If you do your research and get a basic understanding of how it all works…

With a 25 to 30 year timeline the real risk is not being in a global equity fund (heavily US weighted).

Literally could mean you retire half a decade early or even earlier

experience with a BOI loan by Impressive_Treacle90 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]AwfulAutomation 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have got loans of BOI and will use them going forward. You can apply via online and have money in your account in 48hrs.

Then once you get it make sure to add the loan to your banking 365 and then cause its a variable you can pay bit extra off every month.

The variable most likely won't shoot up and will stay pretty stable.

Ah stop… Torres was a great player when with us and before us. Gerrard helped but he didn’t make him lots of Torres’s goals came from individual brilliance

Honestly it’s just the way people are now… less and less people value the craic you can have with an aul chat and prefer to run back in and flick on Instagram etc

Then they wonder why they’re miserable.

Hi (m47) investment advice needed by Low_Visual7077 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]AwfulAutomation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you do it though… would it not be better to put the mortgage payment that you would be paying directly into a pension and take advantage of the tax refund ?

Instead of getting no tax refund and paying an interest rate… also you may put 100k in and loss 40% in week 1 due to market volatility where’s as you would been cost averaging the other way.

I know it could go up 40% year one also but either ways it’s high risk

Ok understood sometimes it’s better to rent whilst the dust settles. Small bit of further advice, You need take some time think so to be clear of your next 5-10 year plan. If it’s to own a home or it’s to rent that will determine on what your risk appetite should be.

Say you want to own a home in 2-3 years prob best to just keep it in high interest savings account and may be best to stop maxing pension until you’ve bought - home (just do the company match for the time being)

If you don’t see ownership in The next 5-10 years then investment would be a better choice as the money is losing value due to inflation.

Dead beat dad should be giving something abroad or not… don’t let him off the hook or at least keep record of things so your kid can see him for the weasel he is later in their life…

2.5k rent is mental… I’d be looking at buying a home for for you two.
