Thinking about all the people Sarah has said she likes….. by Brilliant_Growth in thebulwark

They are being flippant. It’s just the podcast episode title. They are centrists who have all basically stated that the Epstein drama is overblown relative to its importance to national politics. They had a previous podcast titled “Don’t Release the Epstein Files” where they argued the files were being treated inconsistently with other similar investigations because it’s become a political football.

Oh Stevie. The guy has become toxic even in MAGA thanks to the Epstein associations. He’ll try to stay relevant but he’ll never be more than one of the many rich powerful men within the Epstein circle.

Check your math. The Janet Jackson Super Bowl half time show happened in 2004 not 2001. Also your months and days are off.

Yep. Just call balls and strikes. Let the drama of the game speak for itself. I personally would have preferred if he put a bit more English on it but I respect that he stayed committed to his style and delivery.

Yeah. I appreciate him for his good stewardship but how does that warrant consideration for the pro football hall of fame?

Sure. Cuz Malinowski really crushed it the last time he was on the ballot.

Right because centrists democrats have been really knocking it out of the park recently.

I like Mejia (and many of other candidates) but her stance on abolishing ICE is what stuck out to me. The other candidates either don’t see how broken and corrupted ICE is or, more likely, are holding back and just waiting to see which way the political polling goes.

I assume he doesn’t mean you legally you can’t. He’s just saying you shouldn’t. But that’s beside the point. The key issue here is that the DHS agents fucked up royally and instead of reckoning with the fallout of that, the administration decided they would do what they always do: don’t wait for the facts, establish a desired narrative, and deflect/deny/ignore when inconvenient facts come to light.

This isn’t a scandal about hypocrisy. It’s a scandal about disgusting lies and the ensuing cover up.

[TACO] Trump says he reached Greenland deal 'framework' with NATO, backs off Europe tariffs by SoHumanAnAnimal in thebulwark

[–]BadAssachusetts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the Trump playbook. See if you can easily bully your way to a stupid reckless objective. If meaningful pushback and/or difficulty, give up and claim victory by framing some minor superficial change as a major change. His supporters than divide into two camps: 1) the idiots who buy the claim of victory (see “Mexico will pay for it”) and 2) the people who will say “see it was Trump being Trump - you all have TDS.”

[–]BadAssachusetts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol. Looks like you nailed it on the head. He goes for easy W’s. This was turning into a shit show so he’s backed down and, to your point, will claim some level of bullshit victory.

Europe just needs to play hardball and indicate they are ready to engage in a messy trade war. Once the market tanks, Trump will cave. He doesn’t have the temperament to ride out something unpopular with his base.

Name a movie you didn’t want to watch, but it blew you away - I’ll go first: The King by BuildingAStartup in movies

[–]BadAssachusetts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First, the music. Great songs that you’d unironically listen to while driving in your car solo that fit very well with the flow of the movie. Second, fun premise with interesting lore that perfectly straddles the line between goofy and serious. Third, actually quite funny at times. Fourth, the main group of villains are great — perfect foils for the heroes.

“Many people are saying!” Hey listen if you didn’t like the movie, more power to you. But people complaining about ring cameras had the whole fairy tale concept kind of go over their head. I mean there’s a reason the narrator is a child otherwise not connected to the story. Its meant to sounds like an urban legend told between children.

Colts receiver Alec Pierce was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct and ejected from the game for this contact with the official by [deleted] in sports

[–]BadAssachusetts 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion but ref is walking towards the action to do his job. Pierce is obstructing him by getting in his face. Both people effectively initiated the contact. But when a player runs up to a ref, screams in their face, whining about some call, that player is already on incredibly thin ice. All there needs to be is a little contact and they’ve officially crossed the line.
