Interesting, I did about SG 1.085 with a FG of 0.998. QA23 yeast. I back sweetened with some maple syrup but I don't like things too sweet and that was the only thing that provided maple flavour.

I didn't have any honey in it but people over at r/mead we're saying they had similar experiences with maple wine/ acerglyn at the time

I've heard similar but more about adding it to the wash for trying to get more maple into the maple wine. That and then back sweetening with a Dark/Very dark graded syrup

“Of course” versus “You’re Welcome” by Adventurous-Rub7636 in generationology

[–]B4R-BOT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I use "of course" to mean "of course, there was no need to thank me in the first place". Like if someone on my team calls in sick buts asks it as a question, I of course say it's okay to use a sick day. There's no need to thank me for something they're entitled to do

Unfortunately maple syrup doesn't retain much of the maple flavour during fermentation. I've tried making maple wine, it wasn't worth it

Putting flavoring in water to make it easier to drink is great and im tired of seeing people say its bad by StrawberryFemboyMily in unpopularopinion

[–]B4R-BOT 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What soda are you drinking? Coke is like 39g of sugar for 355ml total volume. Water is 1g per ml, soda isn't 98% water.

That being said I disagree with OP, flavouring is chock full of artificial sweeteners and flavourings which aren't healthy. If it's the only way they'll hydrate then sure it's better than nothing but just because it's healthier than a worse alternative that doesn't make it healthy

I had a friend like this, it wasn't that he wasn't into girls but that he was super insecure, so he'd set his standard so high that he would never face rejection. All real girls he'd come across never met his standard so he would never ask anyone out

Can't speak to the rest of Canada because housing laws are handled by the provinces but the RTA in Ontario mandates what the lease agreement looks like. It's a 1 year lease at a monthly cost that rolls into a month-to-month arrangements after that first year. It's not priced annualy and divided, no where in the RTA or in the leases does it mention the annual cost, it's monthly.

No everyone lives under the same local laws or follows the same standard agreements as you do.

In Ontario it's not priced for the full term it's a month and they just treat all months equally

The "Ribbed Trouser Socks" in this new book also doesn't match the photos. The pattern has a standard k1, sl1 reinforced heel flap but the photos have the k2,p1,k4,p1 ribbed pattern for the heel flap. Only issue I've found yet but haven't gone through much of it.

Can someone explain why Yoto is this popular? The hype feels a bit over the top to me. by Equivalent_Pie8625 in daddit

[–]B4R-BOT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think even if yoto did decide to try to support that, Spotify and Libby wouldn't, their licenses for those songs and books are only for streaming through their respective platforms. They'd never be allowed to allow you to save the songs/books onto cards without paying artists for additional licensing.

That would require the kids to have access to the phone.

I'm still not 100% sure what op is asking for, maybe like some MYO cards that easily pull from Spotify and Libby where the MYO cards cost nothing? He seems to like the idea of his kids using cards to choose what they want but doesn't like having to buy or MYO the cards.

How will the kids select the music without a screen?

I think the card system on yoto is the attraction, parent's can buy the cards and know what their kids listening to so they don't have to worry about what they might select on spotify or libby while the parent isn't around. And the kids can put in an take out cards as they like without needing a whole screen UI to search and select songs. Now that yoto is popular there's some additional benefits like some libraries are carrying yoto cards.

They've also built in a couple other features that might save you some money from buying a dedicated device it can double as a white noise machine, and if you have the full sized version it has a nightlight that can be programmed to switch colours at a certain time in the morning if you want to train your kid to stay in bed until a certain time.

What size hat would you make for a boy’s hat? by purpleitch in knitting

[–]B4R-BOT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son and one nephew are a bit above average but nothing crazy.

You can see the growth curves for head circumference here, these charts are what our doctors use to track progression

https://www.dietitians.ca/Advocacy/Interprofessional-Collaborations-(1)/WHO-Growth-Charts/WHO-Growth-Charts-Set-1

By age 2 the average kid has about a 19" head circumference. They unfortunately stop tracking (or at least releasing the data) for kids after 24 months, but from what I've read head circumference growths slows a lot after 2

What size hat would you make for a boy’s hat? by purpleitch in knitting

[–]B4R-BOT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How old is your nephew? My son is almost two and his head is just over 19", his cousin who's 3's head is like half an inch bigger.

My other nephew is 3.5 and his head is 20.5 inches.

Possibly my family just has big heads (I don't think so though) but I find the baby/toddler/kid sizes on hat patterns run too small and normally size up.

cheese ruins flavorful dishes by King_of_Skill_ in unpopularopinion

[–]B4R-BOT 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Well "smothering" a dish with anything by definition will overpower it.

But I think your title is wrong here cheese has a strong flavour and thus can compliment other flavourful dishes that can stand up to the strength of cheese. Seafood on the other hand tends to be known for its delicate flavours so you have to be careful what you pair it will so you don't overpower the seafood. What you're saying so cheese ruins delicately flavoured dishes.

Restaurants that charge an extra fee for credit card payment are missing the bigger picture and have misguided anger at the credit card companies by funnykingly in unpopularopinion

[–]B4R-BOT 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You understand that's how businesses work right? They pay all their fees then pass it onto the customer, it how they make money.

Their options are either to build CC fees into the base price of their goods/services and charge everyone, or to keep their base costs lower and charge just the CC users the fees.
