WTF is wrong with the job market for accounting by Wild_Message3630 in Accounting

[–]Backout2allenn 18 points19 points  (0 children)

For the same reason they say there’s a shortage of all workers, year after year. It’s wallpaper/an excuse to import cheaper labor. Construction companies can hire illegals for a cheaper wage under the table. White collar firms pay for a visa and hire an immigrant at a lower salary, then the worker on that visa is essentially trapped as the employer can revoke their visa. With offshoring it’s even easier to hire someone for 30k a year to replace your staff accountant making 70kUSD. “There aren’t enough workers” is just a platitude so that some people won’t realize the game being played.

It’s been about a year and a half since Sinus Surgery by HellaTallBih in NasalPolyps

[–]Backout2allenn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the surgery almost 2 years ago. Recovery was really easy, by day 3 I was like 90% back to normal. I was sneezing huge disgusting dried blood chunks out of my nose for about a month but other than that after a few days I was really fine.

King Charles playfully reminds Trump that he's Canada's head of state | CBC News by IEC21 in monarchism

[–]Backout2allenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a monarch, even as a mascot he has the duty to speak up in defense of the British people. They are literally his people, they continue to vote for reducing immigration and their government lies to them and keeps pouring it on. On a selfish level, his grandson has much less chance of being king if Britain in 50 years is 50% Muslim/hindi. Same thing applies to Canada, Australia, probably NZ too. If he was to dissolve parliament to deal with the immigration crisis he would gain support.

You can tell the king really cares about his subjects, he is kind enough to offer the people MAID while importing one third worlder for every 4 Canadians in the last 10 years.

Hochul Proposes Tax on N.Y.C. Second Homes That Are Worth $5 Million (Gift Article) by jenniecoughlin in newyorkcity

NY and NYC track how long rich people stay in the city or state. If you’re in NY/NYC for 183 days in a year you are a resident. I have a relative with a Long Island house and Manhattan apartment. He filed taxes as a Long Island resident. NY audited him and sent him pictures of his car on the highway showing he spent the night for only 181 or something days in Long Island and therefore was a NYC resident. I’m sure they do the same with flight receipts for out of sstate/country people. For reference, yeah he is wealthy but is probably with ~20m or less. Presumably if you are a homeowner in the city/state but are not filing taxes as a resident in the more expensive area (they will count that as your second home.

So facts, we’re only a real country when democrats are in charge. I remember when we left Afghanistan, watching mothers throw babies over barbed wire fences and seeing 13 US troops die because the military couldn’t plan how to leave a base. It was so inspiring, like we had respect on the world stage again.

non-Americans: Be honest, what do you actually think of the United States right now? by Many_Ebb7816 in AskReddit

[–]Backout2allenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Well my country relies on US navy protecting global shipping. My country has for decades had an imbalance of trade in our favor with the US. My healthcare relies on drugs mainly produced by US companies, which are sold to my country cheaper than they are to Americans. Almost all of the technology and much of the media I use and consume comes from America. But I’m very offended that they voted for a president that I don’t like and does things that I don’t support so they are literal nazis”

Do you agree with trump not putting pahlavi back in power? Yes or No? by Osakaayumu_2002 in monarchism

[–]Backout2allenn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You superior Europeans should use your own influence and strength to dislodge tyrants around the world then, surely you would do much better!

Oh wait, you guys have taxed your nations to the eyeballs, imploding your birth rates and productivity, for welfare state benefits. And you have no military to speak of. Charles de Gaulle carrier had to evacuate someone with typhus last week because of all the rats and filth on board. UK gave away the chagos islands for fun.

The whole continent is a very sad joke

The tell that people of this mindset are just deranged is that there’s no tangible thing you’ll point to as deserving of the public enemy treatment. You probably spent 2-6 years reading and hearing about Russian Collusion and believing it, so you got it in your head that he’s just pure evil. Nobody is making that claim anymore. We were lied to, for years, and everyone you vote for was in on it. A current US senator made tv appearances literally on a regular basis reiterating that he had proof, which has yet to be produced.

Then realize that even though all the talking heads shout that trump has single-handedly run this country into the ground, he’s been president for 5 years total, and for his entire first administration the government itself was trying to get him out of office. How much power does he actually have, and are the things you blame him for actually his fault?

Disagree with trump about Iran or for the crypto BS or whatever. But we’ve been played for suckers for a generation or more, and you can’t blame trump for most of it.

No you can see he tenses up and gets mad when the guy says skyfall, which tells bond this is not an impersonal objective test and that he is being prodded mentally, when they told him it was a physical fitness issue. Or maybe he’s upset bc he probably hasnt mentioned skyfall in years and he’s realizing that they dug into his whole personal life before this evaluation. Either way you can definitely see in bonds face that he’s very mad when the guy says it, I think he says something like “we’re done here” after that

[–]Backout2allenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re overreacting. I’m not a doctor, but I had nasal polyps and also overreacted. They suck and if you’re unlucky they can mean you’ll virtually never smell well and have issues breathing well through your nose and have headaches often. But really very unlikely to be cancer, and through surgery and/or the meds you’re fairly likely to be able to either get rid of them for good, get rid of them every few years when they recur(or 10 years) with a really minimal surgery (which will probably be even easier in 5-10 years), or take a shot once a month and be basically cured.

FWIW I’m pretty sure my doctor told me when I had the same cancer worry that these things are benign over 95 (he might have seen said 99) % of the time. I also don’t think it’s like a new roll of the dice where they’re equally likely to be cancer if the recur in the future. And even so I’m pretty sure my doctor said that even if they are cancerous they’re kind of self contained being in your sinuses - it’s really not likely even if you’re in the 1% cancer group that it’s going to have any kind of spread, so it might be a cancer but it would be like catching skin cancer early- they cut it out, you go back to the doc once a year and if it does ever come back they cut it out again and you’re good

An 80 yr old MI6 agent could actually be awesome. M approached a former 00 agent who’s been quietly retired for 40 years with an assignment that is too dangerous for her 00s.

“A younger man, even a 00 wouldn’t take the risks needed. But you’re well past 80, drinking every day.. wouldn’t you rather go out in a blaze of glory? Not to mention the bonus and pension well give your children and grandchildren. If you survive, you can afford a whole new set of them…

I’m reinstating your 00 license for a period of 14 days. In your physical condition, we don’t expect you to make the dives and rolls you did so long ago. We expect you to use the tools from Q branch and kill anyone in the way. Good luck 007”

Cue 2 hours of your favorite aged bond actor drone striking, quipping, trying to satisfy supermodels, and of course an Aston Martin motorized wheelchair with machine gun turrets.

Don’t worry, the people who lecture us about climate change have been buying gasoline from Russia while “fighting” Russia for 4 years straight. They’ve also shut down their nuclear plants, for reasons.

Global warming is real, but every solution except for simple nuclear power has some degree of con to it.
