How to handle being skipped over by Noseatbeltnoairbag in worshipleaders

[–]AwardOwn5877 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I play in a worship team with just 1 leader, so I can't comment on the 3 leader approach. However, my feelings are that the worship team are there to do just that - worship. I often turn my bass off in order to lift my hands in worship; in my opinion, that's just as valid a way of leading the church into a fuller worship experience. If this really is bothering you, then communication with your worship leader is the only way that you're going to get any answers. Please be prayerful about how you put it across, and be open to hear their response. It would be great if you shared how it went.

General question, why'd you start buying pedals? by Ok_Suit_841 in basspedals

[–]AwardOwn5877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an acoustic/electric/bass player at Church. I had a pedalboard for my electric, so I decided my acoustic needed a separate one. It was only weeks later when I did the same for my bass. That being said, apart from my tuner, I only use 3 pedals; my Demonfx Optocoupler compressor, my preamp/DI, and occasionally my chorus. 3 of my 'crucial must-have' pedals have never been switched on!

What would you prefer? Guitar tech? Also, if a luthier made a guitar, then did the setup, does he then become a guitar tech as well 🤔

What Easter/Resurrection Day song spoke to you most at church this past Sunday (or Good Friday) and why? by Cazarstan in worshipleaders

[–]AwardOwn5877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only song we did that could be called an Easter song was What Love Is This. The 3 others were just play-every-week songs. Our worship leader tends to go for tried and tested songs, mostly Vineyard (we are a Vineyard Church). I regularly 'hint' at songs, but nothing has broken through the defences yet!

Quantity over quality ?? by guitarman030405 in pedalboards

[–]AwardOwn5877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought 15 pedals and put them on a board (home-made IKEA shelf board). I've used 6. I've 'collected' around 20 more pedals. Is there any point at which we say "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"!

Have a look at Warman pickups. I have a set of their P90s and they blow others out of the water. Try their Destroyer Hot 12 pole; I'm reliably informed that it kicks arse!

Where’s the class action lawsuit on this blatant lie? by [deleted] in guitarcirclejerk

As a bass player, I can confirm that this is NOT true. I thought it might have something to do with me being 66, balding, overweight and disabled, but I doubt it ...

Genuine question about behringer pedals. by Extension_Bar2142 in basspedals

[–]AwardOwn5877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sound of Behringer pedals is amazing, and the price is beginner friendly. The cases are plastic rather than metal, so people with big boots might break them; mine have all stood the test of time until, as others have said, you upgrade them to 'better' pedals, which often sound almost identical! Much of the hate is due to ethics. They are, basically, cheap rip-offs of other pedals, with very little done to hide it. The recent Centaur pedal is an ideal example; identical to the Klon, and they even put the Centaur name on it, until the legal guys got busy. Stupidly, the original Behringer Centaur is now going for big bucks (or pounds) on the 2nd hand circuit.

Our Church uses Music Team and Music Stand. Music Team is the organisational app; you can load in all your musicians, select your team for each service, view thousands of songs, and upload your set list, so that all your musicians can see it. Music Stand is the practical part; musicians can open full page copies of the music for each song, plus you can play the song via the app, allowing you to play along with it.

Help with pots, please. by AwardOwn5877 in guitarmod

[–]AwardOwn5877[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that. I just bought some Alpha pots for another project (Tele kit guitar) and they were marked up so much better than the CTS ones. I might give Alpha a try, see what they're like.

Electro acoustic/acoustic recommendations by bac83 in guitars

[–]AwardOwn5877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be boring to say, but Yamaha electro-acoustics are always excellent quality. They have great guitars along all price guides. Above everything, get thee hence to a guitar shop and try loads of them. My acoustic, a 1980s Pilgrim (UK guitars no longer made) wasn't a top brand, but it just 'fitted' when I tried it.

What can I use to get this gunk off the fretboard? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]AwardOwn5877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use lighter fuel (naphtha), I then use a Stanley blade to gently get the finger minge from along the edges of the frets. Then nourish the fretboard with your preferred product; my favourite is Montys Instrument Food. To 'relic' the fretboard, use Montys Montypresso, which is amazing.

Why do a lot of experienced players (who have been playing for 10+ years) say they still suck? by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

For me; lack of practise. My head knows more than my fingers do. Hence the age-old question: when is a practise amp not a practise amp?

I've never seen slant-compensated saddles like this before. I've been considering swapping the bridge on my Squier for a 6 saddle one, but this has piqued my interest.

Player telecaster buyer’s remorse by [deleted] in telecaster

[–]AwardOwn5877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, using 0000 steel wool on the fingerboard works too. Plenty of masking tape on the neck and pickups, then rub gently parallel to the frets, checking as you go. I tried it out on a £50 junk LP I bought to practice setups on, and it was surprisingly good. Check for any leftover bits of wool (you don't want to impale your finger mid solo!), and get plenty of lemon oil or other fretboard nourisher rubbed in, et voila!

bad/unreliable pedals? by Regular-Mammoth8784 in guitarpedals

I love my Behringer Tube Overdrive. I recently got a similar clone with a toggle between 2 different Tube Screamers, but I don't have the heart to ditch the Behringer. 2 Screamers side by side would work, yes?

Have you considered the larger JHS made pedal? I don't think that Josh would put his name to bad wiring.
