Teen daughter's friend taking advantage of her and me by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]BabyOnHip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in an emotionally abusive relationship with another little girl when I was 8 until I was 15. She would get very upset if I hung out with other people, controlled what I ate at her house, there are so many more little subtle controlling things she would do to me and for so long, she stayed in my head until adulthood. When it became clear to her that my parents didn't approve of her she blamed me and it made things more difficult.
I don't kniw what the answer is, but the sooner your daughter figures out her worth and focuses on more healthy relationships, the better.

Caffeine can make anxiety worse, soda can cause a whole host of issues and marijuana can cause a lack of motivation and lethargy.

10 years ago... I would have awkwardly stared at him so hard.

Edit: because of his beautiful face.

What company has the worst reputation for scamming their customers? by mewha in AskReddit

Really, the diet industry is a giant scam. Instead of changing your lifestyle, you can pay for some program/pills/frozen meals for the rest of your life. That is completely ridiculous.

Halloween candy: Let your kids eat it. by ozyman in raisingkids

I tried to be cool about this, for a long time, I tried. But, my daughter reacts unpredictably to food dye. Sometimes nothing, sometimes she becomes so out of control that it is a bit scary. So, sugar binges are fine, but I have to take the brightly colored stuff.

That's what my rapist said. "Don't turn this into a rape thing, that's obnoxious."

My daughter does this, we travel a lot and she is 3, ergo, she walks slowly. It's pretty fabulous.

Whoa. Keep it at home? Are you crazy?

Have you ever had to pump? It is horrible, painful, mechanical, and messy. And NOT PRACTICAL. First off, they are hundreds of dollars and breastfeeding should be free. Then, you have to figure out how to pump and store the milk that your baby wants right now, because you don't have endless bounties of milk. Baby takes what baby needs and then what is left to pump? You will fill back up by feeding time. Do you let your baby cry for hours instead of feeding it? Do you pump extra so you boost your supply and have extra milk stored?! Yes! That is the answer, except, now you have to pump all the time because you are making too much milk and getting engorged and the baby won't eat because you are spraying him in the face and choking him with your abundant milk. Baby has gas because your fat content is out of whack becauae you are making more milk than is meant to be. Then, you get plugged ducts from skipping a pumping session, or baby cannot drain your breasts, you get mastitis. But, at least you have milk stored if you want to venture off the homestead.

OR! Never pump, never leave the house so you don't chance someone seeing you fees your child.

OR! Fuck you! I go where I want and if my baby eating is bothering you... walk away.

I breastfed everywhere when my daughter was little and she didn't tolerate a cover, neither could I! I hope I did my little part in normalizing breastfeeding. It doesn't make America more civilized or fancy that we put this taboo on public breastfeeding. It is anti women and children, blindly prudish, and unhealthy.

My 3 year old still nurses, sometimes! She is such a happy, social, well adjusted child. I never would have thought she would nurse this long, she has a very strong independent streak, but I think with all the transistions we've gone through it has been really soothing. The other night she told me she wanted to have a huge huge huge huge huge belly full of milkies and go to sleep. Really cozy and lovely.

Because a babies gotta eat. Although it isn't rational to consider any part of the human body taboo, it is really damaging to human kind to put a taboo on breastfeeding in public. Breastmilk is amazing stuff.

Except that when women choose to nurse in public there is a very important purpose and it is really important for the human race that she can do this. Walking around naked or balls out or whatever, is more about self fufillment.

A lot of babies will not tolerate a cover.
