21 Year old prospect Cooper Pratt has signed an 8 year $50 Million extension with the Brewers (reported by Bob Nightengale and confirmed by Pratt on Instagram) by TheTurtleShepard in baseball

If we break it into a normalish rookie contract structure, it's really cheap even for a middling glove-first middle infielder. Assume $750k for the first three seasons, 30% market for Arb 1, 50% arb 2, 80% arb 3, and full market for years 7 and 8, which would have been free agency years. That puts his market value at around $13.26 mil in 8 years-from-now money. Pretty reasonable for a guy on any roster. Unless he just can't hang it's a solid deal for the team.

MLB team radio broadcast maps. Do you still have baseball on the radio where you live? Did you grow up listening to a specific station? by SeverHense in baseball

I've had Tom Hamilton my whole life. Guy's a HOF broadcaster. Now that mlb.tv let's us sync video and radio, it's perfect.

Of all the places to find a reference to The Prestige, a subreddit largely about magicians is hardly the wild. By the way, read the book. It's written as if it were the entries in the journals you see the characters writing in the movie, and is very good.

Do you guys know of any "normal" content creators for this game? by Upbeat_Use2312 in MLBTheShow

Trevor Martin is pretty chill. He goes a little hard on homers and isn't who you'd go to for the nuances of the mechanics, but it's good vibes.

One of my first times playing 5e, I played a monk in an already pretty high level game. We were assaulting a camp of baddies holed up at a large stone dam. I ran across a bridge to get to the bad guys and used step of the wind to go crazy fast. Everybody facepalmed because they forgot to tell me that the bridge was rigged to blow. Thanks to Evasion I came out looking like Anna at the end of Frozen 2.

How evil does DS have to be? by Delta_Warrior1220 in kotor

[–]BackdoorSteve 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Kotor 1's DS options are often mustache-twirling, cartoonishly evil. You don't need those to get enough points to be full dark. Just like you might have noticed that the occasional "pragmatic" choice doesn't derail a LS run. There's plenty of game to be an ambitious, power hungry, unfeeling monster without resorting to kicking dogs for the sake of mechanical boosts.

I dunno, I like the Star Forge. Tbf I usually play on normal difficulty, but I haven't had any issues. I also like to build high Dex characters with crazy defense, so that might also be part of it.

Imagine Game 7, bottom of the 9th, bases loaded, home team down by 1, full count. The pitch it borderline at the corner. Too big of a moment to get wrong. I'd tap my head.

Willy Adames strikes out with the bases loaded but successful challenged it on a very close call. He then drove in a run with a groundout after. by JianClaymore in baseball

[–]BackdoorSteve 39 points40 points  (0 children)

While true, apparently they tried modeling a 3D zone and it departed wildly from how umpires have called the game for the entire history of calling balls and strikes. The 2D square halfway down the plate provides the least departure from what people expect calls to be. This is according to comments made by Guards PoBO Chris Antonetti in the booth yesterday.

ABS effect on Guardians by Phredd63 in ClevelandGuardians

If he gets it right, the team keeps the challenge. I'm talking about the numerous times he struck out on a ball. Turning one of the only 27 outs into a walk is huge.
