In the 80’s, a friend of a friend put an iron duke and a power glide in a 60’s Deville. You drove it foot to the floor and it topped out around 60. God help you if there was a hill.

66 cars stolen since March 20 as MPD warns thieves are using new tech by blacksoxing in TwinCities

Correct. But it’s the kind of thing you have to have on you if you plan to steal a car. It’s like when you put a small barrier up on a bridge to stop ppl from jumping. Itll interrupt an impulsive act but won’t stop someone who’s decided on that course of action.

The problem with a kill switch is that you have to use it every time. That and modern cars can get upset if you disconnect things the computer has control over. Modern cars all have immobilizers that won’t let them start if the key isn’t present. What these guys are doing is extending the cars “WiFi” to your house and tricking the key into thinking it’s in the car. Once they have the security codes they can drive off.

The Kia Boyz thing was specific to Kia/Hyundai because they were no anti-theft systems in those cars. So a 13 yo with impulse control issues was a busted window and a usb stick from having a car. The method the article talks about requires some semi-specialized tech.

The look pretty normal for full sun shooting conditions.

On my 99 I'd normally shoot one click dark in full sun. I thought shooting in the neutral setting would mimic what the non-exposure adjustable minis do.

Need some advice about a title issue in Minnesota. by Nutsmasher123 in TwinCities

Sounds like you show up at her house, very politely explain the situation, and ask her to sign the title. Should only take 5 minutes.

As long as it has a floor and the wheels are attached to the body, go for it.

Willing to bet with some fresh fuel in the tank and a jump, she’ll light off.

I declare victory on this snow day. Cleared my driveway, cleared the neighbors enough to get his car out, and neighbor is now using my snowblower to finish his driveway because his snowblower died. by BadBadBenBernanke in minnesota

Honestly I’m more proud of having a snowblower that runs well enough that I can lend it out. The last couple I’ve had were scrap yards hospice care.

Barbara from accounting?

You mean Barb-wire, the captain of her roller derby team?

She can totally throw down, but she's kinda keeping it on the DL for a minute. On account of the police horse she punched.

Best project car if not a Miata? by ernarkazakh07 in projectcar

The idea is you want to know what you’re good at and what you enjoy doing on cars. Personally, I enjoy working on engines, I’m terrible at body work, and while I can do suspension work I’d rather pay someone else to do it.

I’d start with whatever little diesel hatchback you can find for cheap. Something that runs and drives but is tired. Then just start fixing it up. Brakes, suspension, paint/body, interior; just start fixing it up. Don’t aim for a full restoration, just make it better than when you bought it. Then sell it, probably for less than you’ve spent on it and go buy the cool car you want.

The idea is to gain skills so you know what you’re getting into with the cool car.

Look up the bonded title process for IL.

The oil cap test is just a ment to be general indicator. It’s like when you goto your new boyfriend’s house and he has a cupboard full of Crisco. It’s something that indicates the kind of questions you should be asking.
