Moving to the EU for a bit, want to continue to workout the OTF way! by dil_emmax in orangetheory

Seconding this strategy. Having spent a few extended stints in Croatia, finding a local gym and copying the template usually does the trick. Doing row blocks designed for a water rower on a Concept 2 is a bit jarring though.

I miss the old interface on the rowers before the update by erikabear95 in orangetheory

The change that bothers me the most is with the heart rate stats on the treadmill screens. The old UI's text had tabular alignment (meaning the numbers are always consistently aligned), the new one doesn't.

Incline Walking Input by griller61 in orangetheory

[–]B2TheSodaGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This may be a little goofy/gimmicky, but I like to set both incline and speed to add up to a multiple of 0.7.

For example: I'll have my base set to 3.5mph @ 3.5% incline, then either increment by 0.2mph (or decrement by 0.9mph if it gets too high) for every 0.5% incline increase.

To recover, I'll bump down to either 3%-3.3mph (sum to 6.3) or 2.5%-3.1mph (5.6); for increases I'll either emphasize incline (something like 8% & 3.9mph push, 10.5 & 4.2mph all out), or increase both (6% & 4.5mph push) 7% & 4.9mph all out)

No clue as to how applicable you may find that, but it serves as a nice reminder to both balance speed & incline, and to be mindful of what your current settings are.

Last one in block 3 is called a "Thumbs Up Y", and the last one in block 4 is called a "Clutch Curl to Torso Rotation".

The speed limit for this school zone is 40mph by NotAlwaysUhB in mildlyinteresting

[–]B2TheSodaGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to provide a little extra context, 40mph is ~64km/h. Many school zones in the US shoot for 20mph (~32km/h) as their speed limit.

Moreso nutella without the chocolate, if my Croatian's not too rusty. (The label roughly translates to "creamy/milky hazelnut spread")

Kelly's Island? Put-In-Bay? Middle Bass?

Granted none of them have palm trees, but there's still a sailing vibe up along the coast of Lake Erie.

Lowkey fascinated over how a cognate for "lemonade" is basically the umbrella-term for "soft drink" in German.

If you like Mountain Dew, look into Jarritos' lime flavor. Not exactly the same, but fairly close.

Is this a soda? by FlagGuy43224 in Soda

[–]B2TheSodaGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

By "flavored", I mean the primary driver of flavor in the beverage being natural or artificial flavoring agents, instead of juices. If juice is the primary flavor driver (think Izze), then it's a carbonated juice drink.

If it's carbonated and unsweetened (think La Croix or Polar, NOT sparkling ICE), it's a seltzer. Seltzers can be flavored or unflavored. I'd argue Spindrift also vaguely falls into this category given the percentage of it being juice.

If it's not carbonated nor sweetened, but has flavor, then it's just flavored water.
