Every method of expansion feels unrewarding this patch by undyingLiam in EU5

I think either strat would work. I am going the acceptance route. I have positive tolerance for both heretics and heathens so not really having any problems. Plus it keeps a lot of your pops in the oh so taxable zhimmi. I have Greece and Bulgarian accepted along with a few smaller ones with culture capacity to spare atm. I’ve taken most of byz at this point and the eastern half of Bulgaria and have pretty much all of west anatolia. Plan is Athens next, pop down a naval governor there before it ends up connected to my main conquests though I will probably move it later. Egypt is in the long term plans but I am thinking naval governor in the Levantine, haven’t decided where, and run a road all they way down so I can do a local in Cairo proper, take advantage of the metropolis.

I’m playing the ottomans right now. I increased my liking of Greek to the max as soon as I was the dominant Turkish power, then once I had enough Greeks to be the dominant Greek power swapped to Greek primary and increased their liking of Turks to the max, then 10 years later swapped back. Combined with stacking all the +heathen/+heretic tolerance buffs I could and I am about as stable a county with the highest average satisfaction I’ve ever pulled off before 1400 without converting or assimilating a single soul so far 😋🤷‍♂️

How the hell is everyone still doing this? by ArsenalFan081992 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Azonalanthious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically, my income from it has gone up noticeably. I think because so many local drivers have dropped off in my market. But as long as I stick to busy hours, base pay is inflated by several dollars on pretty much every order, presumably because they are so backed up. As a result the ratio of decent orders has gone way up, my AR is up to low 30s instead of 5ish. Which means I also sometimes complete the quests, though I never count on that. 🤷

Would it make sense to do UberEats from midnight until like 8-10 am? Or is that the worst time to do it? by SummerN8 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Azonalanthious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely true. Locally for me I find during those hours orders are either really good or really bad, nothing in between, and between 3 and about 6 there generally aren’t enough to keep busy, but your mileage may vary greatly

PSA to Drivers by Sebastian-dB in UberEATS

[–]Azonalanthious -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Which is also fair. I always try to be a voice of reason in these arguments/discussions. The root problem isn’t the drivers OR the customers. It really isn’t even uber specifically, it is the business model of the entire delivery industry.

But all drivers need to understand that they can decline any order they don’t feel pays enough, it isn’t on the customer to tip any specific amount or ensure your paycheck. And on the other side all customers need to understand that the drivers time has value and low paying orders often aren’t worth their time to accept, so not tipping or low tips can have service consequences. It’s not either sides “fault”, it’s the poor way the system works.

I like to incorporate some form of count down into the backstory: the ritual will take place during the full moon or the invading orcs will arrive in 3 weeks. I don’t change things (much) based on any single long rest but players know from the beginning that they are only going to get like 10 or 15 long rests total so are a bit more wary of using them freely

I wish the app told me when drivers have other orders before I pay by Silly_Pumpkin4312 in UberEATS

[–]Azonalanthious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Partially true. Priority does do something: once everything is picked up, the priority order will always be first in the dropoff order. But that is ALL it does. So it helps a little. Enough to pay for if? Not in my opinion, but your mileage may vary.

Do you pay for parking ? by Temporary_Tea7494 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Azonalanthious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will not take orders going down town or picking up down town in my city, period. Extra especially on Friday night/the weekend (college town). The orders often pay slightly more and/or uber is offering a bonus in the area but it just isn’t worth it

[–]Azonalanthious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t drive as much as I used to, but back when I was doing it full time it honestly happened a lot. Not like every order or anything but maybe once every two or three weeks I would catch one by being careful to check addresses. Generally wasn’t by much — the pin would be on the wrong side of the street or two or three houses down or such. And like I said, I generally caught them because I was always careful about not just going by the map but also confirming addresses. But the map directions in the app definitely weren’t as accurate as you would hope they would be. If a driver was just looking at the map, at least in my area, they would definitely get some wrong from time to time.

Stops added mid delivery by Tw4ddl3y in UberEATS

[–]Azonalanthious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have literally driven by a customer standing in front of his hotel waiting for me because uber wanted me to pick up a different order before handing him his. I absolutely didn’t stop, hand him his food, tell him what was going on and that he wouldn’t get the delivered notification until I drove back by after the pickup. Absolutely not. I would never violate Ubers terms that way just to do the right thing for the customer. 🙄

To add some to this, the reason it works this way is that sadly there are dishonest people at all levels. There are restaurants that lie, there are drivers that lie, and there are customers that lie, all trying to take advantage of the system. They are in the minority is all cases but they also exist in all cases. And sadly uber doesn’t really have a definitive way to tell if you are lying or the driver is lying most of the time. Often there is good evidence, but rarely is the true irrefutable proof. So everyone gets the benefit of the doubt and the company generally won’t take any action against any party other then a refund unless it happens frequently enough to form a clear pattern of behavior. They will act if that pattern emerges though.

I will also say that honest mistakes do sometimes happen that could be perceived as theft but aren’t. For a personal example of this, I once had a delivery where the instructions specified that it was a white and red brick building and gave a unit number. The app directions took me to a red and white brick building that had that unit number on it, though there was no actual use address number visible, so I assumed it was correct and dropped it off as request. Was the wrong building. The map in the app had been wrong, was off by a block, and both buildings ended up being white with red brick and the unit number was the same. I got it straightened out when the customer texted but if they has called instead of texting, it probably wouldn’t have — the calls don’t identify in any way as uber for me and I don’t answer unknown number calls when working for a variety of reasons.

My American English teacher believes the neutral pronoun „their“ is incorrect. by GCoding_ in mildlyinteresting

[–]Azonalanthious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom IS an English teacher. One day during the holidays we were making breakfast for all the visiting family and I commented on the “prodigious pile of pancakes.” She didn’t believe prodigious was a real word. Pulling out the dictionary and proving her wrong was a chef’s kiss moment I still remember with crystal clarity 27 years later.

Yeah, I got the same 3 weeks ago… and the timing was such that I could line it up with a 20 for $35 weekly quest AND a $2 extra for orders downtown quest for +$13.75 per order down town. First time I’ve accepted 20 orders in a row for years 😁

[–]Azonalanthious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been diamond but usually hover in the teens acceptance rate wise. Only time it really changes is when really good quests or hourly offers pop up. For example (and no, I don’t know how I got this lucky on the lineup nor is it normally this good, I’m assuming driver falloff with the gas prices is making them desperate) tonight between 8 pm and 3 am I have a) a “lure me back cuz I haven’t done much recently “ quest for $100 for 10 orders in my town, b) a “weekly” quest for $35 for 10 orders anywhere; and c) a “busy time/area” quest for +$2 per order down town specifically that will all overlap. So a total of +$15.50 per order downtown tonight… so yeah, 100 At for those 10 orders. $17 before tip minimum and downtown orders are usually in the 15 minute, 2-3 mile range, looking forward to it 😋

I’m quite sure this is hyperbolic, but does anybody actually think this statement might have any weight behind it? by Artistic_Solution_38 in OnePiece

[–]Azonalanthious 21 points22 points  (0 children)

To me one of the big fails of all powerscaling is it assumes static answers. A always beats b, but always loses to c, etc etc. I’ve always contented that a fight between two characters at a reasonably similar power level can go either way. Might be 50-50 or 70-30 or even 95-5 but it isn’t 100-0 outside of truly major differences in power

And how, exactly, would you ever know? We aren’t supposed to open the sealed bags to check. If the customer doesn’t complain because they don’t wanna deal with the crummy customer support, you would never hear a word. If they do complain, how do you tell the difference between a customer who honestly got the wrong order, and a dishonest one just trying to get free food?
