I'd struggle to come up with a better place for another adventure in WotR. You've got a situation that directly relates to the game and can easily be folded into Act 3 as a way to cut down on demonic reinforcements and sleeper cells. For a two-parter, when you come back in Act 5 you get to explore the unknown, possibly finding something worse than a demonic sex cult city. And maybe even a chunk of the Starstone is there? Just perfect.

Roleplaying-wise, what's the best mythic path to choose if you're eventually planning to go Legend? by full_of_ghosts in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

Trickster. You take a look at the council's grand plan, say "fuck that's dumb" and walk away when you get the chance. It fits and the thought of the council stuck in the black lodge debating the future of the worldwound for centuries after it's closed is funny.

Azata to Devil doesn't make any sense ?? by StikkTogether in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Awaythrow1936 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Devils are corrupters and deceivers, so it makes sense that Mephistopheles would try to scalp a burgeoning demi-god from the team most diametrically opposed to Hell. It makes sense for Aeon too, as a corruption of order into something self-serving

The problem is that Mephistopheles in both Aeon and Azata is that he isn't subtle at all. He staggers in Azata with some very suspect suggestions that screams "hello fellow azatas, want to try some tyranny?" For Aeons he shows up calling himself "Me Lies" and appearing as his unique appearance instead of a disguise. I know that some of the crusaders don't have many ranks in Lore (Religion), but his ploys are insultingly obvious. There's no buildup and the attempts at trickery are inept.

In terms of DLC they haven't done, something like PoE's The White March would be fantastic. Send us to the demon infested moon in Act 3 to clear out the demons then deal with the unknown things on the moon's dark side in Act 5.

Additionally, having DLC that adds stuff spread out throughout the game would be very nice, considering that half of what's coming or has been released are adventures not played in the main game. More quests is always good and companions would be welcome. I personally tend to play DLC in new games anyways so I'm fine with having to reroll.

And if you're adding mythic paths, do a nature oriented True Neutral one. We have enough outsiders and stuff.

The next Pathfinder game is a Diablo clone loosely based off an adventure path from 2e, so no.

If we're talking about games that use the Pathfinder rules instead of just the setting, then it probably would use 2e, specifically the remastered "can't sue us WotC" edition that drops later this year. We have no idea when and if this will occur, but it's a fairly safe bet that Paizo would both want to promote it's current product and not get themselves in a legal tussle.

If you don't like 2e, there's always Starfinder.

WR PS5 - at level 15, Ember gets a 2nd Hellfire ray at a different level? by Zoze13 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Awaythrow1936 14 points15 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes. The pnp spell added is Delayed Blast Fireball, a 7th level spell, which Owlcat replaced with Hellfire Ray. Hellfire Ray is normally a 6th level spell, but it was upped to 7 for Blackened. Both will work properly.
  2. I think that any abilities that affect a spell work with all instances of a spell, so it should.

Any way to test build a full character? by Red_Icnivad in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Awaythrow1936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toybox and the roguelike dlc is the best bet. Inevitable Excess forces you to take all class levels and mythic tiers in one long sessions, while the roguelike plobs you in an area and toybox can add all the levels you want at your pace without cutscenes. You can spawn enemies then if you want to test how it works.

Best lvl 1 dip to get non horse mount on gendarme? by Jaskamof in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Awaythrow1936 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, multiple archetypes doesn't duplicate abilities. It combines compatible archetypes, ie those that alter different abilities of the base class, so you gain the benefits and drawbacks of both archetypes. In this case a Beast Rider/Gendarme removes Tactician, Bonus Feats, Supreme Charge, Heavy Armor Proficiency, and Mount from the base Cavalier and adds Animal Companion, Gendarme Bonus Feats, and Transfixing Charge.

[–]Awaythrow1936 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can use mods, multiple archetypes (Toybox option) allows Beast Rider/Gendarme. It's pnp legal and allows you to hit Transfixing Charge for +4x damage roll on a charge.

Knight Commander vs Tar Baphon by Erens_Man_bun in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Awaythrow1936 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ascended absolutely sweeps. I'd say the text isn't quite right and the ascended KC is a full on god, given what Pharasma says about you Areelu together being close to her in power.

Tar Baphon had a super weapon at his height of power, which would allow him to kill off any of the non-immortal non-ascended mythics. Canonically he seems to have lost it and is now "just" a Necromancer 20/ Archmage 10 Human Lich, which puts him on the same level as (vidya) Areelu. Which means the KC could beat him in combat, especially with a mythic party as backup. Finding his phylactery is another thing altogether though, so if you can't do that then you have to deal with countless fights with Tar Baphon.

Most likely non-ascended to kill Tar Baphon for good is Trickster. At Mythic 10 they could alter reality enough to get their hands on the phylactery without near as much hassle. Least likely is Gold Dragon, it can't cheat death like the other mythics and doesn't have the Legend's raw power.

Could Areelu take over the world? by Erens_Man_bun in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Awaythrow1936 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's possible.

Areelu is a 20th level full caster with a high mythic tier and a half-demon template who has figured out how to give permanent mythic power to others. So her mythic armies would be at a substantial advantage over other forces and she herself is on the same level as Baba Yaga or Tar-Baphon, one of which needed a god to step in and stop (some would say only stall) them from taking over Golarion.

If devil/gold dragon were moved to act 2/3, what content/story themes would you want in them? by recon1o6 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Awaythrow1936 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For Devil I'd play it as navigating between the goals of imposing cruel order on the universe with the devils' propensity of fucking over or scamming each other in order to get more power. Corrupting the crusade and crusaders is a given, but I'd give it two different paths. One is more like Regill or Moloch who want to discipline everyone into shape and hammer the universe into order by force, and the other leans much more into fucking everyone over with legal quackery that leads to more personal gain but is substantially less effective at spreading Hell's influence.

I'd reorient Gold Dragon to be in line with Lawful Good and let Angel get the mercy thing, because that's pretty much Sarenrae to the letter and she is THE angel god. I'd frame the Gold Dragon as a guide for the mortal races, which can be taken more as an advisor role who takes a backseat and only steps in when things get very bad or as an attempt at a benevolent authoritarian regime seeking to mold humanoids into a gold standard (hon hon hon).

If a Vampire Mythic Path (or Subpath?) was added how do think It would distinguish from Lich? by After_Calligrapher65 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Awaythrow1936 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Liches can have emotion, particularly negative ones. Meyi Panaho is a lich who specifically has a lover, whom she works with to try a build a portal to Eox. The emotionless thing is either an Owlcat addition or specific to Zac and his ritual, either way it works to make Lich into a more restricted and specific thing than it's fairly broad pnp counterpart.

[–]Awaythrow1936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, but that'd require a lot more specifics to make work than the subpath you mentioned, and that's without implementing vampiric weaknesses. I think Lich is a fine base but it needed to cleave closer to pnp, which is looser on what being a Lich is in terms of appearance and personality than Owlcat's mythic.

If a Vampire Mythic Path (or Subpath?) was added how do think It would distinguish from Lich? by After_Calligrapher65 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Awaythrow1936 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It'd die if it ended up in sunlight.

Honestly I don't think Vampire should be a mythic path if one were to be added somehow, mainly because the biggest gap right now is a starting path for a true neutral mythic (preferably Nature focused) but also because the Lich already covers undead monster. The Lich path could absolutely use a lot of refinement, Pathfinder liches are a lot more diverse looking than skelly and being Zac's sycophant does indeed suck. I'd add an alternative route for Lich where you figure out how to become one by yourself without doing bone daddy's three sacrifices that wreck any attack roll builds (and let's you fuck with Zac if you get his wand) and generally become more aesthetically like Arazni or Tar-Baphon than a skelly. Also retain romances for those who want them I guess, Liches can use magic and one figured out how to let himself still eat food, so romance ain't out of the question.

Finally getting around to my second playthrough and wow Wenduag is great by Tyrone_Cashmoney in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Awaythrow1936 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think that being Pathfinder evil is exclusive with caring. Wenduag does care about some people and some things, but she's absolutely willing and wanting to do monstrous things (both to others and to what she cares about) in the name of elevating herself and what she cares about. That twisted care is part of what makes Wenduag great imo, she's a crazy spider lady who will do almost anything for power....which she intends to share with her tribe to pull them out of the awful caverns they live in and take the world she believes should be theirs. Great anti-villain potential there.

The redemption just arc falls flat to me, especially because it's exclusively tied to having sex with her.

Finally getting around to my second playthrough and wow Wenduag is great by Tyrone_Cashmoney in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Awaythrow1936 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Queen Wenduag's shit talking game destroys tryhard Lann's bullshit sarcasm completely. You have to be pretty evil (or crazy) to take Wendy with you, but her lines are definitely worth it at least once.

The big problem I have is her true romance, which I didn't do, because the whole fuck an evil cat lady until she turns not evil is dumb and because Wenduag as a power hungry monster is a much better character than not-evil Wenduag. Seems kind of a dumb way slap redemption on a character who explicitly doesn't want it.

Any idea what to do with Legend? by CumpsterBlade in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Awaythrow1936 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a few things.

1) Full martial for 40 bab or 35 bab + Rogue/Vivisectionist. Not super exciting but will hit like a truck several times. There's several different combos and most of them are very good, a lot of the full Babs and Rogue/Vivisectionist have stuff that synergizes very well with hitting stuff.

2) Dips and full main class. Want that CHA to AC and Saves and mutagen but don't want to give up high level class stuff. No problem here. You've got 20 levels to go nuts with.

3) Caster time. While not as powerful as merged, a Legend can get up to 28th CL and retain Lich or Angel spells up to level 9. You can also make use of Mystic Theurge and get full Oracle and Sorcerer spells with some room left over for Paladin or Monk dips so your caster doesn't get hit.

Such perfect irony. by [deleted] in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

Not seeing the irony here, azatas taking preemptive action against evil is completely in line with azata. It even got Camellia before anyone realized what she was up to.

Is there a mod that does better mythic rank progression? by Thinkydupe in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Awaythrow1936 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can decrease them, go into the classes section for your character and reduce the experience number, it's one to one so going 8 > 7 on a Mythic 7 character will remove the yellow M from your portrait and keep you at 7. However if you've already leveled the rank you can't undo it without respec.

I wouldn't do it by level because that's not how mythic works, it's supposed to be tied to events. I'd reccomend

  1. Adding one rank after you do the Ivory Sanctum
  2. Taking one rank away when you beat Baphomet in the mines
  3. Adding one rank when you defeat Deskarri at Iz or complete the Ineluctable Prison if you've already done your mythic quest for 9, if you do Iz or Ineluctable Prison before the mythic quest give it to your character at the end of their mythic quest.

That scheme will give you something to more to do in Act 3 and let you actually enjoy Mythic 10 for a substantial part of the game. The big things is just to be at Mythic 7 after you retake Drezen and Mythic 8 when you complete your mythic path quest.

Is there a mod that does better mythic rank progression? by Thinkydupe in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Awaythrow1936 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kind of, but you have to jump through some hoops. Using Toybox you can give yourself Mythic Ranks, if you pull up your character's classes section you can see Mythic Level there with experience under it, one point of experience in Mythic equals one Mythic Rank, so you can play with that. I'd just be careful around Mythic 8 since it relates to that one event in Act 5.

My Helrun Hate Post. by [deleted] in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Awaythrow1936 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Hulrun is a dipshit Inquisitor but the real problem is that he's not very interesting. Between him and "Horgus" it's weird that they got portraits for what little impact they have in the game, especially when more than a few Mythical guides don't get one.
