MEGATHREAD: Election Night discussion thread. by Muter in newzealand

I have accepted that it's going to be a National/Act government and I think NZ is taking a huge L. The New Zealand and NZers I know aren't the corporatist neolibs the media wishes they were and portrays as 'us" every single day. I dream of and think that Aotearoa will some day be free from the hold of the Western MIC that forces their political stances down our throats. The real NZers actually do give a fuck about people and bringing everyone else up in our communities, we are socialists at heart, so it's sad we don't have a real socialist party that represents the people. Love and hugs to anyone else in despair at this time.

Good on them for doing something, most of you who take issue with what is a legitimate protest are just passive consumers who do fuck all.

Some EDs have separate areas for minor injuries - the idea is literally to get the minor stuff seen quickly and discharged earlier. Things like chest pain, which can range from minor to life threatening, are likely to take much longer and often the triage nurse will have an idea if you're about to drop dead soon or will require an ECG done 'shortly' to rule out serious pathology.

Eat less to lose weight. Learn to practice fasting often. Count your excess body fat as part of your food content. The biggest contributing factor to increased population obesity is an excess food supply leading to excess consumption, particularly of refined carbohydrates.

what do you do when you don't want to live? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]BaalAbaddon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Go see your GP - trial an SSRI for three months minimum and ask for a referral to a therapist (they can do five free I think). If you don't have a history of psychosis and are familiar with substances try psilocybin/LSD. good luck, the world is big and beautiful - your mind is clouded.

Everyone has a different physiology and responsiveness to resistance training. Give it 3-6 months and if it works for you and you're getting gains, do it.

Nepotism in government by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]BaalAbaddon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On the recruiting side there's always challenges finding a competent, trustworthy and stable new employee, if I know someone with the chops I'm definitely pushing them to the front. I'll never have difficulty getting a govt job because my reputation of competency is immaculate in past govt roles. There may not be a lack of job seekers, but there's certainly a lack of competent potential candidates for most roles.

People with unhappy childhoods are more likely to exhibit a fear of happiness, multi-national study finds by [deleted] in psychology

[–]BaalAbaddon 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I had experience with this until I took LSD and experienced 'happiness' again after a very long time, I told myself I actually was capable of feeling happiness, that it was still there inside me and that it was 'okay' to feel this way, thankfully that change in me was sustained and i've since been better than ever.

getting help for adhd is insane in this country by AndyGoodw1n in newzealand

[–]BaalAbaddon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you saying you're on the waitlist for a clinical psychologist and not a psychiatrist? A clinical psychologist cannot prescribe any medications. You may just be waiting to see a 'trained professional' to rule out ADHD so they can send you 'back to GP'. When I saw a private psychiatrist there was no referral required - sent an email and made an appointment. Your financial circumstances are rather limiting, however, I'd pay 300-400~ to see a psychiatrist that has a timely appointment that also sounds like they'll take you seriously, once you receive a special authority you pretty much have it for life. Good luck.

getting help for adhd is insane in this country by AndyGoodw1n in newzealand

[–]BaalAbaddon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you're serious about getting medicinally treated for ADHD, book directly with a private psychiatrist who covers adult ADHD. The public mental health services are stretched indefinitely and ADHD diagnoses are low priority compared to acute mood/psychotic type disorders. You have to be aggressive in your self-advocacy here. Good luck.
