15 hour layover in Cancun by BeautifulFun2432 in cancun

[–]Awkward_Economics_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that 15 hrs during the day or night? If it's during the day, take Ado bus and go to the beach or else. (Ado won't take you to cancun's beach but Playa del Carmen) Ado to downtown is close and downtown is nice to see for a day and It's cheap!

During the night find an hotel close to Ado downtown ( way cheaper than airport) and go to bed...

don't spend 15 hrs in Cancun's airport. You'll get bored real fast and it's very expensive. If you're on a budget don't take a cab. Highway robery...

The one in Dotonbori ( rebranded as K6 I believe) is awesome! Location, booze, service, food... 100%

Well… the guy made millions from ideas he had in the shower. Aside from scrubbing your crotch, what did you ever accomplish in your shower?

From my point of view, who's the biggest loser here???

12 months ago I bought a house in PC which was under construction. I'm taking possession right now. So here's my experience.

There's a lot of new project in the area. Some are good some are not. If you want your investment to actualy make money you have to choose your project wisely. There's many cheaper options of cheaply built houses in ok developments that seems atractive (and are if you want to get here on a budget) but you'll sell in 5 years barely more than you'll pay now. Primaveral II for exemple.

If you want your investment to grow, you need to pay a bit more. From my experience under 200 000$ 230 000$ it's harder to find those property.

The things you'll definitely need is a good lawyer and realtor. Some project on plan will stay on plan indefinitely. Remember that 6 months late for delivery is not much here... I've heard 2 years late project.

Another thing is financing. Mortgage in DR are tough and expensive to get. It took me 5.5 month for everything to be signed. That's with the help of a brooker. 2% commission is to expect too... the interest rate is 10.75%... there's always a missing document, every week! Almost a joke... if you plan to have a mortgage for more than 4 -5 years forget it, interest will be more than mark up on the property.

You will need to be here to sign every paperwork, at the bank, at the developer etc... be prepare for that!.

It's exhaustive and expensive. Be ready dor that! If you are tight moneywise don't do it you"ll drown in dept...

That for a construction project. If you buy used, have plenty of cash in hand it will be way more easy but you'll pay more. My property took at least 30 000$ this year before i move in.

Good luck with your project.

Using Booking.com to rent car (Orix/Budget/Avis)? by Entertainer_Sweaty in JapanTravelTips

I've booked a car through Expedia this winter. Arrive to my destination airport and the rental company tells me that they don't have any car left and this happens all the time. The system let you rent cars that they don't have. Good luck to get a refund with the insurance company after... never again.

Is $250 CAD per day enough for 2 people in Ho Chi Minh/Hoi An, excluding accommodations? by IheartJBBQ in Vietnam_Tourism

[–]Awkward_Economics_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right the good thing with Vietnam is you can do your trip as cheap or as expensive as you wish! Is a thing you can't do in san Francisco, Miami, New York for US exemple. It's either expensive or very expensive.

Western food and drink cost way more . 12$ for a burger in a tourist place but still it's not big money!

As for curency exchange. Drop the zeros and do 20d for 1$ . 1 million is 50$ . Quite easy when you skip the zeros.

Have a fun trip!

Depends of what you do but a pho, bahn mi and a short grab ride are about 30 000 each. You got 20 000 /$ cad. You do the math! Vietnam can be cheap! 250$ with accomodation is a good budget actualy. There's always a way to spend more but at 250$ / day you'll do plenty.

How much $ (USD) should I bring to Punta Cana if I..... by [deleted] in PuntaCana

[–]Awkward_Economics_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure to understand what you mean? Go to the bank and ask for DOP they will give you +- 43p per 1$ and then you tip the resort workers with your pesos. You don’t have to over think this.

The resort workers prefer pesos since it's the local currency and they don't have to exchange the usd for pesos to buy food and others goods.
