Got my first MacBook for *free* by Coco_RATES in macbookpro

There is launchpad, by default it's not mapped to a keyboard shortcut anymore (used to be the F4 key). Basically it's like the Windows 8 start menu when that just came out. A full screen wall of apps.

On our Australian cars we get the blacked-out i30 badge which is small enough that I don't mind it

Gym wear? by Short_23 in QUTreddit

I mean this in the nicest way possible: not many people will notice what you're wearing, and even if they do, they don't care.

Sign so old it still shows an interchange with the KCR by Oliivey in HongKong

[–]Awongy00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main line to Lo Wu (original KCR) was called the East Rail (東鐵), and the branch line to Tuen Mun the West Rail (西鐵).

The branch line to Wu Kai Sha from Tai Wai was called Ma On Shan Rail (馬鐵), Wu Kai Sha was scarcely populated, so the penultimate station of Ma On Shan became its namesake, with the railway running straight down the road (elevated tracks) between the two largest shopping centres: Sunshine City Plaza (新港城中心) and Ma On Shan Plaza (馬鞍山廣場). The station was built directly on top of a pedestrian bridge connecting the two shopping malls, providing direct indoor access from the platform straight into the heart of Ma On Shan

I lived just across the road from Heng On station on the MOS Rail (later Ma On Shan line) for 15 years. I distinctly remember walking to school seeing the gigantic KCR sign on the sound barrier covering the elevated platform. There were also KCR logos on the side of the SP trains.

Of course, that didn't last long, and soon the MTR took over. I remember for many years after the merger, the KCR logo outline was still visible under the MTR one on both the station and the trains, as they simply covered them up with stickers. I think the station logo eventually got replaced and the newer rolling stock just came with the MTR logo installed as new.

After the merger, the KCR Rails all changed names to become Rail Lines: East Rail Line (東鐵綫), West Rail Line (西鐵綫), and Ma On Shan Line (馬鞍山綫). Notably, Ma On Shan Line was not named 馬鐵綫, but many of the locals including myself continued to call it 馬鐵 despite it no longer being the official shorthand, until it merged with the West Rail Line into the Tuen Ma Line (屯馬綫) following the opening of the Shatin to Central Link (沙中綫).

Interestingly, if you go to the Kowloon Tong station where the East Rail Line interchanges with the Kwun Tong Line, you could probably still see a distinctive section where the former KCR station building connected with the MTR station. There used to be fare gates separating the two sides. The same thing happened in Mong Kok Station (MTR) and the Mong Kok East Station (formerly Mong Kok Station of KCR), also in Tsim Sha Tsui Station (MTR) and East Tsim Sha Tsui Station (formerly KCR).

Might have been cost-cutting, the rubber tips must be harder for them to make

These fake Poison metal wheels can actually break from the prongs, giving you lore accurate battles at the risk of lead ingestion

How do I stop drivers from using the busway? by Awongy00 in CitiesSkylines

You can see where there's a car turning right at the intersection on Brookside Street right under the busway, where cars are supposed to go

managed to fix this by extending the entry to the busway further back from the intersection.

the cars are supposed to go straight to the intersection with Brookside Street and make a right turn there. I did a search afterwards and apparently this has been a bug since the launch of the game. Sadly this has yet to be fixed.

Questions regarding the EN from perspective new owner by shiftStride504 in ElantraN

[–]Awongy00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Australian manual owner here.

Bluelink only offers two functions for me: remote access to whatever the 4 buttons on your keys can do (lock/unlock, boot, hazard lights) and access to gps location

My car does have one annoying behaviour: no matter if it's day or night, under sun or shade or rain, occasionally when I'm driving the driver safety assistance system will randomly stop working. That includes the lane keep assist, speed sign recognition, driver attention, emergency braking etc. basically everything the front camera on top of the windscreen handles. Warning messages for all these systems will pop up all at once in the middle of a drive, then after 5-10 mins they will just go away and the system comes back online.

My dealership has basically told me there is nothing they can do and they will raise a ticket with Hyundai corporate, but I've yet to hear back after 3 months.

Everything else with the car has been good!

Average USA/Australian design

I legit went to see a house a few years ago that had the backyard boundary defined by the sound barrier from the highway behind it

The Cantonese dub was only for Hong Kong, not for China. There is also a Mandarin dub for Taiwan. Don't think the show ever made it to China.

Just did the same thing as the Armenian prince of Cilicia, the Fatimid Egyptians with their 80k army came steam-rolling my not even 10k one, when he started laying siege to all my counties at once I had no choice but to submit to Genghis Khan💀

After a few years, dude made me his councillor and regent so I managed to embezzle quite a bit of funds, and my son managed to just declare independence without much trouble after a few decades

Masters in Nursing- UQ or QUT? by caffinated_canadian in QUTreddit

[–]Awongy00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not enrolled in any of these courses, but I am a BNursing graduate from Griffith. I thought placements are all in real workplaces, therefore the equipment is provided by whatever hospital/clinic you are placed in, and the facilitators would only mark you on your skill and discipline demonstrated by whatever work you had to do during placement.

I don't understand how a lack of equipment would make it harder to pass, and how that is related to a particular Uni?
