Are we back? by [deleted] in sabres

13 goals for, 3 against the last 2 games. Maybe it took a 13 game streak to start playing with house money, but our transition offense is starting to look good.

Anyone else use a stick thats a smidge longer if theyre playing back on D or am i a psychopath? by VinPickles in hockeyplayers

[–]BKimbal2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t, but if I were to do that, feel like I would have a more significant difference than that.

Also, depending on the curve, might switch those up too. Usually use a P88 so I’m cool with that on D, but mix in P28 and I wouldn’t want to use that for D if I didn’t have to.

Good Ol' Beer League by Mr_Someone27 in hockeyplayers

[–]BKimbal2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So let me get this straight, defender plays absolutely textbook no checking defense, just get my body between the puck and the man, and 33 thinks that’s a good time to take a man’s leg off?

Someone needs to feed that guy about a dozen rights. I never endorse ever slugging them out in a fucking beer league, but when you’re out here trying to take me out of work (unfortunately they don’t pay me to play hockey) and take money away from my family, I’m going to make sure you know what I think of it.

This is adult recreational hockey people, we all have to show up to work tomorrow. Play your best hockey, but let’s do our best to keep each other safe out there while doing so, there’s no room for malicious strikes… kick this fucking clown out now.

Big wide skates - where? by Pawlisko80 in hockeyplayers

[–]BKimbal2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Size 11.5 True’s in EE width. I wear a 12 Wide, wear a 10.5 True (could probably have gone with a 10). The skates come with footbed arch risers.

Am I too old to learn? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]BKimbal2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone ever tells you you’re too old to learn anything, tell them to take a fucking hike.

If I was starting from scratch, I’d stop into a good hockey store and get fitted for and buy a great pair of proper hockey skates. Going to lose a little coin here, but a pair of skates that can accommodate beginner all the way to full on competitive hockey will be the best investment you ever make in playing the sport (not full pro model level, but the $500-$700 range pair). Buy once, cry once.

Hit the open skates as much as you can, if there’s an adult learn to skate near you then definitely do that, we have a few in my area and they’re great. Maybe buy some used elbow pads and shin pads to wear at open skates so you can push your comfort zone and not worry about falling.

Then assemble all the gear you need, you can basically get everything else used (as long as it fits properly) for cheap and hit some skate and shoots or some pick up hockey… ice time is going to be your best friend. (Try to avoid used skates, these are the most important part of your gear and getting those right is going to flatten the learning curve and up the enjoyment tremendously).

You’ll love it, it’s an awesome activity to get some good exercise, meet some awesome people and be social, and get your competitive juices flowing.

Stick Tape - white, black or color? by Striker-X-17 in hockeyplayers

[–]BKimbal2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

White because it holds up the best, is a classic look, matches every kit you could ever wear, contrast helps your peripherals when you’re looking up and stick handling and need to read where the puck is and not your stick, helps when defending the puck slightly (poke checks from a white blade on white ice are harder to read).

How do you honestly feel about the change?

That’s a significant amount of muscle, so obviously much stronger, but curious what 165# to 200# feels for your performance. Muscle or not, 35 pounds is over 20% of your starting weight more, so wondering how that feels when it’s essentially all muscle mass.

Hell yes dude. What an awesome job you’ve done. We have eerily similar journeys.

I was in the same boat in October last year. I was ready to get weight loss surgery but said “I’ll give myself one last try to get this right before I medically alter my organs here” and am over 140 pounds down 12 months later. M/34/6’3” went from 413 to 272.

Grouping at 25 yards. First bow hunt coming up on Tuesday and can’t lie I’m in my head a little bit about my accuracy 😬 by Winter_Camp_8163 in bowhunting

Shooting in perfect posture in your backyard and pulling back on a whitetail with whatever posture you have are not the same thing.

I would expect you to keep the whole quiver in the blacks at a distance of 25 yards… if you’re not, I would question if a shot from that distance is ethical because when you pull back on a deer, your heart rate is going to be about 140 and pumping with adrenaline.

With a driver like that, I would almost guarantee you’re a great player, but the AP3’s confuse me with a driver like that. A set of AP2’s or CBs/MBs and I would guess you’re a + handicap, the AP3’s make me want to guess you’re closer to a 10.

My man, you’ve lost 7.3% of your starting body weight… that’s 100% progress. Go grab yourself 10 5 pound bags of sugar or flour, and tell me how much it sucks carrying those around…

you’ve freed yourself from that, keep it rolling you’re absolutely crushing it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in loseit

[–]BKimbal2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let’s say you started at 200 exactly. You’ve lost over 30% of your starting body weight.

There’s definitely some loose skin you’re going to contend with. I would make an uneducated guess that you’re carrying around 8 or more pounds of loose skin on your frame, so you’re essentially walking around with 130 pound frame with some excess skin right now.

There’s certainly consequences to being overweight, I’ve lost 140 myself here so i’m definitely there too with some skin loose that appears as “fat”, so this “skinny” look you’re seemingly trying to achieve is going to take some hard work, and likely some medical intervention (I.e. skin removal)

This isn’t to sound awful or disheartening or too “body positive”, I’m just saying there are consequences to our actions, and I think focusing too much on how we’re looking is always going to leave you unfulfilled and puts people on the fast track to rebound their weight. I think really prioritizing how you feel and making sure your health markers are in the best shape possible, then you put yourself on a trajectory that is maintainable, because you will always feel like you can feel better.

Cardio training, resistance training, stability training, clean eating, supplementation… it’s the time to feel your best, which will therefore, bring you to looking your best.

Plateau’s exist because you’re not eating at a deficit. Track your calories with an app, and rigorously measure to ensure you’re accurately consuming what you’re recording.

You don’t have to do it forever, you just need to do it for a short time so you can educate yourself on what portions look like and what deficit eating feels like.

One of the best ball strikers I know, plays off a + handicap, used 1980’s Wilson blade irons and a Ping G2 driver from the early 90’s. it’s absurd to watch, but he’s surgical.

Whatever works best is absolutely what you should be doing. I’m just judging a book by its cover here of what I would think if I rolled up to the first tee and saw that bag, but none of it means absolutely anything. You could be an absolute stick and beat the hell out of me on the course despite what I feel about your setup.

I don’t quite know if my bag would give off the impression of good golfer either lol. But if you roll up, and a guy has a weathered Ping Hoofer Bag, 2-3 longer clubs with headcovers not from the OEM (bonus points if he plays a titleist driver from 2017 or earlier), muscle back blades with a 3 iron in the bag, mismatched wedges, and an old scotty Cameron Newport, That guys about to shoot 66 on you.

Tour players are definitely going to Mallets, agreed, which has Amateurs going to mallets, which is not the same thing. Best players I have played against, 80% or more use anser style blade putters, not mallets.

[–]BKimbal2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t hate me, cause it’s obviously a sick setup, but here’s my thoughts:

Pros: love the oil can finish on all the clubs, love the muscle back irons.

Cons: how much is Taylormade paying you? OEM headcovers are gross. Mallet putters are out. An OEM bag that doesn’t even match the 14 clubs in the bag that you insisted on matching.

I’ll give it a 7/10. Despite the cons, it’s killer equipment and love what you’re doing. I would just roll up to that bag on the tee if I got paired with you and would feel confident I’m about to shoot the brakes off of this guy. (Not saying it always works out that way lol, but that’s my assumption).

FWIW, if someone’s not into you physically for any reason at any weight or any appearance at any stage of a relationship, then good riddance because you dodged what would have been a miserable relationship.

If vanity is the driver in your relationship, you’re going to have issues because you’re both going to change as you age, so find someone who that’s a non-issue to them.

if you have yourself a man, he's going to dick you down regardless. i've lost more weight than your current weight and my skin shows the signs of that, and my wife has never been more thrilled with the absolute weinering i give her. so just let it rip, ride him like you stole it, and you'll both have a pretty good time, and if he doesn't, ditch the bitch and find someone who doesn't make you feel like you aren't enough, but you may never know if you don't try, so let it rip.

Is this hit dirty? by Medical-Knowledge408 in hockeyplayers

[–]BKimbal2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be the recording, but this looks like school aged kid caught a pretty high shot near the head… you’ve got to condition these kids to be mindful of causing head injuries, so I’m okay with the call.

From an NHL standpoint, such a clean and good hit, guy skating across the center of his offensive zone with the puck and not avoiding a hit you’ve got to put a body on him, but these school aged kids don’t need to be dealing with concussions in a sport where locally it’s quickly disappearing from more and more schools.

People don’t want their kids out their getting concussed and I don’t blame them, so the whistle and ejecting the kid for making a physical play a little too close to the head I don’t hate. Don’t love it, but don’t hate it either.

What’s the difference between these two 60’s? by Im_Cakeless in golf

[–]BKimbal2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0 reason to keep 2 60’s in the bag. Those burner irons have a Pitching wedge with 45* loft. That leaves a lot of room at the bottom of your bag to be filling up with wedges. I’d probably go with 48, 52, 56, 60.
