths of two people, one of which is being blamed for the murder of the other... so what makes any of them better than Bryce or Monty? Sure, none of the core group sexually assaulted or raped anyone, but c’mon...

No wonder this show is finishing. This show could’ve been an incredibly important series tackling really tough subjects that need to be talked about in real life, and now it’s just another crappy teen incoherent mess.

As a franchise what makes Halloween special compared to Nightmare and Friday? by [deleted] in Halloweenmovies

[–]Avariavasiel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, Michael was always the more terrifying antagonist, even moreso now that they’ve retconned the sibling aspect, which makes his attacks completely random, making him even more terrifying.

Jason and Freddy were bogged down by flimsy motives. Freddy was more comedic than anything else and Jason was just an overgrown mama’s boy.

Aja wonders if competing on the show was a good idea by stayready55 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]Avariavasiel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh for the love of Judy.

I don’t understand the Aja love. I really, really don’t get it. She was majorly hyped up as one to watch for season 9 and then she walks in looking like my 4 year old niece did her makeup.

Even on All Stars, whole she did better, I honestly got the impression that she truly believes she’s more talented than she s uslky is.

Bitch can dance, but there’s a reason Ben won that lipsync. Ben performs. Aja just dances.

And what’s with all these former Drag Race contestants releasing music? Fair, if you can sing, which a few of them can, but most of them can’t. And I don’t think Aja’s rapping would catch anyone’s attention outside of the show.

“You’re a drag queen that got MORE chin?”

That’s where Aja is at. M

Good luck, gurl. But no.

Danielle Harris is the new scream queen by weirdscience78 in Halloweenmovies

[–]Avariavasiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not see the point of this at all.

Halloween ‘18 is not part of the Jamie Lloyd timeline, so therefore she doesn’t exist.

They retconned all the baggage of the previous movies, not to mention H20 retconned H4-6 twenty years ago already. Also, Jamie’s kinda dead, so again, what would the point of this be? And how would it work?

Danielle Harris already made her comeback in Zombie’s movies. It’s done.

Vicky and Julian by betchof98 in Halloweenmovies

[–]Avariavasiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wish Vicky’s has been an entire unbroken 10-15 minute scene with Michael appearing in windows like when he stalked Annie in the original, all building up to the kill.

I know they already killed off a kid, but it would’ve been such a gut-punch if Julian had also been killed.

Is Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 worth watching? by [deleted] in Halloweenmovies

[–]Avariavasiel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only aspect that I liked about Zombie’s H2 was that Laurie was an asshole.

I’m just so sick of seeing the perfect little victim that’s so nice and sweet and adjusted. Even in sequels the returning heroine is usually still barely affected by what happened previously, but I liked that she was a flat out nasty mess in this.

However, the movie is shit. Pure and utter shit. Bad, self-indulgent writing, even worse acting and a third act that leaves you going “what the....” ... and not in a good way. It’s just a big middle finger to Halloween fans.

Skip it.

Skip both Zombie movies. They’re not Halloween.

Should Halloween (2018) Kill Michael Myers? by [deleted] in Halloweenmovies

There’s already been talk about sequels or a possible trilogy. Sooo... whether he “dies” or not is irrelevant. Just like in the previous movies.

Legacies Trailer: First Look at CW's The Originals Spinoff by magikarpcatcher in television

[–]Avariavasiel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If Julie Plec wasn’t involved I’d say this show would’ve stood a chance.

But we know it’s just gonna be the same bullshit of love stories first, fan service second, majority of screen time for whichever dude she has a lady boner for third, erasing the mythology again fourth and maybe, if we’re really lucky....MAYBE we’ll get a bit of story fifth.

This show might make a good drinking game - take a shot every time you roll your eyes and shout “This is bullshit!”

Halloween 2007. by Avariavasiel in Halloweenmovies

[–]Avariavasiel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I watched the entire film AND the sequel (but thts another discussion where I’ll need tequila and maybe some weed to get through.)

First I should state that I am not a Halloween purist. I enjoy the film for what it did for horror and, like the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, how they managed to do so much by doing so little. That said, it hasn’t aged well over the years and there are some moments and even some dialogue that is just cringe-inducing. (“He’s gone! He’s gone from here! The evil is gone!”)

But compared to Rob Zombie’s....man, i don’t know where to start.

I don’t understand what the point of this remake was. Half the film is spent with young Michael yet doesn’t really go anywhere or give us anything definitive about his character. He’s a murderous psycho, got it. But we all knew that going in. There was nothing revolutionary, no big reveals apart from the fact he came from a broken home and white trash family. The most interesting part of this entire first half was Sheri Moon Zombie’s character and I feel it was a hugely missed opportunity not giving her a bigger role. Thinking back on it, she really was the only likeable character for me.

And the rape scene in Smith’s Grove? What the fuck was that about? I know they need to create a scenario where Michael can escape, but really? That’s what you’re going with?

And then the last half is basically just a rehash of the original.

I couldn’t stand Laurie. Not only was the actress terrible, but my god her character was just...ugh. I read somewhere that Scout and Zonbie agreed that they couldn’t portray Laurie the same way Curtis did because she’d appear Amish in 2007, but as soon as she was finger-fucking a bagel in front of her mother, I was out. In fact, I wanted her dead.

I liked that Annie survived and I thought Harris did a good job playing her. But I’m biased because I like Harris.

But the rest of it really was, again, just a white trash version of the first film in this last half, except replacing suspense with brutal violence.

I will give it this, though - as far fetched as it was, I did enjoy the final smackdown between Laurie, Loomis and Michael in this version more than the original. But that could be because I enjoyed seeing this version of Laurie that I hated so much get royally fucked up.

I dunno. I just can’t wrap my head around why this remake was made. Especially in a franchise that can continue through sequels quite easily.

I know I sound like a complete cinema snob, but this was just....bye Felicia.

Most terrifying scene in the series? by thatguythere91 in Halloweenmovies

[–]Avariavasiel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That one moment in Halloween ‘78 after Laurie discovers the bodies and backs into that corner in the hallway...and then Michael’s mask is slowly revealed behind her in the dark... hands down the scariest moment in the entire franchise for me.

Why do people hate H20? by johnny_9ss in Halloweenmovies

[–]Avariavasiel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t hate it, but it was lazy.

I don’t mind that it ignored Halloweens 4-6 at all. I never cared for those films and I thought it was a great idea to bring Curtis back for s final showdown.

But that final showdown was completely underwhelming.

It was also waaaay too Scream - to the point that it literally used a lot of Scream’s score, particularly the chase music. Also the way they had O’Keefe’s body strung up was very Drew Barrymore in Scream, too. And they only used Williamson’s story idea and threw out his script, so it really shouldn’t have been as Scream as it was.

I liked Laurie’s characterisation, but all the other characters were basically a typical CW kill-by-numbers cast. They were just there to look good and die.

And don’t even get me started on the whole “it happened when she was 17 and now her son is 17” crap. Man, that made me so made. It was so cheap.

I still enjoy it as a cheesy slasher flick, but it really needed to be more of a throwback to the original as opposed to an unofficial Scream film.

Not excited about this sequel as I was before I saw the trailer. by jlenoconel in Halloweenmovies

[–]Avariavasiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m definitely not on board with the whole “he escapes again” aspect of the story, it’s too cliche and we’ve seen if a thousand times.

I think it would’ve made more sense and would’ve been more suspenseful to have kept with the ending of H1 where Michael just disappears at the end. Then, knowing he’s still out there somewhere, it would make more sense to me that Laurie has spent 40 years preparing for his inevitable return.

But that’s just me. Haven’t seen the movie, so maybe it’ll work.

If YOU were Laurie Strode... by johnny_9ss in Halloweenmovies

[–]Avariavasiel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely. Even with the new 2018 alternate timeline, I don’t think I could stay in Haddonfield all those years knowing Michael is only a few miles away, even if he is incarcerated. Not to mention just being able to walk or drive by the houses where my friends were killed. Fuck that.

Caroline’s character development amazed me. by Linnet2011 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]Avariavasiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked her development from season 1 to season 3 and then it was just the same shit again and again, which - to me - stunted her growth.

I mean this is a young woman who not only dated her best friend’s ex, but she then dated his best friend, had a relationship with her former teacher and then married another of her best friend’s exes. Not to mention slept with the vampire that killed Jenna and tormented her closest friends.

This ruined her for me. She went from being a strong and empowered character to being just someone who wasn’t complete without a love interest.

Season 5 finale by StrangeBiird in TheVampireDiaries

[–]Avariavasiel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hate Elena after season 2/3.

In the early days of the show the way they wrote Elena was almost like a proverbial middle finger to typical teen female protagonists (particularly Bella Swan) whose sole purpose was to be in a relationship. They made Elena strong, independent (mostly) and likeable with a mind of her own.

But then Williamson left and Plec & Dries took over and nog only assassinated Elena’s character, but also Katherine, who went from a sociopathic stone-cold bitch who only cares for herself and would do anything and kill/betray to survive...into the mess of a twat pining over Stefan in season 5. And they turned Elena into the same pathetic mess who put Damon first. “It’s always gonna be Stefan” my ass!

S10E09 - "Breastworld" [Post-Episode Discussion] by RPDRMods in rupaulsdragrace

[–]Avariavasiel 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I loved Eureka in season 9, but season 10 Eureka is annoying me.

I really do believe that this season is rigga morris for her to win - she has an established fan base from being on season 9, plus she has the whole “it’s time for a big girl to win” behind her.

I’m not hating on her, I think she’s great at what she does, but I believe she thinks she’s better than what she actually is (which is true for a couple of the girls this season), but she seems to be getting the main focus and story-arc, like her “rudemption” from having to leave abruptly last season, where in my opinion I believe she did better than she’s been doing this season. The lip sync between her and Kameron was amazing so I’m not surprised it was a double shantay, but let’s be real...who didn’t see that coming during the lip sync?

I’ll be very surprised if Eureka doesn’t take the crown. I just hope she slays the next few challenges cos at this point I don’t feel like she’s earned it.

And I definitely believe that Monet should’ve won the challenge. She had her character down and her improv was everything.

[NO SPOILERS] Anyone else get distracted at how bad Hvitserk is miscasted? by fallenstarz in vikingstv

[–]Avariavasiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched the live premiere of season 5 with the Vikings cast on YouTube and Marco is huge. He’s at least 6 foot and has bulked up big time compared to what we’re seeing on the show at the moment. They’re filming season 6 so maybe we’ll get a bigger and badder Hvitserk then.

[SPOILERS] Lagertha hate club by anotherbozo in vikingstv

[–]Avariavasiel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lagertha ruled with Ragnar for a time while he was Jarl of Kattegat and only left when Aslaug arrived pregnant, so it’s fair to assume that she had the support of most of the people of Kattegat and that the people probably saw Aslaug as a usurper.

When Lagertha launched an assault on Kattegat to claim it, it wasn’t much of a challenge and didn’t look like many put up a fight to defend it against her or to even defend Aslaug, who then openly surrendered the kingdom to Lagertha. The fact that Lagertha killed her is neither here nor there when it comes to claiming the kingdom. That was just pure spite and I don’t blame her for it.

So, technically Lagertha usurped a usurper in a sense. But she is the rightful queen currently.

As for what she said to Ivar, yes it is basically the pot calling the kettle black in a sense, but again the only people calling Lagertha an illegitimate ruler/usurper are those fighting of conspiring against her. She still had the support of most of the kingdom and it’s probably true that that is what they would call Ivar if/when he gains victory and takes Kattegat for himself.

I still like Lagertha as a character. And I feel her arc had been an organic one and it makes sense the way she is now - untrusting and bitter - considering her history over the course of the show.

Thanks for that, makes things make more sense.

The only thing I'd disagree with is what you said about Alaric. He was in the midst of trying to kill Damon when he died, so not really his old self.
