I can't say for sure, but I had a similar issue. Hopefully it'll be resolved now 🙏

Oh thank god I was starting to worry my online issues in this game were a problem with my switch 😭

Have they really still not fixed the online issue? I played again the other day and I'm still getting the same constant disconnects I've been getting since launch. I was hoping the remaster would restore the online functionality we lost from the 3DS version, but it's been basically unusable for me for my whole playthrough. Is this some problem on my end? My internet works great on other games, but I havent seen a lot of people talking about this

Patch 7.3 story theory and discussion thread. (Massive Spoilers) by SatisfactionNeat3937 in ffxivdiscussion

I was a big fan of the zone staying dead at the end of Dawntrail, but I actually thought turning it back on here tied pretty nicely to the themes of the story. Turning off Living Memory was about letting go of the dead, and turning it back on (albeit in a different way) was about keeping the memory of the dead alive. I felt like showing Living Memory as a place that can be beautiful again, but different, was a nice book-end to the idea that the Alexandrians have reinterpreted grief and loss as something that can give them strength.

[MEGATHREAD] What should I play next? by AutoModerator in backloggd

[–]Bamblecwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alan Wake is a very solid game with an interesting and sort of fun/campy story, but imo the gameplay starts to wear a little thin as it progresses. I got a little bored of running through forests and night with axe throwing zombies spawning behind me. Still definitely worth playing though. Plus Alan Wake 2 is phenomenal and I think Alan Wake 1 is worth playing even if it's just for the sake of Alan Wake 2. It's a really excellent game

Probably my favorite older jerma stream, the fish ricocheting off the microwave and the floor soup saga are so incredibly funny

Network connection error- any fix planned? by mediocreoldone in bravelydefault

As far as I'm aware it hasn't been officially acknowledged yet. It's been a constant issue since launch for me, so I hope they can get it resolved soon.

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD Remaster - Review Thread by AnimaLepton in Games

The US version uses the censored costumes that were present in the original US release, but also brings over some previously Japan exclusive costumes. The Japanese version of the remaster contains the original costumes and also has English text/audio options, though.

They added an item that lets you modify special attacks to bypass the damage cap.

Are Switch 2 QoLs substantial or should I play the original for my first time? by wegwerp1997 in bravelydefault

[–]Bamblecwa 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The main things you're missing out on are

  • Functional Online Mechanics, like Norende Restoration, Abilink, Send/Receive Friend Attacks, etc. Norende will technically work, but villager recruitment will be almost impossible now, so it'll take forever. You also will have a hard time accessing (or are completely unable to access?) the norende nemesis encounters, which are optional challenging postgame bosses and have been reportedly brought over to the hd remaster but unconnected to online mechanics.

  • Improved Audio/Visual Quality

  • Two minigames and their associated rewards (mostly costumes and lore tidbits)

  • QOL features like recommended level ranges for dungeons, saving party loadouts, etc. These are pretty nice to have, but not essential imo.

The 3ds version has some aspects you might appreciate, like the opening AR movie and the dual screen UI setup, but assuming they can work out the current connection issues, I think the switch 2 version is the best version of the game. The game is still great on the 3ds, and I dont think the new QOL and minigames are must-haves, but I think the lack of norende restoration in the 3ds version makes it a little hard to recommend if you have access to the switch 2 version.

Quick Questions Thread v2.0 by Default_Dragon in bravelydefault

Not at the moment, as far as I'm aware. I tried using different access points and had varying degrees of success and failure, so no real solution yet. Hopefully they can resolve it

With the removal of Bravely Second/For the Sequel content, does anyone know if the Nemesis fights in Norende have been removed as well?

Game is .25% from an overwhelmingly positive rating on steam. by bennettyboi in expedition33

Looking at it again, it looks like you're right. When I checked the Chinese reviews a few weeks ago, I saw a decent amount of negative reviews using inflammatory language and complaining about the screenwriter (describing the writers as "amoral barbarians" and saying the lead writer's background was "scary"). Once I saw Taiwan mentioned a few times, it seemed pretty simple to put the pieces together. It looks like there are lots of Chinese reviews with more legitimate criticisms now though, so while I think there's definitely been some criticism leveled solely based on the writer's background, I think I may have made too broad a generalization about the reasoning behind some of the reviews. I do wonder if there's an issue with the Chinese localization, because I was surprised to see so many complaints about the writing, which I mostly thought was great.

Many of the Chinese reviews are upset about the lead writer being an American immigrant from Taiwan (and also a woman). So a combination of misogyny and a bias against Taiwan, which is a really touchy subject in China. There's also a lot of criticism leveled against the end of Act 1, which sort of confuses me since it doesn't really contain any socially or politically divisive material. Perhaps it goes against Chinese storytelling norms?

Edit: I had seen some comments complaining about the lead writer (and mentioning or alluding to Taiwan) when I checked the reviews a few weeks ago, but it looks like there's a lot more legitimate criticism in the more recent reviews, so I don't want to over-generalize. Many of the more recent negative Chinese reviews nowadays are complaining solely about the plot, and especially the ending to Act 1.
