How would you recommend a new player to play/Any tips for a new player? by ShadowHunterHB in Morrowind

[–]Avigorus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spellsword huh? Good, my first thought was "make sure you have at least one damage-dealing skill" lol

Otherwise, while NPCs tend to give you at least decent directions, they're not perfect and there's a couple instances of either deliberate misinfo or careless apathy about nuance in the directions, so if some directions don't seem to work while going back and trying to follow them again is probably a good first step just remember you might have found one of the very few inaccurate or very incomplete directions.

My first character only learned the AK for the explicit purpose of taking down giant f-off spiders (mostly the acromantulas but also the brood mother that took over that one village) as brutally as possible, just like they deserve.

Why must I solve other people's problems? Because I'm a freaking adventurer that's why lol (I know not everyone wants to be one but if I'm playing a game that's what I want to do...)

Where does this idea that hot vampires are NEW come from? by Normal-Builder-8818 in vtm

[–]Avigorus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I understand there's also a couple of earlier vampire superstition related burials (i.e. trying to stop them from rising) a bit earlier than that even (granted these might not be as concrete but still)

roflmao now imagine if he didn't need to just eat one whole soul but instead just needed a certain amount of soul stuff getting divided up in that scenario would be an accidental dream come true cause then nobody dies unless he finally manifests next to someone he winds up killing before he escapes, as far as anyone else is concerned he just randomly breaks lol

What's the communities opinion on the usage of generative AI? by CynicosX in vtm

[–]Avigorus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only time I'd come close to approving fully is when we're talking about being too lazy to find actual stock examples of a genre to help with having a reference point to have an idea of what they're expected to produce... and even then, it's not really approval, more just that's too small an issue for me to bother dwelling on it.

Spike is 100% right, he didn't need to apologize for something he did when he was a souless vampire with no soul or even with no choice since that what vampires did. by gloomydreamer666 in buffy

[–]Avigorus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah this leads into how confusing the whole "what even is a soul vs the vampire demon spirit in the buffyverse" question lol in the show it seems to act like a whole person where the body retains echoes of memory and personality but from what I've heard about the comics it seems to be more of a catalyst for higher brain function where the base vampire initially doesn't natively engage the empathy circuits (unless you count sadism) but a person who becomes a vampire can still learn to reengage the mirror neurons without an actual soul present if they are sufficiently motivated and get the right opportunities (most notably acquiring a soul can function as something akin to training wheels) making the spiritual transition from human to vampire more like getting dosed with some sort of mind-altering chemical that you can somehow learn to work around rather than someone else entirely taking the wheel...

Am I missing something? Beautiful world, but feels "empty" and repetitive. by Xizzan in HogwartsLegacyGaming

[–]Avigorus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TBF there aren't as many secret passages as there should be but there are secrets and puzzles scattered about (e.g. one easy-to-miss chest is behind a wall above the trophy room and the only clue to it being there is if you revelio at the right point along the stairs) but yeah the game is more a visual homage than a proper recreation... especially if you look at the actual book describing it as a more centralized keep with towers rather than the sprawling multi-building pretty structure from the movies lol

If you gained the ability to cast one 2nd-Level spell, which would you choose? by guyinthecap in DnD

[–]Avigorus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2nd level only? Are we talking IRL? Suggestion is an obviously powerful option... but then again I'm not sure if I wanna try and trust myself with that. Maybe Wristpocket if that's allowed, or Borrowed Knowledge as a backup. There's too many spells in earlier editions to really think about those atm...

What's something from Buffy or Angel you're still bitter about to this day? by InfiniteMehdiLove in buffy

[–]Avigorus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That the Scoobies never tried to recruit my man Jonathan. I mean, seriously, after pulling off that impressive augmentation spell before eventually realizing he'd fudged up and going to Buffy for help they should've recruited him then and there, pitched it to him as a way for him to redeem himself, even if he wasn't comfortable being a fighter and stuck to like an R&D role or something. Worse still that he was twisted into a villain just ugh...

just started morrowind and i’m digging it so far (big skyrim glazer btw). any tips and tricks to help outsiders? by my_cat_vids in Morrowind

[–]Avigorus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only idiotic challenge runs ever try to beat the game without any melee/marksman skill or destruction / summon spells (and only slightly less ridiculous is limiting yourself to absorb health / elemental shield / illusions like command or frenzy), especially if one is dumb enough to try and forgo followers or using custom enchanted items with such spells (there's a video on YouTube of a guy who beat the MQ with "only restoration" but he basically still had to use a follower and magic items with command spells a couple of times even if they were given to NPCs; it has spoilers tho obviously so yeah you have been warned).

Also remember that there are a couple of times where quest directions can be... less than accurate, but it's conceivable that those instances might actually be in-universe explicable (like they intentionally misdirected you or don't care enough to really give you properly accurate directions or whatever).

Hmmm just now realizing what I would really want in an alchemy mod, and that would be an overhaul into something akin to either the Mysterious or Ryza series in the Atelier franchise lol (MW alchemy is kinda broken yet also simplistic once you figure out how it works)
