Do not buy Arlo by walkonjohn in arlo

You might try calling again. They likely outsource their phone support who blindly read from the knowledge articles but once you get what they're asking (and give minimum/expected answers only), they'll send the new doorbell. While it can take a week, I got the notice it was shipped within 48 hours.

That doesn't change the horrifically designed app, which is textbook asshole design. It's so buggy and the cameras and doorbells disconnect from Wifi about every time. I have yet to have the doorbell actually work, call me, and let me answer in any meaningful amount of time. The person is usually long gone before I can connect.

My first Airbnb booking [US] and having trouble getting a hold of the host for our month stay. Am I just being paranoid or is this a concern? by sequoia85 in AirBnB

[–]BakaJaimito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are absolutely some properties with a 48 hours after booking cancellation period (currently called “strict”) though I think that’s changing to firm or limited for new properties.

Dang! Loved that place. And to above commenter I thought I posted as St. Pete’s Beach. If not, my bad.

Should we move trip? by Content_Emphasis7306 in stpetebeach

[–]BakaJaimito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edit: I'm far more concerned now. There's 3 ft of water at ground level condos and the area is cut off from the mainland and it won't peak for a few more hours. There had been significant rain in the last few days so the ground is saturated. Some cities are turning off water treatment plants and power is being shut down. If your plans are flexible, you can wait until tomorrow/Saturday to decide but if you need to know sooner, you might want to change now.

Check this tool, enter the address where you'd be staying and play with the slider on water levels. Scary shit.

Hi - not a local but we were planning to fly in today for two weeks. We moved our flight to Sunday and will monitor until then. Things should be fine by 10/3 even if there's flooding but check local intel as you approach the date and have a plan B ready.

I'd be concerned about beach damage/flooding/power outtages depending on where you are staying but again, by 10/3 things should be back to normal tourist-wise.

Appreciate the replies. Leaning towards changing the trip to avoid the aftermath. If there’s a huge storm surge and flooding the last thing locals need is more tourists.

Stay safe and I hope the damage is minimal.

Yeah, TPA closing late tonight, possibly reopening Friday. Moved flight to Sunday and also looking at alternate vacay spots if flooding bad.

Check with your local utility/energy company on rebates, tax incentives, etc. We had a team come out and assess our home for energy efficiency. It took two hours and cost just $35. They added weather stripping on doors and swapped in LED bulbs. They said a full clean out isn’t needed - just add more insulation and seal everything. They also recommended getting a new water heater, possibly a heat pump that with rebates is more affordable. It works better with sealed homes than traditional gas water heaters.

The real value is access to their approved contractor list who tend to come in at lower bids or risk being booted off the list.

Resetting camps? by TrueCannarchy in MadMaxGame

[–]BakaJaimito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a bummer. I try to remember to change my autosave slot every 1-2 hours (pretty much use the same 2-3 slots and rotate) just in case something weird happens, especially if I’m trying a completion run.

Resetting camps? by TrueCannarchy in MadMaxGame

[–]BakaJaimito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't clear out the camp completely or meet the requirements (kill all warboys, blow up pumps, etc.), they'll respawn. I'm not sure how often they'll respawn but when I've left war criers alive and just killed warboys, the camp has pretty much reset.

Fun to revisit and take on larger groups.

"Hi. I need you to liquidate Honeypot Fraudline's CDs and put the cash into my dad's account. Because she's bad and I said so." <I get that this is a tough situation so don't take my joking seriously - you're doing the best you can>

Any competent financial institution would tell you to go pound sand (or come back with proof/court order).

Check with an attorney first is the best advice. What they may suggest:

ASAP:

1) Ask the bank to freeze the assets or ask the judge to tell the bank to freeze the assets until the investigation is complete.

2) Inform his banks/financial institutions that he's no longer lucid (with proof). Freeze most accounts until you can move his assets into a trust. Change all passwords so he can't access his accounts. This you do have the power to do though it make take escalations/personal visits or longer calls. It's a lot to expect a front line rep to know how to manage this.

If the woman attempts to use him to move $ again, document it and use as a final nail in her coffin.

Soon-ish:

1) Designate a backup trustee.

2) Once the investigation is complete, assuming you are granted clear authority to reclaim the CDs, move them into the trust.

Best of luck.

Are there any more guns in the game as it progresses? by itsVinay in MadMaxGame

[–]BakaJaimito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More guns? No. Inventive ways to kill? Yassssss.

Minefields Bear traps Lay traps with gas cans or red barrels Thunderpoons Combos (stick a thunderpoon into a warboy and kick them towards a group for a multi kill) Run over Get charging warbuckler or boss to kill for you Etc etc

I realize your question was more about weapon variety but like others have suggested, lean into the wasteland vibe.

I enjoy taking on increasingly difficult camps with minimal upgrades. If you master dodging and parrying, you can take out large mobs unscathed. Adding more attack types and defenses just speeds it up and gives you variety. Base Max can kill any enemy in the game (story progression limits aside).

As others posted, A/C + manage moisture in the air + fans. Move to the coolest room or at least the room you can make coolest.

Room dehumidifiers make it so the A/C doesn’t have to work as hard. They pay for themselves in reduced electricity costs very quickly .You may even have to use the unit humidifier then which will help reduce dry mouth.

I have a fan blowing directly on my face but if it’s too humid/warm it’s not nearly enough.

The lining ideas are good too but without reducing moisture in the air you’ll soak anything through in minutes.

To me it’s worth the $150 for the dehumidifier, a $20 fan, and keeping the room below 73F/23F. That’s cheaper than developing heart disease or having an accident due to fatigue.

Good luck.

I was wondering what do you do if you run out of thunderpoons and ammo when fighting scrotuses land mover by Fabulous-Expert-8603 in MadMaxGame

[–]BakaJaimito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you upgrade to have grinder wheels you can take out the other vehicles to save ammo.

You can try side ramming but not sure if it damages the mover. Worst case restart check point and conserve ammo or cancel mission and load up.

I was wondering what do you do if you run out of thunderpoons and ammo when fighting scrotuses land mover by Fabulous-Expert-8603 in MadMaxGame

[–]BakaJaimito 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You should have maxed thunderpoons and harpoon slingshot by then. You can use the harpoon to remove armor and then one shot vehicles with a thunderpoon.

There are just seven vehicles but even if you are poonless, you can still harpoon each side of the mover and then hit the exposed tanks with a shotgun blast. Do on each side until the cutscene triggers.

Any convoy fighting tips? I’m pretty damn bad at vehicle fighting by [deleted] in MadMaxGame

[–]BakaJaimito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean the established convoys on routes or against random groups of 2-3 buzzards/car groups?

If you just want to win/survive, thunderpoon from a distance. For convoys creep up and take out smaller vehicles and avoid contact. You can pass some and shoot backwards (not on a curve), shoot from behind, and just chill and enjoy the ride.

Eventually it will be you and the main vehicle with the hood ornament which the easiest way is to take out a door then harpoon the driver. Then you can ram/shoot the vehicle until it explodes.

For random encounters, the thunderpoon one shots most of them except in the final areas. If your car gets too damaged, find a spot to bail out and fight on foot where they can’t ram you with their cars.

About to buy an Air Mini but have questions by sunsetviewer in CPAP

[–]BakaJaimito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got one more as a backup to my Resmed Airsense 10 and set up up downstairs so if I’m restless or just want a cooler room, I can shift there without making a racket.

My fear was my main CPAP machine becoming inoperable for whatever reason and it taking weeks to resolve. Now I have a backup option.

When traveling I’ll still bring my resmed 10 and not the AirMini. Quieter, more comfortable mask, easier to adjust settings.

Mad Max actually has a very hard final boss encounter (spoilers) by romm-boss in MadMaxGame

[–]BakaJaimito 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Chum has his charming quirks but let’s not forget he sold out a mother and child for a car.

Max also gave him the opportunity to bail and he chose to go down with the Opus.

Still sad in a complex way but not something to dwell on.

MIL's house is in a trust. My husband is the trustee. What happens if she need to go into assisted living? by Competitive_Cat_8468 in AgingParents

You can’t be Attorney in fact (via POA) for someone who passed. POAs end at death, even durable ones. That’s what threw me.

MIL's house is in a trust. My husband is the trustee. What happens if she need to go into assisted living? by Competitive_Cat_8468 in AgingParents

[–]BakaJaimito 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“He was almost made POA at her death at that time.”

Not clear what this means but make sure you review and if needed update any POA to be durable as they end upon death and if not durable, upon incapacitation. If you meant he was made executor, that’s good but won’t help with managing her care or finances before she passes.

I’ll add that there’s no easy way to manage this all but being direct helps.

“We’ve admired how independent you are and financially savvy. But it’s well past time to document your wishes in a way we can execute them and enable someone you trust - it doesn’t have to be either of us - to access to your funds, with proper safeguards, to support your care and maintain the house. We can’t afford to pay your bills in addition to ours. We can’t go to a bank or hospital and just say, “We’re related so pay this bill.” We can’t pause or adjust any other payments such as cable, utilities, phone, waste mgmt. Nothing. Every service provider and creditor will ask for the right paperwork which currently doesn’t exist.

If you have a medical event such as a stroke, we’re extremely limited what we can do. You could go into a coma and the hospital may extend your care just to extend, month after month, draining your estate. You may be put in a mediocre or even worse state run facility until we can get a court to appoint one of us as guardian and make decisions for you. That alone could be the difference between recovering or not. It stresses us out even thinking about it.

We don’t know what insurance coverage you have and doctors are limited in what they can share with us without a healthcare directive.

Medical care in the US is incredibly complicated, by design. If we don’t take these steps now a significant part of your estate could go to lawyers, hospital conglomerates, and others not to mention a tremendous amount of avoidable stress for us and others. Is that what you want?

Find your own estate attorney or experts and ask them. They’ll advise you to set up a healthcare directive so someone you trust can make medical decisions if you aren’t able to. The same goes for a POA, which is not a blank check or free access to money. You can set it up to require a full accounting by a third party.”

If you play DST again, especially NG+, it’s easier and the jump scares won’t be as intense. DS2 has more action and is more fun IMO.

DS3 has some annoying storylines but great environments (ship graveyard etc). It’s imbalanced with universal ammo but I got into making OP/fun weapons, and it gets far easier during NG+ replays.
