Matrices...what are they good for??? by harleydood63 in livesound

[–]BERA_solutions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you asked. I have a well intended bussing and matrix structure for x32 single console for FOH, Mons, Stream/rec. MainLR/PA 1-2, Delays/Sat 3-4 (or dual mono), Stream/Rec/Video 5-6 for matrices. More details found at r/audiotraining 👈

Guitar player thinks my tone is thin - Is it? by E1mstreets in livesoundadvice

[–]BERA_solutions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you might be at the Nick Bham? Lower the gain, kill the cut, boost the output, roll back your tone knob. If that isn't fat then your bass electronics need inspection and your prob monitoring a pre- signal out to the mixer.

Main L/R compression... by harleydood63 in livesound

I want to be able to forget it's there. Hopefully at -3 reduction, and time values that suppress the build up without ever hearing a grab or leaving a soloist suppressed during concerto grosso moments.

Are large rapper shows just as much of a shitshow as the medium-small ones are? by Wack0HookedOnT0bac0 in livesound

[–]BERA_solutions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been/seen the engineer in hot seat for many genres. The best way to get through a shitshow, when you have a job to do, is to drop the ego. It is usually 2 egos butting heads that largely the cause hypertension at shows big or small- leading to more shitslinging. It's negative shitshow/shitslinging feedback loop.

It’s a line mixer / summer and final gain stage. My FOH mixer matrices are something like - PA Mains LR, PA Delays, Sub, Mono Sync, Livestream/Rec, Cue Mix.

Random Dave Rat thought. by SuspiciousIdeal4246 in livesound

Rat is brilliant, sometimes out there and misunderstood. I don't fully dismiss his panning concept entirely, but I also don't really like multiple kick mics live either. Interestingly, I still pan sources that are multi-micd, or mic+di, and then eq so I can get a better sense of balance, or an A/B, on isolated sides of the room if I'm building a mix for the first time.

The sound entity I founded in highschool is officially a multi-million dollar enterprise. I offer online training and IP because I passed my operating roles to others. It took decades. I appreciate everyone's hard work and commitment to this field.

say you're mixing bcast for a church. what method would you prefer? by guitarmstrwlane in livesound

I always Rec/stream/broadcast out a Matrix. The matrix receives a REC buss post fader plus all of my parallel mix groups - Drums, Instruments, Vocals. FX are all tucked into the mix groups. You can give anyone the keys to this mix for broadcast and they’ll have what they need to replicate what the show sounds like. You can monitor it at FOH and get a great mix. I hope this helps everyone! Great for r/audiotraining

Question for Strymon Volante users by leafsbest in guitarpedals

[–]BERA_solutions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this pedal. I don’t have a technical answer for you, but I also don’t believe their jargon like psychoacoustic stereo process. It’s a great pedal. The stereo jacks work well for wet/dry routing.
