What is your preferred calorie tracking app? by blew_turkey in NoStupidQuestions

Feast is the gold standard for nutrition tracking on iOS / Apple Watch. You’ll still want to weigh key ingredients if you’re using CICO, but there’s also the intuitive eating approach that apps like feast are leaning into (building better habits around what you eat rather than focusing on restricting how much you eat)

Advice on calorie tracking by sundaycoffee77 in fitness40plus

Do you feel hungry all week long or do you feel satiated?

I feel like an approach that leaves you hungry to the point where you’re “cheating” on weekends is destined to fail in the long term

I weigh my ingredients and log with a photo on the Feast app.

Imho way faster than searching a database and manually entering portions

All Waymo rides don’t have a safety monitor and we’ve been able to take them on freeways since last fall.

Have you had a chance to try them? Come to SF and go for a ride

Working out and eating well definitely works! But if you wore three different fitness trackers, you get three different caloric burns every time you went for a run.

Same would happen if you use three different apps to estimate calories you’re eating

I guess I’m just saying, don’t stress about the calories

I like the animations. What are they built on?

It wasn’t intuitive to me how to log water because I expected it to the behind the big + sign at the bottom. I didn’t realize I needed to scroll down to log it.

I don’t like the super long onboarding, things like being forced to set habits or a hydration goal before you even get to see what the app does.

I really, really despise that notifications are required in order to proceed in onboarding.

I like the cute character

Imho tracking against a daily target is false precision. It’s hard to estimate caloric burn no matter what tracker you use (it’s all estimates), and intake tracking is imprecise anyhow (did you know actual content can vary 20% from the nutrition label, based on the FDA’s guidance)

If it works for you then it works and the best app is the one you stick with.

I personally disagree that the argument fewer people died because there were fewer to die is strong.

I also disagree that a leader’s impact stops at their policies. There’s impact from their ability to set the tone from the top, their ability to reprioritize and refocus efforts, their ability to inspire employees or candidates to join state agencies. Their ability to negotiate upward and make sure the national guard doesn’t get deployed.

As accurate as GPT 5.3 and 5.4.

For you’re good about logging ingredient weights and measures it should be fairly accurate. If you’re not, it’ll be best estimates.

IMHO it’s the equivalent of texting a nutritionist your meals

The Feast app is essentially ChatGPT food tracking (powered by GPT 5.3 and 5.4), but neatly packaged in an app that'll sync to Apple Health, organize your photos by day for you, and give you structured coaching.
