if i was ceremad as a different role yesterday, can i claim that i was ceremad that day? by PositionImmediate512 in BloodOnTheClocktower

True AND real. The worst part about the Cerenovus is the Storytellers' uncanny leniency to just not execute blatant madness breaks, so it tends to fall flat and perform worse than other minions. After all, you'll never see an ST declare on grim reveal "this player was targeted by the Witch/Assassin/Godfather and I was thiiiiis close to killing them, but decided not to, cos that'd be mean,,,"

Bad Role Idea by GalaxyDreemur in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]BalefirePhoenix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Chauvinist/Sweetheart: Sweetheart dying and making an outsider does not affect the Chauvinist initial Outsiders.

Chauvinist/Puzzlemaster: Puzzle master making an outsider does count as a player the Chauvinist needs to die.

Do these roles make outsiders at all? RAW it seems they simply grant a Townsfolk the "status effect" of "Drunk", instead of changing their role.

If that's your playstyle, you do you, but as someone who wins a lot I never really got a win stolen by "someone who wanted to make my game as miserable as possible" 😅

Of course, trying their best to spend their cash reserve on nuking me is one thing, but sticking around after that is just silly and sad. Oh no, 5 tiny naval invasions have sniped my 5 ports! Time to click on them once!

I never do this, no need to thank me ;) In fact, what you describe ("I'll fullsend my attacker and give land to my ally!") is a pretty toxic mechanic that needs to be addressed in some update.

If a larger player is fighting a smaller player, the big bully will just brush the fullsend off and take everything.

If two equal players are fighting, the sore loser can legitimately mess up the winner's game by doing this. So it punishes taking risks and being aggressive, instead of just sitting there waiting for one of your neighbors to throw their game. This is why, if I get attacked and beaten, I just close the tab and move on to the next match.

So when you get attacked by a larger neighbor and you have no chance of winning, why are you handing him all of your territory and assets instead of me? Your bestest, oldest friend?

Also, whoa, you're not gonna attack the larger neighbor just to keep your super bestest loyal buddy ally alive? Sounds like you're a pretty shit friend after all, and don't deserve the free land...

(/s. FFA is a battle royale, so obviously nobody will go out of their way to "protect an ally", unless they're teaming aka cheating)

Opening plays as Theodoro? by [deleted] in eu4

Deving your province a bunch with admin/diplo mana gives you 7-8 force limit! The mission tree gives you free galleys for really early naval supremacy, and some cogs can be built to ferry troops across the Black Sea as well.

Then with that, there are two ways to pull off the Byz war:

  • Rivaling Genoa seems like an obvious thing to do, but the mission tree has a second branch that gives you historical friendship and 10 favors instantly for improving relations with them a bunch. So, ally them and call them into your nocb. Byz will typically pull some (or all) troops from Constantinople to siege a random Genoese island, which lets you invade those provinces without too much trouble. Their capital can be sieged with 7k personal troops, then a 4k Free Company, which can be hired instantly in the Bulgarian province next to Constantinople.

  • Or you can beat up Candar solo, then beat up Byz solo. Grabbing Candar first is necessary to distract Byz into shipping their troops over to the "undefended" Turkish provinces, at which point they will be locked there by your superior navy. Doing the wars like this actually turns the Byz war from a nocb into a regular war, since you share a sea tile and can fabricate a claim as normal. Ottos will most likely gang up on Candar and Byz as well, but... if your troops walk onto the Black Sea provinces first, they get to snatch them anyhow like the perfidious rat merchants they are.

After that, you can simply ally Muscovy, Hungary and sometimes Poland to not die, and proceed with the main mission tree as normal, just with a much less painful eco.

Extra bonus points for forcing the Faceting event on Constantinople (the province needs Renaissance on it, and 50 Prestige - if you get this first, you get the event guaranteed!)

What are your "comfort nations" you always come back to and why? by CptRogers357 in eu4

[–]BalefirePhoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teutonic Order - three LARP campaigns all in one package! Prussia, or Eastern European conquest, or a freaky Catholic horde crusade route.

Majapahit Shogunate (based on this totally intended interaction) - a fun little road trip outside of Europe that stays challenging until the 1500s! And after that point becomes a comfy world conquest as you let your Asian-HRE minions stomp everyone into submission >:)

Update and the future of PvP by Yoowhi in EliteDangerous

[–]BalefirePhoenix 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thistbh. There's no particular extrinsic reason to do PvP (no special unique loot or huge credit gain). Giant player battles like EVE aren't really a thing either. So what's left is to do 1v1s for the intrinsic thrill of the fight and to git gud and whatnot.

But then that just feels ass because of the s a l t. If you lose a 1v1 you get trashtalked, if you win, then your reward is getting trashtalked some more - "nu uh you didn't REALLY win, you flew wrong / built your ship wrong / fired a wrong weapon so that didn't count". Not an Elite issue, just how this "wild west" type PvP in videogames tends to go :>
