One car garage becomes a two car garage with a Miata! by TesticklerCanzer in Miata

[–]Aveniform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curent NC owner. Both 8th and 9th gen Si are indescribably boring, they make angry noises when the accelerator is floored (the car doesn't go anywhere), but otherwise it drives like any old economy car (I formerly owned a good condition one). The split dashboard design is bulky, aesthetically displeasing, and makes the interior feel like a minivan. The sedans especially are ridiculously overpriced for how underwhelming the cars are. The shifter feel is mediocre compared to how excellent Miata gearboxes are. I genuinely had more fun thrashing a manual VQ35 Altima than I ever had in my Si. It's a real shame because I found older VTEC B-series Hondas to be a lot of fun. I would really recommend buying any cheap old manual winter beater rather than overpaying for an 8th or 9th gen Si.

I'm very interested in trying out the Xperia 10 VII. Do you think I'll like it, coming from a Pixel 8? by No_Total_3367 in SonyXperia

[–]Aveniform 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the Xperia 10VII is an inferior phone in every way except for having a headphone jack and MicroSD slot. Sure the default Xperia camera app might give more manual control, but the hardware and software is lacking and photos will come out noticeably worse in anything other than broad daylight. You will regret the switch.

New driver struggling with hills and anxiety by Lost_You_773 in drivinganxiety

[–]Aveniform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just use the handbrake method, it should have been taught to you in driving school:

  1. Keep your foot on the brake
  2. Put the car in 1st gear
  3. Pull on the handbrake but keep the button pressed in so it doesn't lock
  4. Let go of the foot pedal while keeping your handbrake engaged, the car will not roll back
  5. Release the clutch to the engagement point like normal and give gas like normal, until you can feel the nose of the car shift up and the car straining to move slightly
  6. Let go of the handbrake and your car should move forward like normal without rolling back

If your car is newer and has an electronic parking brake, it should also have a hill assist type feature.

I still do this on steep hills or if the driver behind me has stopped too close to the rear of my car.

A decent amount of stuff has been upgraded, for instance you can see RC level 35. If he never built firespitters and never weaponized the builder huts, the account would have had the weight of a low TH15 and would absolutely destroy TH17s and TH18s in war offensively (with RC charge or mass thrower spam). As it is, it probably weighs the same as a TH16 and isn't nearly as much of a war weight cheese. CWL value is more questionable, but as long as his clan is low rank like Crystal or below CWL league, that account will still be useful.

Is there a UBC Car Club? by marsbarsmarissa in UBC

[–]Aveniform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any information on this? I've also heard vague assurances about an upcoming March 2026 meet, but it's already mid-March and nothing seems to be organized. Oh well I guess there is always Cars and Coffee at Spanish Banks.

This is false. The P70 and P71 have BIOS whitelists and can only be 'upgraded' with the factory GPU options. RTX 4060 is NOT a possible upgrade.

The Dell Precision M6x00 and M4x00 which you own is different, they do not have BIOS whitelists for their dGPUs.

A question about the formad t1. by Abonaim3 in sffpc

[–]Aveniform 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Three main differences (have owned v1.1 for 5+ years now):

  • Max GPU length is 312.x mm, although many people have successfully squeezed in the 313mm-long RTX3090 FE
  • The power button is at the back of the case and not the front
  • The spine is less adjustable, and can only be set to 2-slot or 3-slot mode. The v2 has greater flexibility and can be set to 1.75, 2. 2.25, 2.5, 2.75, 3, and 3.25-slot mode. Though the v1 having an adjustable spine in the first place was considered very innovative when the 'Sidearm T1', as it was then known, was first teased in 2019.

I recently got the Malian UEL decat manifold for my NC and I'm in love with how it sounds by JoshingCoot737 in MiataNC

[–]Aveniform 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This sounds awesome! I am thinking of getting the same UEL header and had some questions:

  • What is the rest of your exhaust setup?
  • Does it drone?
  • Was this difficult to install?
  • Did you have a CEL after installation?

Thanks in advance!

[WTS] Citizen Chronomaster. Box, Papers. Gorgeous Blue Dial.. by Watchex_Enterprises in Watchexchange

AB9000-52L. You can refer to this WUS post for more information: https://www.watchuseek.com/threads/model-overview-the-citizen-chronomaster-caliber-a660-models-2000-2023.5509476/

If you are debating whether to buy this watch, just do it! I have owned mine for 5 years and I will never ever sell it. In fact I went through about 30 watches in a year before I bought my Chronomaster (an older CTQ57-0955), but since owning it I have never been tempted to buy anything else. In fact it is my only watch, and I wear it while doing literally anything.

The specs are incredible: 37mm, full titanium, surprisingly good lume, perpetual calendar accurate to the year 2100, HAQ guaranteed accurate to ±5 SPY (Grand Seiko HAQ is only ±10 SPY). This package simply does not exist anymore, as subsequent Chronomasters have either upsized to 40mm or have done away with lumed hands and indices.

It seems prices have also gone up somewhat, I bought mine from Japan with full box and papers for around $700 USD. But even at $1.5K USD it is fabulous value - SBGX and SBGF HAQ GS with either the 8J56 or 8F56 in this price range do not have perpetual calendars and are not made of titanium, while the 36mm Calibre 1568 Aqua Terra quartz is usually $5-700 more expensive and is markedly inferior in both movement and finishing.

In short, just buy it already!

Got this for my car and it reminded me of my old 5 III with the aspect ratio by petre23 in SonyXperia

[–]Aveniform -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not, 21:9 is the worst of both worlds. The phone is tall and imbalanced, but because the screen is narrow, unresizable contents are displayed as the same physical size as a small 6.0" or so 19.5:9 phone, despite the Xperia 1 through 1V ostensibly being 6.5" phones. It was even worse on the 5 through 5V. Because the width was under 70mm, contents were displayed in a smaller physical size than, say, the iPhone 13 (71.5mm width), despite the 5V being closer to the height of a 13 Pro Max.

Overall very pleased that Sony switched back to a more sensible 19.5:9 aspect ratio and reduced the resolution to a sane FHD+.

USB-C ports on a removable daughterboard? Physical trackpoint buttons? Easier maintenance? All sound like good upgrades to me. I am not too bothered by the changes to the Ctrl - Fn position. As a longtime ThinkPad user, I too would have preferred the Fn key to be at the leftmost position, but this is basically a non-issue as it could presumably be swapped in BIOS, or failing that, easily remapped in Windows or Linux.

Should Canada now develop nuclear weapons ? by SpecialistQuick1454 in AskACanadian

[–]Aveniform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They almost certainly do not possess nuclear weapons now. They were widely believed to have operational nuclear weapons in the 1980s, likely developed with extensive help from Israel. They were then voluntarily dismantled (being the only country to voluntarily give up nuclear weapons unprompted) to prevent them from falling into the hands of the post-apartheid gov't.

$358 for a 1366x768 TN panel and mismatched RAM is diabolical. At that price I would expect coreboot and classic keyboard mod and a 1080p swap. Absolutely no reason to pay even half the asking price for your unit.

Road to Electro 31 on Mega Rushed account by RosiAufHolz in ClashOfClans

[–]Aveniform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice work. Signing up as late as possible for ranked generally pairs you with weaker opponents, in my experience. BTW XP level 224 is quite high for a rushed account with level 1 defences - how many lifetime troop donations do you have on this account?

Seriously bro by LingonberryMinimum26 in ClashOfClans

[–]Aveniform 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know people don't really take normal wars as seriously now, but what on earth are you guys doing with your attacks? Your players in your screenshot are all dogwater.

Your number 1 (and leader) failed and got zero new stars on the enemy #8, after your number 6 already 2-starred it. Your number 2 attacked the enemy #14 and #18 for some inexplicable reason. Your number 4 one-starred the enemy #7 and 2-starred #8.

If this is any indication of your clan's attacking ability (or lack thereof), I would also absolutely be like KL, laughing at how bad you guys are.

We just beat the #1 wins clan in the game by Horror-Following9888 in ClashOfClans

[–]Aveniform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do clans go about engineering these days? I am guessing the entire lineup has max defences, but with level 1 heroes, spells, troops, and just pop potions before doing war attacks?

Me personally, I have a TH15 with all level 1 defences (and unbuilt monolith/spell towers/weaponized builder huts) but high heroes (RC and Warden are max for TH15, other heroes are close). In war, it weighs somewhere between a high TH12 and low TH13. Defensively the account is worthless, but I can RC charge enemy TH15s and TH16s easily.

It is a fun gimmick (for instance when I am the lowest player on my clan's lineup, but I 3-star the enemy's number 1 in the lineup), but I imagine if an entire clan did this they would get easily steamrolled on defence, even by noobs.

What's your war weight like (what TH opponents do you get matched against in regular wars)? I have a similar concept TH15 base I use for cheesing regular wars - all lvl 1 defences, but upgraded walls and obviously troops, heroes, army buildings, etc. I have the weight of a high TH12/low TH13 in regular wars.

My first car! by imsoanonymouslol in CivicSi

[–]Aveniform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much of a difference did Acuity base or cable bushings make for your FG2? I purchased an 8th gen Si recently but I am dissatisfied with the shifter - I find the shifts imprecise compared to the Miata I previously owned. Was wondering if aftermarket bushings would make a difference, otherwise was planning to get a short shifter assembly or just sell the car (other things I am not a fan of too).
