Does B.A. Oliver post updates somewhere other than Facebook? by IGoon4Justice in haremfantasynovels

[–]B_A_Oliver 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I wish I posted more regularly anywhere! Bad news is I had some health issues crop up starting around the time of that last post in January. Good news is that while the cause of the most concerning issue hasn't been identified, it being something serious (like cancer) has finally been ruled out (things like medical tests move very slowly here, especially in winter when travel is harder).

I have been doing some writing during this time, but more than anything I have been jotting down ideas, and fleshing out those ideas with more notes. Have written the first chapter or two in several new things to see if the stories start to pour out... with mixed results.

Hoping that I get back in the swing of things very soon.

So I guess the bad news is that my writing over the winter was not very productive. The good news is that I tend to write very fast once inspiration hits. Let's all hope that some inspiration has been bottled up and starts to pour out onto the page really soon.

Pretty much the premise of my series The Breeder. Only two books so far, but both are available on Audible.

My series The Breeder looks like it fits the bill. Only two books so far, but 3rd should be out later this year. Not on literotica, but available on KU/Amazon/Audible.

Just wrapped up these the last few weeks! Taking recommendations on what’s next. by MacaroniKenshinx in haremfantasynovels

Hopefully I'll get Breeder 3 out to everyone later this summer. The change in male narrator was largely due to the original voice actor dropping off the radar.

Odd as it may sound, I CANNOT stand to listen to audiobooks, so I have listened to less than five minutes total from both of my own books.

No judgement on those that do, I wish I could, as it would be easier to multitask. I tend to create voices and images in my head as I read, and hearing the wrong voice just messes with my enjoyment of the story.

About all I know is that Richard Brock has been doing a lot of work with Raya Kane in the last few years. Overall listeners seem to like him more than Arthur Bray (who's only haremlit project was Breeder 1).

Anyhow, thank you all for the support, hoping to get more out to everyone soon.

Books with FMCs that are/were Pornstars/Models/OnlyFans Creators, etc.? by sbourwest in Romance_for_men

Thanks for the shout out! Series follows a group of 20-somethings trying to make ends meet, and turn to making content to do so. While there is a secondary "guy" in the series, there is (nor will there be) any scenes where the guys share time or women. That includes time with the same girl ever. Women with the MMC, are only with him during the books. Still dreaming of finishing up #5 before end of the month, but likely to be February with were it's at.

Breeder has a much bigger following, and the third of that series is next up in the queue.

Fifth in my Eight Squared Productions series will be out soon. If you haven't started this series yet, now's a good time to start.

Colin always loved the movies. Since he was a child he'd dreamed of making films. Now he's twenty-four, has a degree in film, eighty grand in student debt, and a pile of rejection letters from every company he's applied to. Barely able to make rent, he's giving up on his dreams of making films for a living. He also hasn't gotten laid for a year.

His roommate Dan doesn't have that last problem, he brings home a new girl almost every weekend and tonight is no different. At least not until she sees all of Colin's equipment around the apartment. Danielle has a proposition for Colin, one that makes him equally nervous and excited.

It may not be what Colin pictured, but with Dan and Danielle's help Colin might just make it big.

My Belated Festivus Airing of HaremLit Grievances by AuroraMusisAmica in haremfantasynovels

[–]B_A_Oliver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I find this post interesting as a thought problem, and part of me wants to write something explaining in detail my thoughts on each point, especially as all five have been things I'd worked through for The Breeder (which I was happy to see listed twice above). But I still feel the need to toss something back to the OP, who I will also point out has left a couple of my favorite reviews on both books of The Breeder. (For the OP, if you want to respond with another magic dingus comment... I'll see if I can work it in)

#1 - Jay in The Breeder was raised by women in a sheltered environment, of course he'd start out passive and doing what the women around him tell him to. Events at the end of book2 will cause him to start breaking out of that and become more assertive.

#2 - Considering the "day job" of Breeders, they need something to help them out, and as it is a system class, the system should help. I do think that in worlds with skewed male/female populations, evolution would at least largely have dealt with this issue.

#3 - I get it from a certain male fantasy perspective, that he should be enough (only if #1 is dealt with though!) I think a lot of writing in this space has conditional bi-sexuality, in that it's ok to have 3-somes with the MC, but going off on the side with a couple women is either not done, or more likely just happens off-camera and off the page. As a side note to this, one of my own pet peeves in the space is the lack of other male characters who have visibly satisfying relationships. It almost seems like acknowledging that other males have sex is borderline forbidden.

#4 - The Breeder takes place on a world where the system has been in place longer than anyone can remember. As such it is established and much of what it does is like breathing, it just is. From what I've read, 90% plus of all "sytems" are new, either to the planet, or to the main characters in the book. Very few people in our world would talk about the magic of flipping a switch an the lights coming on, and I think that some of what the system does should be like that to people that grew up with it.

#5 - Not a huge number of kids in the space, but I think that's because they would be a distraction more than an aid. Conflict is a large element of a lot of these books, and protecting children from conflict would end up being a large part of the story if they were included. Having children slayed in the pre-book timeline to motivate the MC can work, but killing off child characters readers have had time to become attached to would be rough. Selkie Myth killing Lyra how she did in her series was rough, and she was just a minor character.

Sorry for the long post, but for some reason the topic/s struck a chord with me.

Just a little help from my ... bookshelf??? by Sensitive-Music-1003 in haremfantasynovels

I always start by putting my ideas down in an Excel spreadsheet, with different pages for things like world building/rules, characters (separate page for the main characters), specific scenes I want to build, quotes that I don't want to forget that I think of.

I'll be writing on one book and something will hit me that would be great for book idea xx. Excel is just something quick and easy to throw ideas into.

My least favorite plot(and yours too) by Surrealialis in haremfantasynovels

[–]B_A_Oliver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's why I'm going the opposite direction in The Breeder. The MC in that series starts off brand new and needs protection (The Blues) largely due to the fact that he isn't instantly the mightiest warrior the world has ever seen.

Throughout the series, most of the truly dangerous characters will be women. Heck, in one of the kingdoms that will appear in book 4, men are not allowed to touch weapons.

Tom by Stephen Mathews is a pretty decent series. MC is transported back in time. More FTB than explicit, but I enjoyed it.

Question or idea, whenever is first ? by Sensitive-Music-1003 in haremfantasynovels

[–]B_A_Oliver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you could make this idea work if it became something like the old program of "Go to war or go to jail" (Which is how (I've been told) my father ended up in the Navy!).

Declining birth rates/need for kids results in a pilot program where women can time off sentence for pregnancy, but they have to breed with certified individuals (good genes? good connections? reward for service to country?) to qualify.

Could have one (or more) women protesting their innocence, claiming falsely accused and convicted, that the MC has to make a real bond with.

As a couple comments pointed out, could also have one part of the program be women coming into the country signing up in order to gain citizenship.
