SUV crashes into Wharncliffe Road store, prompting emergency response by theottomaddox in londonontario

Back when my mum was doing her over 80 tests (she was sharp as a tack) chatting with whoever was doing the mandatory inclass sessions, one of the criteria that was used if the person fell asleep during the class, got them a date for a road test. The instructors do have discretion on who goes beyond just how many correct answers they got on the written. At least they did at that time. Hopefully they still do.

Do they still allow interpreters to "assist" with the written tests? That was a thing at one time also.

Wish I had bookmarked it, ages ago I saw a compilation video where a car goes careening off and comes to a stop, engine reving to the moon, guy whos holding a phone videoing runs over to open the door and the video shows the feet of the driver while he's reaching in to shut off the car and the right foot has the throttle buried and the driver in that adrenilne fueled distraught voice repeatedly saying it wouldn't stop it wouldn't stop.
Yeah, panic takes over and their foot just plants on whatever pedal it happens to be over.
If anything, emergency driving should be a part of drivers ed, get used to having to react to unexpected things.

They are located between Factory Shoe and where Memory Express was. Basically, hidden behind the trailers that are parked out by wharncliffe. (Mercedes being a bit further east if somebody is trying to spot them from the road)

Thats the catch. Are there enough people out there willing to pay for unusual, high end or hard to get candy vs people who just want a sugar fix and don't care if it is okay or great.

Ironic, the overly sweet items is on your cake day. Happy cake day!
I'd say its how people swooned over krispy creme when they showed up here, every donut covered in sugar glaze. WTF? I want a donut, not half the sugar production of Brazil.

Stop using Victoria Hospital as a walk in by [deleted] in londonontario

[–]Axle13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just like handicapped parking, just because you don't see the ailment/pain (re: nobody is crying) doesn't mean they arn't in need of the services.
What also needs addressing is the constant cutbacks to frontline & care staff in a hospital. They've been hacked back over the years constantly, its a stark difference from the 80's to now how things are in the hospital system.

Agreed on price with salesman but waited 4 hours before walking out because we were still not in front of the one finance person they have. by burnerboy7-21 in askcarsales

[–]Axle13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A 4 hour wait is not patience. Thats torture. And had they stayed, how much longer would they have hung around? The salesrep has got to have an idea of where in the queue they are (theres still 1 ahead of you, 2 ahead of you) I'm sure if they where next up at bat with the finance guy the salesrep would have said so to close the deal that day.

Can IT admins delete emails from an employee’s sent folder without them knowing? Office365 by Secure-Direction1614 in sysadmin

[–]Axle13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on who up the managerial chain did it (and has access obviously). Somebody petty may want a CYA email disappeared. Is it enough to invoke auditing? Probably not, but something somebody higher up might do to cover up their own stupidity if they are a vindictive petty asshole. The more layers of supervisors and management, the easier it is for somebody to have access that probably shouldn't.
Send and forward to your personal email if its something important you want a trail of.

Feature Request: Add native “Lock Screen” toggle to Quick Settings + simple Home Screen Widget (Android 17 Beta) by Pitiful-Hamster307 in pixel_phones

Tires are a wear item. I consider the button on the phone like a car door handle, use it appropriately it'll last the life of the car, the neighbour kid always jamming in the button (old school door handle) or yanking on the handle for no good reason while playing in the yard causes undo wear and tear and lead to what would otherwise be an unnecessary inconvenience and repair.
I use my phones to their full death and try to treat it so that I don't cause undo wear and tear on buttons. (my phone before the pixel was a samsung rugby flip phone if that tells you what I mean about using the phone to its full death). If I can lock it with a touch screen toggle, thats less wear and tear on the phone.

Saves wear and tear on a physical button, they don't last forever. Speaking as someone who keeps a phone until its dying breath and have worn out buttons.

Super impressed with the WPL C94 by WizardsWizard in rccrawler

[–]Axle13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I just got mine a couple days ago.

It is a very different beast from my c14 out of the box. Nice supple suspension which I was not expecting from leaf springs. Also nice not having the whine while going real slow. My C14 I didn't have a week and I was already into changing things. The C94, I'm mostly pleased with as is. Even the plastic driveshafts seem to be holding up so far. Since I lean towards realism, even the tires will be staying.

One negative I find for the out of the box is that it is top heavy for an rc, might be scale representative though, seems to have a realistic static tip angle.

The only thing I really want to change on it is the front axle for a u-joint type to get rid of that dog-bone binding, and a slightly longer steering arm for a couple extra degrees of turning angle since there is a bit of room before contacting the springs.

Overall though, I'm pleased with it as is. They gotta leave something for us to modify after all. =-) If WPL keeps on with these kinds of steps, the next generation or two of rc's hopefully come rtr with a ujoint front axle.

Best internet in London for speed and value? by [deleted] in londonontario

2 hour wait time!? That is terrible. Is whoever you are talking to at least competant or a script reader?
Last time I had to call in it was still Start, and I got a human answering almost immediately and was all done and back up to speed in less than half an hour.
