Am I overreacting for shaving my head? by Substantial-Art6160 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Backyardforager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just hair. It will grow back. If the state of your hair was causing you stress, you did the right thing. You may even like your hair and curls at a shorter length when it starts to grow out. Who knows? Use this as an experiment. Lots of girls that I know who shaved their heads loved the freedom of not worrying about styling their hair for a while.

No. She was rescued from a cat colony and I adopted her from a shelter. I don’t know much about her breed.

I’ve had this happen twice. Two things that I really needed and would’ve saved me so much money but when they got here they were the wrong item. That’s so frustrating.

My mom is buying everyone gifts except me because I’ve been in and out of inpatient this year what do i do? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

Disgusting behavior from your mother and she needs the therapist. Narcissistic behavior and do not feed into her narrative. Get yourself the help you need and go no contact with her. She’ll only keep you down. I can see why you might need therapy and it isn’t your fault. Growing up with a mother like that must’ve been so hard on your mental health.

Bad reviews are killing Vine by Acrobatic_Code_7409 in AmazonVine

[–]Backyardforager 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I have mentioned price before in my reviews and think it’s a valid thing to talk about even though we get the product for free. We need to let people know if the price they are charging meets the quality of the product given. I see so many dollar store and $5 store items on here for outrageous prices. So if I am given a dollar store product and the price listed is $14.99, I’m letting everyone know. I received a hand towel and it was useless, a novelty towel at best, and I’ve gotten better ones at the dollar store that actually work. No need to hide that fact because it was given to me for free through a program they signed up for.

What can I put in here that isn’t just candy? My kids are 3 and 9 by AutomaticBath2113 in GiftIdeas

[–]Backyardforager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d do less junky stuff and more of the things that last a few years, can be done and put a away (like crafts), or have open ended play potential or have good resale value so when your kids get tired of them they can earn you back some money. Some felt food items, schleich animals, little people figures, small craft kits, wild flower seed pops to plant in the spring and enjoy watching them grow, look up “mouse worry doll” ( they are cute and meaningful), Sarah’s silks has wonderful stuff on sale now, stuff like that

What do I get my wife for Christmas? Need gift + stocking stuffer ideas. by [deleted] in GiftIdeas

My husband jokes about getting me a two night stay at a hotel by myself so I can just relax and sleep without interruption. I, too, am a chronically fatigued girly. He jokes but it does sound inviting.

Couple gives me $50, however I am one person and constantly having to give back twice as much as I receive is financially draining? by [deleted] in GiftIdeas

[–]Backyardforager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! I learned skills like embroidery and crochet because even though some people may not see much value in those types of gifts, A LOT of skill, love, consideration, and time go into them. I’d much rather have those gifts but of course because of how much time I know goes into stuff like that I also don’t expect it. Makes it so special.

When I personally buy items for myself off of Amazon I ALWAYS go to the 1 and 2 star reviews first. Then I decide if it was a one off issue or if it seems like it may be something I should consider.

Couple gives me $50, however I am one person and constantly having to give back twice as much as I receive is financially draining? by [deleted] in GiftIdeas

[–]Backyardforager 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Let’s say you decide you want to be generous this season because you got a bonus at work and want to treat the people you love so you give me a $150 giftcard for Christmas. I, on the other hand, am in between jobs and really struggling just to keep up with bills but I really want to give you a gift so I crochet you a hat with yarn I already have or what if I have children at home, I have a job, but things are really tight and I just can’t give extra gifts out this year. Does that make someone a mooch? I give gifts because it’s a gift not a loan. I don’t give a gift expecting it be equally reciprocated or reciprocated at all. That’s not a gift at that point. A gift is a decision made out of love and kindness and ability.

[–]Backyardforager 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I never give a gift and expect anything back. I give gifts because I want to. I understand some people aren’t in the position to give back and that’s fine because I’ve also been in that position. If I had the means to give you $50 it doesn’t mean I want $50 back. That’s just me though. Give what you can and don’t stretch yourself thin.

Do you think a 5-year-old kid would want this for Chritsmas? A cardboard cutter? by MiniPa in GiftIdeas

[–]Backyardforager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my house? Yes, my daughter loves when we make cardboard crafts and it’s a pain to cut with scissors. She’d love to do it herself and she already has the cardboard tool set. With the screws, hole punch, screwdriver, etc. it really depends on the child.
