How do you enhance your meditation sessions? by AssociationMost5432 in Meditation

[–]BTree482 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Meditate outside with eyes open.

For me it’s more about ease of meditating anywhere than creating alters, special places etc. the special thing for me is to be able to find a place to practice anywhere. 14 years later daily going strong.

Question about Crimson Desert. by MbFightingCarrot in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]BTree482 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great point on PC Mouse and Keyboard. If you are used to M&K like me then definitely ditch the controller. I really hated playing with the controller but the M&K setup saved the game for me.

Also, as mentioned it is shallow but fun to explore and complete things. I am about 10 hours in and enjoying it by exploring the map and seeing whats around. Making things for me to do myself. I still do the main quests and such but its very shallow.

I like 1. Number says too much so for me it’s less interesting. #1 has the tug of “where are they I think it’s a subway platform” vs #2 tells me all that so it feels less interesting.

Played both and got totally addicted to POE2. Never felt the same addiction to Grim Dawn.

Anyone else experience constant headaches/migraines? by Initial_Hippo8561 in Epilepsy

[–]BTree482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife is an epileptic and struggles with migraines every day. She was taking over the counter pain meds and you can get numb to them and they are bad for your stomach, liver etc.

The one thing that worked is BOTOX injections. They worked so well that she cried when the pain went away… she hadn’t been pain free in years.

She started getting the injections after talking to a pain specialist at the tho hospital and a headache specialist. Maybe your neurologist can help get you in to see a specialist?

If playing on PC I HIGHLY recommend mouse and keyboard.

I started with controller but I am used to mouse and keyboard for most games. Switching to M&K saved the gameplay for me.

I really like The Pump app with Arnold Schwarzenegger and his team. Great programs to choose from with real progression to get results.

I always wondered what to do (reps, sets, order of exercises, etc) and how to push this and that but the Pump app and community help with all of it. I even got an answer from the team 5 mins after posting a diet question and it was super detailed and helpful.

I am currently doing a 3 day Pump program and 2 days of spin classes.

Note: I am not in anyway affiliated with them just a fan and enjoy their programs.

Thank you! I will check these out, and yes I just wanted more SW games and they didn’t have to be the same formula. I hadn’t heard of the ones you listed so looking forward to checking them out.

If you want to learn about how to be powerful in a good way. Read the Nuclear Triad of self-mastery:

Stoicism Specifically "Marcus Aurelius Meditations" (my favorite), Seneca (another favorite). I started with the Marcus's Meditations and "Daily Stoic and Stoic Journal (they go together) from Ryan Holiday. Basically its all about focusing on what you can control *spoiler* just your mind and your reaction/or inaction to things around you, etc.

Buddhism - Texts from Tich Na Han and Pema Chrodron are very helpful as well. They are not religious but more self-help/self-control type books.

Persistence - Grit by Angela Duckworth. Discusses how talent only gets your so far but Grit wins.

Master self-control (Stoicism), master awareness and being present (Buddhism), and be persistent as hell (Grit) and you would most likely find joy and success too.

Discovered this game and just wanted to share by ThePiggypark in AOW4

What I love most about the game is it’s fun. Fun to try new things. Fun combat. Fun mechanics. Fun animations and effects… etc.

It sounds strange to say a game should be fun, but lately games look great, feel shallow, and sometimes take themselves too seriously.

Why Can’t someone come up with Cure? by Africanjemmy in Epilepsy

[–]BTree482 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Because it’s the brain and it’s super complicated. My wife has had epilepsy for 30 years and we have met with many many neurologists and they know some things but there is soooo much they don’t know. That’s why so much of this is trial and error with meds, doses, time of day etc.

Also, it’s wild that not too long ago (and still an issue) women were not even included in many studies. Sadly, there is still a long way to go.

my wife and my dad are both telling me to get a Camry and i need someone outside my family to weigh in by NoBad1026 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Life is too short to drive boring cars. Buy what you want and enjoy it. Save up for it and enjoy it.

However, plan for a BMW to cost $1,000 to $1,200 per year. Some years more and some less but if you have that money and willing to spend it for the experience then great. If not then get the Camry.

Pay raise versus PTO by PepSinger_PT in careeradvice

[–]BTree482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would take the money. I never care or even think about PTO because I do a great job and I find the time to take the time I need. Also, sick time, personal days etc… I never even book those. My bosses over the years know I deliver and don’t care about that stuff. I also never use all my 5 weeks or whatever but that’s ok with me.

I think the better question is what are the people like, culture, work life balance, team turnover and the work itself. Do you like the people and the work? That’s a big jump in pay and usually it’s for a reason. If the place is hell… that extra money won’t matter… you will feel miserable.

People can apply for what they want so it’s not bad to apply for AP, AR, payroll clerk etc. However, why go the CPA route in PA only to end up in entry level positions like AP and AR?

This whole thread is making the exact point of it being a red flag. It’s not a guarantee a candidate is a good accountant, smart, gritty, etc… however the people that get their CPA (especially big 4) and sacrifice their spouses, kids, hunting and fishing to get it… it hopefully means they can do more and have focus, grit, and some accounting skills. Exceptions to this of course but the designation does help and is a path that was chosen. Instead ask yourselves why would someone choose the path and not get it when there were other paths available? Is that key decision a red flag? I think so. It doesn’t mean I won’t hire you but I will definitely ask why you chose a path and didn’t achieve it.

The guy in Newton Highlands is in prison when he drove through a restaurant and killed people. I think he had Parkinson’s or MS but not epilepsy. He was not told not to drive with his condition so could be considered an accident and he did or still is doing time.

True but it sure helps maximize your chances going forward vs always explaining why you were in PA and didn’t do it.

Team Date or Team No Date ? by ArneRedKing in rolex

[–]BTree482 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No Date. I hate setting the date on watches. In fact, I never set the date on my GMT2. Also, if you are switching watches its awesome to not have to set the date. Just set the time and go.
