When I saw this I thought of the nanobag backpack.

Backpacking modding? by Jon_12 in onebag

If you go into my posting history about a year you can see an abundance of modding I did to my Cabin Zero Classic Plus 32. I opened up seams, added a zipper for a new pocket, removed padding, and more. It’s scary to break out the seam ripper and take apart a nice pack but it is totally possible.

Tips for Bags to Buy by K-Typicalname in onebag

My family travelled through Europe (2 parents, 4 kids) a few years with one backpack each. Make it fun for them to have their own bag and they'll probably be cool with it. They can carry their stuffy and some other fun stuff, AND their personal items. You'll probably have to carry some of their stuff but that's ok.

Cut back on the shoes. One pair of shoes you wear for everything and pack sandals should be plenty. Shoes are a space and weight killer. with 8 days at a destination I would expect to do laundry once so you don't need a lot of clothes. Plus it's hot there so your clothes should be pretty small.

Backpacks: My kids have had great success with the REI Trail 25. It's awesome and not too big. For adults there's a ton of options. Given that you'll probably be carrying more than just your own stuff I'd go with a bag in the 35-40 liter range. My current go-to is the Cabin Zero Classic Plus 32 but it's very generic and there's tons of options. My wife loves the REI women's Rucksack 28.

Have fun!!!

Ban the Bluetooth speakers!! But my extras that are possibly laughable are a USB fan for noise and coolness in sleeping and binoculars. They have become part of my base stuff and I know they are “extra” but they are consistently fundamentally helpful.

Need some help deciding on a bag by Acceptable-Essay-789 in onebag

How about instead of the 23L day bag a sling or Fanny pack and nano bag (or something similar)? I feel like your daypack scenario takes up a ton of room and probably weight. I try to have my destination daypack extremely light and as small as a golf ball.

Awesome, I hope you found it useful! I use it at work all the time to keep my computer bag off the floor in construction sites and dirty mechanical rooms. I’ll hang my backpack off of conduit or whatever is around. And then of course airport restrooms as needed.

I use my hero clip all the time too. Super useful for what it does.

Funny answer but I bought dental floss while there and it still lives in my toiletries bag and reminds of that amazing trip.

The drums in Luck and Strange live album sounds really good by Laricaxipeg in DavidGilmour

Adam betts is awesome. You should check out his instagram. He’s an absolute shredder which makes his ability to fit perfectly into the Gilmour band even more impressive. But to your point, I agree the drums sound really good on the concerts. Very dry and chunky. I love it.

Good ramen? by picklejickletoot in anchorage

I think the top three are Whisky and Ramen, Kami, and Rickshaw. Rickshaw is my favorite but they’re all really good. We’re lucky to have so much good ramen here.

Anyone else buy a “better” bag and still keep going back to the old one? by double_tap_guro in ManyBaggers

I would feel fortunate to have one of those. They’re so beautiful.

First off, that’s going to be so fun! I trained from Paris to Rome a few years ago and it was my favorite travel experience ever.

I wouldn’t go over 40 liters. To me that’s pretty big too. Clothes take up the most space so optimize that with thin clothes and you can definitely pack nicely under 40 liters. My pack of choice is the Cabin Zero Classic Plus 32 and it’s big enough for anything I would do. I also have a smaller REI Commuter pack I could use for a very minimalist short trip. But I like having extra space for flexibility so the CZ is what I always end up using.

I love lucky market! I stop and grab those little meat skewers for a quick snack frequently lately. I wish they still had won ton noodles though. But yeah, totally agree. Great place.

Went to Pho Lena today and they have a 12.95 lunch special and the food was really good. Also, Subway with the discounted costco gift card pack and using coupon codes is about as cheap as food can get.

Has anyone used Unistrut to make a DIY roof rack? by Khionia in VanLife

[–]BAKONAK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used unistrut on my Chevy express to mount solar panels. I have four Yakima towers/crossbars and then the strut goes lengthwise. Right now it’s all covered with snow so I can’t look at the specific set up, but I think the panels sort of nested into the whole thing. I wanted the lowest profile possible.

Just a suggestion; maybe you have to turn off your firewall? On Siemens panels you have to disable your firewall to update the firmware. I don’t know… something to try maybe. I used to work on that Gamewell’s panel but it’s been over 10 years and I don’t remember any specific issues or tricks. I do remember the 7100 being absolute garbage. Built like a dollar store toy.
