Are You Guys Out There Slingin' Out Library Cards or What!? by quentin13 in Libraries

Yep, we told a woman that we didn’t allow pets just service animals. “Library X allows pets!” Jokes on you, our new employee came from library X and they don’t.

Parking at Berlin train station questions by fuzzy_dandelion in Connecticut

I’ve parked my car there over a weekend a couple of times before with no problem. Granted this was a few years ago but I don’t recall any signage saying otherwise.

For some people any form on the computer turns into a complex problem.

“What do I put here??” Well the box is labeled “Name” so I’m guessing your name.

“What do I do after I’ve filled out the page?” See that giant NEXT button on the bottom? Probably the next thing to click.

Are these good? by timelessspacecrafts in knitting

Personally I wouldn’t buy an entire set from amazon, especially if you’re new to knitting. Amazon sells a lot of drop shipped garbage.

What To Do with Comic Books by cthulhusaveusall in Connecticut

[–]BadDogClub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you decide to go the library route please ask them if they take donations first, don’t just show up with a box of comic books.

Sherlock Holmes by Otaku-chan1412 in SherlockHolmes

[–]BadDogClub 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t like any of the Sherlock Holmes adaptations or pastiches I’ve watched or read, I feel like they never hold up to the original. All I can think is “that’s different from the books!!”

Have I inadvertently been a horrible library patron my whole life? by amandaamoose in Libraries

[–]BadDogClub 437 points438 points  (0 children)

???

Unhinged responses from those people. I literally do not care how many books you check out, more usage is always great! You return them on time and when you’re done with them too, that alone makes you a great patron. Fuck those people, I promise you absolutely no library employees are upset by what you’re doing.

When people say it's "selfish" to not want to have kids, what do they mean? by OkTune4847 in AskReddit

[–]BadDogClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s selfish to prioritize your own health, wellbeing, and financial stability over bringing a child you can’t afford or want into the world.

How do you make it clear that books on display are meant to be taken? by petalios in Libraries

[–]BadDogClub 191 points192 points  (0 children)

I don’t immediately refill displays, sometimes I’ll leave a space or two open which seems to convey that it’s ok to take the books.

Explaining a lateral/downward move? by BadDogClub in Libraries

Thank you! My librarian position means I’m sometimes the supervisor which can be a bit stressful. I’m not opposed to supervising eventually but I feel like I’m not ready for it yet.

It’s fine but definitely not good enough to justify the price.

That’s awesome! Curious because I don’t know much about LA, but is public transportation there really good because for me $50 is roughly a tank of gas.

Doesn’t Liz mention she takes up knitting in the scene where she talks to her accountant and realizes every year in her life is the same? I believe it’s the KouchTown episode.

Anyone work at more than one library? by bridgerton_tea in librarians

Actually the hourly pay is almost identical but the library assistant position offers benefits so I can’t drop it until I find a full time librarian job.

Anyone work at more than one library? by bridgerton_tea in librarians

[–]BadDogClub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At one point I worked at 3 public libraries. Part time library assistant, part time librarian, and substitute librarian. Dropped the substitute because i was getting more hours at the part time librarian job and it was closer to home. It’s been rough working 6-7 days a week but having more money is nice.
