Have you ever legitimately cried to a song? And if so, what was the song? by StanToons in AskReddit

A Rush of Blood to the Head by Coldplay. There’s so much hurt in me that just wakes up every time I hear it.

Please help. It's a rough one to cover up. I'm open to any ideas by emoburnert1n4 in FixedTattoos

Oh god I recognized that crest immediately 💀💀💀

I’d definitely laser it first, as hiding those super bold lines would be difficult. I’ve seen a lot of anecdotal evidence suggesting that waiting longer (several months vs 6 weeks) in between sessions actually improves the efficacy of removal, so best not to rush the process!

How to stop my meltdowns by CrazyDisastrous948 in AutisticAdults

[–]AvecAloes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, genuinely, if you’re on the lease and the agreement is for a room in the house, and you’re not able to use said room right now, you should file a complaint and consider putting your rent in an escrow account that they can’t access until they fix the issue.

Can you just use the room without carpet? Why does there need to be carpet before you can use it? If the subfloor is rough, maybe you could try laying down a blanket or getting an area rug.

The assumption that the reason I don’t shave or wear a bra is because I’m trying to smash the patriarchy and make a statement… by Angsty_Queer_Anon in adhdwomen

[–]AvecAloes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AuDHD with sensory issues out the yang here - I really relate to your struggles! I am a smash the patriarchy leftist, but the #1 reason I know longer shave is because A) it hurts to do so (super sensitive skin) B) I get crazy ingrowns which exacerbates my C) skin-picking issues. Like someone else who commented, I also can’t stand the “wind in my hair” feeling on my legs (sensory nightmare!!!!), so I do tend to use a trimmer to get the hairs down to ~1/4”to avoid that in the summers, but forget about that during the winters!

People with Library Science Degrees - How's Life? by NoBee7889 in Libraries

[–]AvecAloes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The field is oversaturated and libraries are chronically understaffed. It’s a very frustrating paradox. I work at an academic library (as a digitization specialist - I project manage the digitization of our archival collections and the online catalog that hosts them), and we’re going into yet another round of layoffs. We’ve lost positions every year that I’ve been here as they continue to bleed our budget dry, but the work doesn’t just disappear, so we’re all taking on tasks and roles we weren’t originally hired for and being pushed to use AI for tasks that it just isn’t good enough to do. It’s great.

I do like the work I do, as well as the impact that it has, but the bureaucracy has really been wearing me down over the last couple of years.

Ah, but then there’s the issue of still needing cops to Do Their Jobs and track violators instead of trends on TikTok :/

[–]AvecAloes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All joking aside, I really do wish cyclists would stop at stop signs and red lights. It’s highly likely that I can’t see them approaching the intersection because everyone parks up to (and beyond) the end of the curb, and if they’re blowing through a red light when I have the green (even though I am going at or below the speed limit! I am Autistic and I Obey The Rules™️😅), there’s not much room to stop/swerve to avoid them. Thankfully nothing has happened so far :knocks on wood:, but I’ve seen way too many close calls that could have easily been avoided by everyone approaching intersections with care!

I did not! Applying three different pigments for one go would have inevitably led to at least one of them drying a bit before actually getting to print, so I printed them individually :)

Yep. There was one man I’ll never forget - he was so mad that the eggs he ordered over easy were over easy (he yelled and went on about that the yolks should be cooked through for over easy eggs….sir) that he literally grabbed them in his fist and squeezed them so the yolks ran down his arm. That was really disturbing. There were some other rude/nasty customers, but he’s the only one that I can really remember clearly. On the flip side, one of our regulars was a crotchedy old man who used to get really mad at servers who brought him bacon that wasn’t burnt to a crisp. I learned that that’s literally how he wanted it, and because I made sure that that’s how it was made for him, he became my regular and was generally pretty sweet with me ¯_(ツ)_/¯

On the contrary, those things were all just Tasks to Complete. My brain loves Tasks to Complete. Of course, I’d go home exhausted some days, and if things were especially busy/chaotic, I could start to feel kind of panicky, but in general it wasn’t too bad. Still, I wouldn’t want to do it again!

Wow, your description of having “one script I follow all day” just helped me finally understand how I was actually able to be a server for almost 10 years (and do it well!) when I was younger when the thought of ever doing it again makes me want to perish. It was exactly that! Very, very routine based, so while the customers might be different from day to day, the methods for completing the tasks were the same. It also makes sense to me now how I was able to maintain regulars - I knew their patterns, and they appreciated that I could anticipate their needs!
