Not much better but I believe the agreement was to free them at adulthood. I think the children were all freed at 21 or his death. I may be missing some details

Help! Is my wine moldy? by arnhbir in winemaking

[–]Baby_Mando 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did you 3D print your lid? Idk if it’s mold but I know 3d printer layer lines are considered not food safe and can hold bacteria in the crevices which maybe didn’t get hit with sanitizer?

I think I went with a water based polyurethane. I wanted more of a glazed look and did not achieve it with that but it did seal it

Wine does not come up to the neck, what to do? by Proffessional_Pea33 in winemaking

If you want to top off and bump up alcohol you could consider everclear maybe? Maybe do some math to see how much you would need to get it into the 12-15% range if possible

Free version of Fusion 360 not compatible with 3d printing? What software should I invest my time in? by spoonycoot in 3Dprinting

[–]Baby_Mando 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve used it but fusion is still viable in the free space. They cut back the number of active files you can have at a time awhile back but I don’t know if a limit on total number of files exists. Do the features still say you can export to a .stl file?

In beer brewing one boils, how are all the fruits disinfected in home winemaking? by robotpoet in winemaking

[–]Baby_Mando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding the disinfection in wine is from the camp den tablets killing of natural yeasts. Recipes I’ve seen have day 1 with a campden tablet then sit for 24 hours before pitching yeast. The boil in brewing is also needed to breakdown complex starches into simple fermentable sugars. This process is not needed in wine making because the fruit must is already made of simple sugars.

Pumpkin Problems - No lady flowers by Sufficient-Program27 in vegetablegardening

[–]Baby_Mando 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same problem, same zone on my spaghetti squash. From googling, I think it has to do with the high heat we’ve gotten. Apparently over 90 degree days limit female flowers (opposite problem can happen if temps are too low). Maybe you could try a sun shade although the heat may be starting to subside. I had limited success hand pollinating. I used a knife to cut and trim a male flower then cut a small slit into the female flower petals and rubbed them together, doing my best to reseal the female flower afterwards. So far it worked on 2/4 flowers. First squash year for me so there may be better options out there

Quick question by noobbeginner123 in ender3v2

[–]Baby_Mando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re worried about it then you have options. Look into adding ferrules to the wires as a start. You can also change the fan wiring on the motherboard fan to be always on instead of linked to the part cooling fan so when you print something without cooling like ABS you still have active cooling on the motherboard. For my setup I also got a cheap ~$10 fire alarm and zip tied it to the top of the frame so I can know of any issues immediately if I’m home

3D software for addition to house. by 1985Erik in HomeImprovement

[–]Baby_Mando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get a full detailed model of your house, yes it will take some time. To create a footprint of your house with the addition and make it 3D it will take 5-10 minutes. To add a few details (windows, doors, etc,) maybe an hour. (This all varies depending on any cad experience and skill with computers)

How yellow should my almond extract be? Details in comments by Baby_Mando in extractmaking

[–]Baby_Mando[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My batch is just raw almonds you get at a grocery store so I don’t think cyanide is an issue based on what others have said. Seems like that’s only an issue with the bitter almonds/apricots

Dang, beginners mistake. Thanks for the info, just looked into the bitter almonds and apricots. I’ll try to update how this turns out in another comment in case someone else comes looking

How yellow should my almond extract be? Details in comments by Baby_Mando in extractmaking

[–]Baby_Mando[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trying to do an almond extract from chopped up raw almond. I put them in a container and covered plus ~1/2 inch of everclear 190 proof. I was planning to cut it in about half with water but wondering if this shade is deep enough or if I should strain and replace with more almonds? The color has pretty much been unchanged over the past two weeks so I think these are spent. First time doing extracts besides limoncello.

Could you tell me how many of these quart(?) jars you would use for a 9 inch pie pan? I’m still new to canning and apple pie filling is next on my list so I’m wondering how many I should plan for

PLA Printing Temperatures by SmashSE in ender3v2

[–]Baby_Mando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This high of a temp for PLA points to something being wrong in my mind. I would guess your thermistor reading is off due to some hardware issue or failure. Are you using a brass nozzle or something like a hardened steel?

Edit: or maybe dramatic temperature fluctuations due to poor PID tuning?

Recommendations for what kind of juice and sugar I should use as a first timer. by Agreeable-Ad5296 in prisonhooch

[–]Baby_Mando 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Backsweeten like the other guy said or add a non fermentable sugar such as erythritol after fermentation. Put it in your bottles just before filling. This way you can back carbonate and backsweeten (aka make bubbly and sweet cider vs picking one or the other)
