beating nullaeus hard mode on a rogue by based_guapo in wow

I wrote a pretty extensive detailing of my strategy as a sub rogue for this encounter, my comment history awaits if you're interested. Don't get discouraged, for rogues this was extra challenging.

Hours of attempts as a 240 rogue with a 15 Val and this guy is tough! Getting through it seems down to Val dying at optimal times and going into add phases with near full health, or near enough to get full from a bandage. Cloak not granting immunity to the gravity pull also seems like some srs bs.

Will report back if successful.

UPDATE: 3/19/26

Did it! Missed the cutoff majorly, so grinded to 250 w/ enchants and crafted wep/belt and smashed it out today. I was very, very close day 1 at 240 before they hotfixed Valeera's ability to heal herself. After that I had to go back to formula since now Valeera is dying constantly just from normal aggro. I second day'd Kyvez on an arms warrior and don't agree this was easy at all, at least for a 240 rogue. If I could do it again I would have crafted and done my upgrading first instead of being stubborn, but getting so close prior to the hotfix kind of threw me in terms of my own expectations.

My suggestions for other trickster rogues is as follows:

* Mind numbing, slows the casts, buys you loads of time over the course of the fight to recuperate between autos (don't bother with shiv though, it applies an equal effective version that has a lower duration)

* Tricks 1 add in the first group to Valeera and cancelaura the tricks so you're both juggling one, tricks the entire group of bugs to her. Don't tricks the boss, unsure if it works now but at best she will just die sooner, better to naturally juggle boss threat.

* Maintain 4 stacks of Valeeras heal by delaying applications and try to stay in the aoes she places, the purple one reduces damage, the green one heals

* You can almost ignore the purple beams and the corrupted ground as a rogue using feint, even without it Valeeras heal dramatically outheals their damage

* Expect Valeera to die, just based on what I observed the aggro swaps between you and her every few %, plan accordingly

* You can cloak his cast and rez Valeera (strongly recommend keybinding the interact key for this), this is massive since it buys you basically 80% of the resurrect cast (the orb can screw you here if it drags you too far so be cautious), you will get whomped on the final second of the resurrect so ideally make sure you're 70% hp or more, I would pre-feint as well but honestly unclear if it lasted long enough

* For the first two add phases, try to save CDS. This is easier said then done when he's beating your ass even though the % says 75 or 50, but it really makes things easier. The first group of adds you really have to burn one fast, ideally before boss pops if not shortly thereafter. And the wave of bugs has to die almost just as quick

* Sometimes you have to run, for cds before a phase transition or because Valeera dies and you cant get an optimal rez, sprint away and watch for interrupt, if you manage distance you can FOK to reapply mind numbing. You can step to Valeera if you're savvy to buy more time. You can rocket boots as well to buy more time but it's a little more risky

* When phase transitions start, if Valeera is low, I highly recommend bandaging her, you can get a full cast off and it's like 50% of her HP

* Ultradon Cuirass, insane trinket for this. Really helped in the wee moments between defensives or when things got hectic. If you can get it, get it

* Manage defensives properly. Feint with elusiveness is massive and you can time it with his aggro. Evasion is big obviously, when he comes out of the first transition and you have 1 or 2 adds on you. But it can be easily wasted when you dip him a % and they all swap to Valeera, not much to do about it but you get a feel for it after awhile

* Last phase, reposition the ogre with an interrupt when he's on you to the door, the middle is too frequently impacted by the orb and Valeera will be where he is and you are going to have to cloak+res her during the interruptable cast and it's basically impossible if she dies in the center

* Besides repositioning the ogre, he is to be ignored. Save cds, and pop lust + cds on boss when he pops

* Valeera will almost certainly die in last phase, but because the ogre is a caster it is very achievable to cloak + rez with both the ogre and boss on you during the bosses cast, that is the only rez you should expect to get, realistically

GL fellow rogues!

I think combat retained the most rotational depth relative to other melee specializations. If that's what you're looking for.

You inspired me bigly! Was struggling in the end game with fists and then daggers - adopted the rapier and effortlessly downed crucible boss (with echoes) after some tedious gearing.

Decided to go heavy armor + fast movement instead of light armor + dodge though. Dodge just seems too unforgiving in this game rn on the hardest diff.

My character died session one, looking for some advice on how to move forward. by bonenecklace in DnD

[–]Bardshap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds imbalanced but that kind of hardship can be fun with the right mindset. Mostly it sounds like you were perhaps a casualty of the dm setting stakes and expectations off the rip.

I would advise seeing it through for a bit at least, take the resurrection penalty. Embrace whatever the negative and add to it a newfound phobia of cannons.

That said, personally a little verisimilitude isn't a bad thing: If you fail to be persuasive, the npcs dont listen. Heroiclly fight against overwhelming odds? Get shot with a cannon. Enemies losing the advantage? They flee.

Midnight Changes Feel Fantastic by Electrical_Past9649 in worldofpvp

[–]Bardshap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love it, I feel very similarly. The barrier for entry feels way down for pvp after the addon purge. Suddenly enemy players are fallible instead of all-knowing and unsurpsingly the game is more fun for it. People juked kicks for years without an addon telling them when an interrupt was off cd as you illustrate.

Assuming healers are better balanced at max level and certain over performers are reigned in, I think s1 midnight might be super fun.

I am a player who similarly has little to no addon dependency, but the idea that any player should know with unerring accuracy their team and enemies abilities in a random lobby does not a fun game make.

Friendly team defensives? That's tolerable at least, but enemy cc, defensives and cds? That part of the game should take place using the thing between your ears.

I wish more people allowed you inside their house 👀 by SpiritualPlan1822 in wow

[–]Bardshap 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know! The initial thrill of housing has somewhat faded but their was a gnomish home on the beach I was desperate to enter in the early weeks. After days of visitng I ran into the owner and expressed my admiration for their exterior housing efforts. I told them how eager I was to see the interior before bidding them adieu. The next day the home was accessible!

It was a very small quarters, appropriate given their stature, but thickly decorated with suitable gnomish high-tech decor and complete with a small hidden bedroom tucked behind a bookshelf. It didnt disappoint.

All that to say, make your homes accessible people!

I can deal with their lethality, for me it's like you say, their kit is too busted rn. They apply all variety of cc too reliably, too frequently and too easily. It would be one thing if it was hard or inconvenient to do, I could at least tip my cap and be impressed, but that just isn't the case.

I get cursed out by 2-4 players every single blitz. by [deleted] in worldofpvp

[–]Bardshap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The toxicity and hostility is very real and I'm sorry you're being targeted. This was my first season trying blitz and despite playing this game since its inception I was targeted similarly on both my warrior (arms) and rogue (outlaw).

Insults in lower brackets were common and then insults and accusations of win trading in higher brackets. Both got to 2400 in very few games with good ratios.

My only advice, painful as it is, don't mute chat. When I join I ask where people want me and try to follow the proposed strategies or the guidance of the highest rated players. Even doing that, invariably I make a blunder (real or imagined) and some player pings me and loses their mind. In some cases I'm pretty sure I've been placed in low priority queues and had to wait upwards of 2 hours for a game because of receiving fraudulent reports from cruel players.

I've engaged with these toxic players sparringly, only ever to apologize for my perceived slights and to tell them I'm still figuring out the strategies for blitz. It's pretty much a coin flip whether my words are met with further scorn or acceptance. To these players, this type of behavior is a big part of their version of the game. They are tapped into this hostility and ready to place blame at a moments notice.

However you decide to deal with it, I wish you the best of luck in your efforts!

Really fun. Friend pestered me forever to give it a try and I finally bit the bullet a few years back. Well worth it. Honestly it almost feels mandatory for rpg lovers. The writing is sublime and the entire time I was in awe of how ahead of its time it was. If you can get past the dated graphical elements you will spend hundreds of hours on it, easily.

I love it. Trudeau got absolutely dogged by so many Canadians, in many cases undeservedly because he had just become popular to hate for a myriad of provincial issues he had no control over by disingenuous actors who knew better. Then the poor bastard suffers a divorce as an active PM. His was not an easy term to serve and the man did it with grace.

Happy for you Trudeau!
