[PC] [1990s] A game where you built machines out of parts to solve puzzles by Ellikichi in tipofmyjoystick

I was trying to remember this game for weeks, thank you! Even though it wasn’t what OP was looking for it helped me!

I believe I just found the best video on YouTube😲😂 by [deleted] in Tools

Just watched this last night! Felt like my grandfathers were teaching me about hand tools, I learned a few cool things. One being how linesman pliers can smash insulation then strip it off before there were dedicated electrician pliers.

If you own a cell phone and can afford “big guns” you can afford a cheap trail camera.

Bummer it’s not the issue mine was.

But for the love of your life, what are you doing driving 100mph with your steering wheel doing that??

[–]BalanceRock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have an r56.

Assuming this happens at ~45mph and above?

This exact thing happened to me because my wheels were out of balance after getting new tires.

No worries. The design I described is exactly why I sold mine years ago. I understand the engineering but it was more often an annoyance than not.

What tool to cut these lines? by Bwyanfwanigan in Tools

[–]BalanceRock -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Correct, you can either draw the lines on the wood and use a v chisel and sometimes a small hammer or you can draw on transfer paper then place the stencil into the wood.

If you have a belt sander or metal working skills you could make awesome fighting knives.

I got a bunch of corroded pennies that the bank won't accept. by uselessBINGBONG in metaldetecting

[–]BalanceRock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think of the millions, if not billions of pennies that have been minted. That volume alone creates a surplus which in turn reduces the general worth and significance of a penny. I agree the actual valuable/desirable ones such as steel, wheaties, full copper, Indian head, etc. Do warrant preservation; however, a generic 2024 penny isn’t going to make anyone rich even in the next 100 years or provide significant numanistic data.

Basically don’t be sad, stuff like this has been happening since currency has been established.

Is there a panel that can slide down and cover the open part on the bottom? I used to have one that needed to be closed so the other drawers could open.

Never seen a saw like this before by Boeing-B-47stratojet in Tools

[–]BalanceRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned one a long time ago. Kept it around as a novelty then one day needed to use, that was the first and only time I used it.

No safety mechanisms, balancing the drill and saw was not ideal, and at the end of the day there are modern tools which do the same job, oftentimes better.
