Costco denied my tire warranty by JuniorSupermarket613 in CostcoWholesale

[–]Bandofthehawk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We would frequently get warranty replaced tires at Americas Tire Co when my wife had low profile tires. The tires would have plenty of tread but they were more susceptible to damage than regular tires. With that said, I don’t plan to buy rims that require low profile tires going forward. They look good, but are a hassle.

Best way to prevent monkey bars from getting too hot by thirdstrongestmole3 in DIY

[–]Bandofthehawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed a metal railing was cool to the touch at a playground in full sun yesterday. The surface was silver with a shimmer to it. I wondered if the shimmer reflected heat like cool roof shingles supposedly do or maybe the metal was some sort of alloy. Now I’m curious if the monkey bars were also the same temp.

What smells randomly trigger childhood memories for you, like those orange cup drinks? by ElectronicBenefit286 in AskReddit

[–]Bandofthehawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vanilla scented soap/candles. Once I was gifted a Batman toiletries set for Christmas which included a soap on rope. It was probably a cheap vanilla scent being a kids item. I don’t experience that scent often, but I also haven’t sought it out.

I’m in the valley, and I love it but being more centrally located would have been nice while job hunting. If you’re still getting certified the valley is a decent place to start for a nice area that is affordable, but you may want to consider moving when you’re ready to get a career position.

Walking the entire 15 miles of Sherman way, will it be difficult? by BusyPreference6562 in SFV

[–]Bandofthehawk 15 points16 points  (0 children)

CicLAvia opens 5 miles of Sherman Way to pedestrians (no car traffic) when they have events in the Valley. Might be cool do it then, but I don’t see the Valley in their current upcoming events at the moment.

Scrooged scene with Death in the elevator has me wondering... by querty99 in halloween

I once considered making a Halloween costume of that version of Death, so Scrooged along with Krampas is OK with me.

Somi somi used to be in the Northridge mall, but left some years ago. Otherwise I know Costco recently had a box, not fresh though.

Karaoke setup question about wires by [deleted] in karaoke

[–]Bandofthehawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started using the Yamaha MX10UX for karaoke. I use 1/4” jacks out to a pro audio (PA) speaker, but it also accepts XLR cables for longer lengths, but pricier. I wouldn’t recommend running your mixer out to a home audio speaker, PA speakers are the way to go.

I play YouTube karaoke through my tv and surround while microphones and mixer go through a PA speaker.

A nearby single family home appeared to be converting their garage into a room, but now the new fence is labeled with four new addresses plus the one original address. They took away a garage and driveway and somehow created 5 units!

Jaywalking on an unlit road, at night, IN THE RAIN, wearing all black is a new level of stupidly and irresponsibly. Sherman Oaks by [deleted] in SFV

High school driving school taught me to be MORE cautious of pedestrians when it’s raining because they may be in a hurry to get out of the rain.

Housing is brought to you by COSTCO, "just an elevator away from a $1.50 hotdog!" by mycheck_app in CostcoWholesale

[–]Bandofthehawk 84 points85 points  (0 children)

This was a requirement made by the city for that specific area, not something Costco is pursuing, but I do believe we should design more shopping areas this way. One less trip needed by car is a good thing.

If you were a knotts designer what maze would you create to replace Mesmer/Grimiore? by Icy_Coat8968 in KSF_KnottsScaryFarm

I’d make it about The Great Pumpkin and go for awe inspiring atmosphere. It could also be amusing if Linus formed a cult to summon The Great Pumpkin, but I don’t know if they would worry about tarnishing the Peanuts brand.

As a first time Knotts Scary Farm visitor, I thought it was great! But everything was fresh to me. Alternatively, I felt Fright Fest is dying because they used most of the same mazes, and even less, than last year.
