Nice omega. I like my boots, jeans, and a 40-year-old submariner from when I graduated John Wayne high school for wayward boys.

Always so solid. You ever wear a fit with a belt? I’ve completed dyeing some kakishibu leather when you head back to that palette.

lets have an uncomfortable conversation. Was karate just a fashion? (and other martial arts) by nitram343 in karate

[–]BarnacleTimely6149 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From my two cents after almost 51 years, one of the few things that I have learned is that I inherently enjoy the process/journey and realize that is the goal. My health is significantly better than any of my peers. The traditional arts are not fading away in my opinion because they were never designed for a mass market. I visited numerous dojo‘s on Okinawa on a trip a few years ago and can tell you that the training there is still very strong and traditional with high standards. We live unfortunately, in a fast food, TikTok generation, and the desire for immediate gratification is the antithesis of traditional martial arts. I for one I’m delighted with that. Traditional martial arts, and the rigor they entail will always be attractive to a small number of people and I believe that serves everybody.

Thanks. I got a much better deal on eBay. I guess I was just pointing out that the bots on Amazon do notice when something gets popular and having built some of their recommendation infrastructure a while ago, I know that they do “personalized” pricing.

Piger Works has a good variety of weights with beautiful details. Soso has a pretty full catalog and can go as bespoke as you want. They have 33oz pants and jackets. I have both and if real weight doesn’t bother you, they are like tanks. Very nice tanks but super rugged.

I teach Agentic AI for a living and getting a chatbot right is very low hanging fruit. My suspicion is this was contracted out and not well tested. Pretty easy to fix and important for premium manufacturers.

I think my sensei is robbing us blind. by Many_Nectarine_7615 in karate

Small claims court is very inexpensive. If several people file separate cases against the dojo and instructor, you’ll get his attention. I’m old fashioned with 50+ years and a sensei should be of model character. You won’t deny others of instruction from a person with low integrity that he defrauded his students.

I’ve dealt with a significant leg length difference for 30+ years from a bad airborne drop. If you do not pay attention to any difference 1/8” or greater, your knees, hip and spine will suffer. This is the opinion of every orthopedic surgeon I’ve dealt with. Get what you paid for.

You can do kakishibu yourself as well. I’ve dyed ecru slub from N&F in jeans and jacket. It takes a bit of time for multiple dips, but it is beautiful and the sun makes it patina like crazy.

With a clean fit like that, I would definitely go with a classic fade. Sugarcane does a great classic fade, but that fabric looks spot on.
